great video grey. on the road with taylor hicks. i love “I live on a battlefield” and t’s falsetto. i wish he would do that more. nice that he included matt at the end. sweet. rip matt.

  2. I really enjoyed this video…I love Disney in any way, shape of form….I better I’ve been 53 times and sharing that ride with Taylor and some great Taylor music ..what could be better.

  3. taylorfan06 Says:

hey, check out my two-fer tuesday on the previous post. killer songs/videos!
let me know what you think.

  4. I had no clue Tracey even sang and I didn’t much care for the song or video. Did that song chart? Different stokes for different folks.

I was at Epcot but didn’t get to stalk or run into Taylor at Animal Kingdom. That ride is higher than it looks on his vid and after watching it for 10 minutes and hearing the people scream I was scared to ride.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

  5. I always liked the song “They Don’t Know” especially because of the end of the video.

  6. I had no clue Tracey even sang and I didn’t much care for the song or video. Did that song chart?
    =============================================
Indeed it did. It was in the top 10 in the US and went to #2 in the UK. I remember that video and it getting tons of airplay.

  7. So have I Sierra. Another song I loved and still do is by The Cranberries

  8. I must have been out of it in 1983. Paul still had that boyish look back then, but both he and Ringo look good for their age.

  9. You lost me at Paul but when you said Ringo, it clicked. I was never into the Beatles or Elvis. I got interested in the Beatles after the broke up and went out on their own. Their individual talents were amazing and way ahead of their time. Elvis just never jingled any special bells for me although I do recognize that he was ahead of his time as well and an icon.

I can identify with a lot of TF6’s music. Guess we are about the same age and enjoyed the same music…for the most part.

Hope all has a great holiday weekend.

  10. taylorfan06 Says:

    holidays + family = drinking

have a great thanksgiving all…. CHEERS!

  11. taylorfan06 Says:

    …and on a related note…

paul definitely in his prime and one of the best songs from 1973, my favorite year in music. ttfn

  12. taylorfan06 Says:

that was ta ta for now.

  13. taylorfan06 Says:

this is the b-side of helen wheels. i got the 45 for christmas 37 years ago! you guessed it.. back in 1973! wish i still had it. great song. if you’ve never heard it, please take a listen. it has like a 30 second into, but once it starts… wow! classic mccartney. enjoy. i’m heading to bed now. night.

  14. taylorfan06 Says:

for good measure… what the hell-en…

  15. taylorfan06 Says:

say bye bye… bye bye. lol

  16. taylorfan06 Says:

To all those planning to shop tomorrow… 2 words –
    Good Luck!

  17. taylorfan06 Says:

I’m planning to sleep in. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  18. tf06, You are a good fun soul. Love the Beatles, especially Paul and George. Linda McCartney was an interesting person, the love of Pauls life and she passed at only 56. George stopped smoking by 1970, yet had throat and lung cancer and died at 58.

Elvis was a hero of the Beatles and a huge influence on their music. Elvis had a great voice and some of the cover songs he did in the late 60’s and until his death were out of this world.

  19. taylorfan06 Says:

never was an elvis fan but this would have to my favorite song of his.
his last top 10 hit, #2 in 1972.

how about a cool video to go along with the song?

    aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  20. taylorfan06 Says:

do you think taylor does the carlton dance anymore?

i really hated his appearance on trl. he was trying WAAAY too hard!!

  21. Casualfan, I love the Cranberries too- they were fabulous. TF6, you’ve hit upon my special weakness- McCartney, especially with Wings. I love Helen Wheels and Country Dreamer. Have you heard “The Mess”- oh that one rocks it out like crazy!

Thanks for the cool videos. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving- hope everyone else did too. 🙂

  22. Had a wonderful one too Sierra. We braved the crowds today for Black Friday. Wasn’t so bad. Went in the afternoon after the madness. Got some really great deals, great food and great atmosphere. This is my last year to enjoy a sunny Thanksgiving and Christmas in sunny CA. Will be moving to where some serious snow is…excited about that.

Everyone have a great weekend and great holiday!

  23. taylorfan06 Says:

this one’s for you Sierra – “rock it out!”

  24. taylorfan06 Says:

    here it is live!!!! enjoy!!

i actually had the hardest time finding “red rose speedway” on cd with the “country dreamer” bonus cut. i actually found a 2 disc import version of it at bleeker records in new york when i was visiting there a few years back. it was $40.00, but it hell, IT’S MCCARTNEY!! it’s a cool collection in the vein of the beatles anthology that i truly treasure in my cd library.

  25. taylorfan06 Says:

this one is a favorite from that album, even though band on the run is my all time favorite mccartney album (1973!). tug of war (1982) comes in 2nd.

  26. TF06 Sorry but I can’t figure out what (trl) stands for when you said he was trying too hard.

When I went to utube to watch the fan Burning Love vid, I got caught up watching some others I had not seen before. Taylor smiles and laughs so much and really does seem to be a happy soul. he looks great in the ad for celeb ghost stories.

FH and hicksaholic, was there bedlam in Bama after yesterdays game?

Cf you were brave to go out and shop. I checked all the deals online and noticed there were several great deals. My problem is that I haven’t made a gift list yet, so I need to come up with a plan before I venture out to spend. I’d trade you a winter here for CA, after our record breaking snows last winter.

  27. taylorfan06 Says:

rosie – trl stands for total request live which was a show on mtv hosted by nick lachey’s girlfriend. i’m coming up blank trying to remember her name…. anyway, i just thought it was a strange appearance by taylor. he was acting very goofy like i have never seen him before or since. since the show catered to a younger crowd, i think taylor was trying to maybe act more kidlike(?) which, in my opinion, he didn’t pull off. can you say “awkward”???? did anyone else see that appearance that was done when his TH cd was released.??? the kids in the studio audience just didn’t appear to dig it, IMO. even the host seemed a little uncomfortable. and his outfit was very non-taylor looking…

  28. taylorfan06 Says:

another mccartney “country tinged” song from 1974. remember this one?
a double sided hit with “junior’s farm”. lovin’ me some mccartney this week.

  29. I saw vids of it before and I agree with all you said. He should have just been himself. The vid you posted here shows most of it. Awkward is the right word.

  30. taylorfan06 Says:

doesn’t it feel like monday today?

  31. taylorfan06 Says:

ok. this will be my last mccartney video. another amazing song, from 1970. 40 years ago!!! mmmmphh! where does the time go?? i just love the short little dittys he wrote all those years ago… uh oh.. could a george harrison set be coming?… lol anyway, here’s the amazing paul mccartney and “every night”:

  32. taylorfan06 Says:

  33. taylorfan06 Says:

the mustache never worked on paul.. but he could work a beard.
nice behind the scenes video i just found. the beatles are priceless.

  34. taylorfan06 Says:

there’s a series of 9 videos that are definite must sees for all beatle fans. you can follow the videos from the one i posted above. raw brilliance at work….

  35. Wow, TF06, Only ONe More Kiss is also my favorite song from that album! I also love the Medley from Red Rose Speedway as well. Thanks for the Mess vids- totally cool! Every Night is an awesome song. He did a wonderful version of it later with Linda and his band in the 90’s

  36. taylorfan06 Says:

thanks sierra. that was a great performance. such a beautiful song and paul was in fine voice. is that unplugged available on dvd? what lucky fans to get a ticket to that show!!! WOW!

  37. hicksaholic Says:

    Rosie,
It was wild after AU beat Bama. I’m a huge Auburn fan and we had a crazy party watching that game. Already got my room booked in Hotlanta for next week’s SEC Championship but as of yet do not have tickets to the game.

    Sure is quiet in Taylorland.

  38. hicksaholic Says:

That TRL appearance was way beyond awkward. It was painful to watch. He came out doing the airplane. He should have been on Howdy Doody.

  39. I remember that hicksaholic! LMAO! A true ADD moment for sure. I think it was on PBS or Nickelodeon. The pathetic part is the general masses will remember antics like that before the remember his music.

  40. hicksaholic Says:

Hopefully not many saw it and it was a rare Taylor miscue as far as audiences go. I figure he took some idiot’s advice on dressing really young and acting young and Taylor over shot it by about 10 or so years.

How come Taylor hasn’t tweeted congrats to the AU Tigers? Surely he was at the game.

  41. Hopefully he’s off the phone and enjoying himself this holiday. The hell with twitter or anything else. Family and friends are more important. 😉

  42. My favorite rendition of this song.

  54. Woah! I’m drowning in Christmas videos! LOL

  55. Yeah, it is getting a bit crowded isn’t it? That’s why I stopped.

  56. Hi all. Well we have one stop shopping for Christmas songs. It’s amazing how many artists have done original and covers of Christmas songs. I’ve always enjoyed Burl ives Holly Jolly Xmas. I promise to check out a few others later.

I’m looking forward to watching Tay’s Ghost Story and find out the story in his own words. I’ll also be checking to see if he reeks charisma, as that would be important if he gets a film role.

I’m not fond of the holidays since the kids are grown. It seems to be too commercialized, too much stress and shopping. I’ll try to get into the spirit and maybe some Christmas music will help.

Where is our fealess leader, IAG? Where is that shotgun vid of his Clint Eastwood gig he promised?

  57. casualfan Says:

I’m with you Rosie on the commercialism. Christmas ads are starting earlier and becoming more aggressive. But I do view the holiday as a fun time and tune out all the pimping. Next Christmas I’ll have a white one so I’m happy.

Burl Ives is my favorite “Holly Jolly Christmas” rendition. The Eagles have my heart in “Please Come Home for Christmas” too.

  61. Ha, as soon as I inquired about his Gran Torino shotgun vid he posted it. Since this has happened two or three times before, I’m going to ask when he will announce a new movie or tv performance.

CF where will you be moving?

  62. casualfan Says:

Boulder, CO this summer. =) Looking forward to it.

  63. Boulder is supposed to be beautiful.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of youallarescaringme? She was a poster on Makingingfunofyourasses blog and I always enjoyed her take on the fandom. Wonder if she is still posting some where under a different name.

  64. casualfan Says:

never heard of that sn before Rosie, but they sound entertaining. Always interesting reading others take on things.

  65. casualfan Says:

I lived near Boulder a while back and loved it. My creativity seems to flourish when I’m in the mountains. Finishing up a book that hopefully will be done next summer. I need the inspiration of the Rockies, fresh mountain air and scenery. My Muses are waiting my return. 😉

  66. PurpleButterflies Says:

Christmas songs! I found a batch of videos on You Tube from a special I watched on Thanksgiving night that took my breath away. Andrea Bocelli and David Foster did “My Christmas” which aired in the tri state area (I’m in CT) on PBS on Thanksgiving night. It will be shown nationwide through out the month of December. The person who put up the videos of the show put the date as 2009 because they keep taking his videos down due to copyright violations. I guess because it didn’t finish airing yet. But the show came from this year. Here’s one of the videos.
http://www.youtube.com/user/SneakyGuy77#p/c/083D1BA2A5B8B4E6/12/tnVEtoaZdGU You can enjoy the whole show by going to the user’s page. Andrea Bocelli has a voice like no other.

  67. Hey I was watching that last night Purple! I love Andrea Bocelli!

  68. PurpleButterflies Says:

My two favorites from the show are when he sang The Lord’s Prayer, and Ave Maria. You can also find them on that You Tube user’s list.

  69. PurpleButterflies Says:

Sierra, did you happen to notice how many more times they are going to air the show? My father is mad that he missed it. I can’t find the listings anywhere.

  70. casualfan Says:

I love Ava Maria. That song always sends chills up and down my entire being. Thankfully I haven’t heard any bad renditions of it. Another one for me is “O Holy Night”. A true masterpiece of Christmas music.

  71. Well I noticed they aired it again last night. I love Bocelli- his voice is heavenly. 🙂

  72. casualfan Says:

Read this interesting article titled “What’s wrong with American Idol”.

    http://bob-baker.posterous.com/taylor-hicks-fans-agree-whats-wrong-with-amer

While I agree with some points the article made, I feel it’s fair to also point out that Idol does indeed have it’s positive traits and provides an excellent tool for singers to have their voices heard.

Idol isn’t a magic bullet to success, and shouldn’t be taken as such. It’s an entertainment show and a platform for aspiring talent to showcase what they have. Many ppl get into the entertainment business with stars in their eyes and big dreams of limos, sex, money and the good life and they don’t realize the hard work that actually is involved. That’s been around long before Idol ever was thought of. To put the blame on a TV show for some not succeeding doesn’t make sense.

We all know by now that Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert are proof that show does work-if one can appeal to the masses and use the show’s benefits wisely.

The article promotes the fact that Taylors fanbase agrees with his article. Well of course they do! Some see it as justification of why Taylor didn’t achieve mainstream success. It’s not Idol’s fault or Taylor’s fault for that matter. Hicks simply didn’t have what it took to attract mainstream success.

Will he find it as an Independent? That remains to be seen. Taylor has given so many different numbers on actual units he has sold, that no one knows for sure his actual cd count-though I suspect it’s much lower than he’s reporting it to be.

btw-Serious CONGRATS to Adam Lambert for his Grammy nomination and to Carrie for her recent award as Entertainer of the Year.

This is why I love Idol…the Stars do indeed shine 😉

    Cheers everyone….

  73. cf….not sure I totally agree with all of what you said,I agree after Idol you have to work hard…but in society today bad behaviour seems to be rewarded more than hard work and even talent. I still have the wish that people who entertain young people would be better role models, I know I am probably in the minority but I do beleive there should be a certain responsibility in one’s actions, Carrie is very talented and is a good role model for young people. Adam is very talented but for me (my opinion only) the AMA performance turned me off his persona. Kanya West is another example of bad behaviour being rewarded. I just don’t get it.
I think if talent alone coupled with hard word was the key to success we would have many more choices of who to listen to on the radio instead of the same few songs being played ad nauseum

  74. casualfan Says:

Anne-I agree with the bad behaviour reward problem. But in Adam’s defense, he has atoned for his antics re the AMA performance. He had a cocky attitude out the gate, but has become more professional and seems to have up’d the game for himself. I give him high props for this. He apologized for what happened and has moved on. Obviously he has continued to build his fanbase and is being taken seriously as a contending artist.

Kanye West is nothing but a smart ass who froths off at the mouth over anything and everything for attention. I have no respect what-so-ever for him or his music.

  75. I don’t consider either Fantasia or Adam mainstream, yet both are doing well. While both have good voices, it is all the publicity they have received for poor or outlandish behavior that is causing some to want to check them out.

  76. Hey Grey, how are you doing. Any chance of you putting the Gran Torino shotgun vid here? Tonight watch Taylor’s ghost story 9pm eastern on Bio.

  77. mamaforpeace Says:

Well, as I said before, I did hear Adam on French radio while I was there. I think his career is moving along just fine.

  78. mfp…. I believe Adam’s career is moving right along ..but again as referenced in my previous post…bad behaviour seems to be rewarded. I really like Adam’s voice and think he is very talented,,,but his remorse came in the form of self protection rather than an actual epiphany of good taste. JMO

  79. casualfan Says:

I’m proud of Adam for standing up and moving on with his career. It doesn’t matter to me what his motivation is, the fact is that he’s growing and establishing himself. It shouldn’t matter what one brings to the table, but what one leaves the table with that counts.

  80. casualfan Says:

On another note…since this blog is about musicians and celebrating the music…check this guy out.

I’m not a fan of country music, but Christian Kane has made me one. This song is awesome. He plays Elliot on the TNT series “Leverage” and has a CD dropping this Tuesday. Not to mention that he’s hot!

  81. casualfan Says:

  82. casualfan Says:

  83. cf.. my point is that yet another artist is rewarded for causing controversy and the next day when asked about the effect his performance may have had on young people he said. “I’m not a baby sitter” and I agree he is not , however he made his name on a show that panders to young people so yes I do think he should have been more respectful to them and their parents,,,And I disagree,, it DOES matter what one brings to the table when it comes when one brings their good name and reputation that to me is worth bringing and perserving. Personally I am tired of talented people using sex and (in Adam”s case bondage) to sell music. The music and the lyrics have become secondary
to the shock value of performance. I would like to get back to music and entertainment and see some of these talented people sing a song from the heart instead of other parts of their anatomy.

  84. casualfan Says:

I remember not being allowed to watch Elvis or listen to his music because of his shock value of pelvic thrusting, hip grinding.

  85. casualfan Says:

    Here’s some “bondage” for you.

  86. I agree with you, Anne. I just want to hear the music and see a singer who feels it in his/her soul. I do not want to see all the glitz, glitter and outrageous behavior.

Thanks Tf06 for the Lennon videos. I have to admit I didn’t “get” the Beatles or Lennon back in 1980. And while I remember the tragedy and the sadness reported about that day in December. I still didn’t appreciate the man or the music. Ah, the folly of my youth! I have evolved!

  93. He was only 40 and at the time I did not grasp how young that was. I was not a fan then, in part due to Yoko and some of the things John had said and done.
