Clearing the air…

While I can’t say I’m surprised, I was a little frustrated reading the last post. So, let me clear up a few things for everybody.

1. The name of this site is It’s All Grey. The reason for that name has to do with life, really. Life is never black and while, and neither is music. Yes, Taylor Hicks is on the header, but by no means does that imply that other musicians can’t be talked about on here. In fact, most days, I would prefer other musicians be talked about. It doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of Taylor, but it does mean that there are so many other musicians out there, busting their asses, trying to make their music heard. If I can help them in any small way do that, then I will.

2. I moderate this site several times a day. While I don’t post daily, I am very aware of what is going on here. I have been a moderator on a Taylor site before. I like the policy of letting people talk…and getting into the fray only if it’s necessary.

3. As for the comment that we’re close minded and critical, maybe we are. But it’s our prerogative. This is a blog…full of opinions. The point of conversation is to cajole, convince, refute, concede and sometimes agree. No, I don’t agree with everything Taylor Hicks does in his career. And I know he couldn’t care less what I think…but the point is that we all like his music, some of us more than others. He is a common bond between us all, but I want to expand upon that with different artists.

4. Real fans. Ha. What a myth. You’re a fan or you’re not. When you consider the term “real fans”, then that leads to the other side. What are you if you’re not a real fan? A pretend fan? That’s ridiculous. If some people on this blog want to consider themselves “bigger, real fans” of Taylor Hicks, then go ahead. Let me know where that gets you. Oh yeah, right. Nowhere. Because whether you’re a huge fan or not, Taylor Hicks probably doesn’t care. You know what Taylor Hicks cares about? Money. But don’t we all? That is how the world goes round after all. If people from other sites want to post here, they are more than welcome to. If they don’t want to, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

On that note..check out this clips from a documentary called “Before the Music Dies..” It talks about how songs get played, and why they get played. Oh, and I love Dave Matthews. 🙂

  1. Personally I enjoy this site very much. I like that other artists are brought up and that Taylor holds a special place in everyone’s heart here. We all may feel a little differently about Taylor but that is because he has such a wide variety of fans. Some like his pre-Idol stuff others his Idol persona, his TH CD or the Distance or even the Broadway Taylor. LOL. Seems we all have a preference. This scattered approach has either hurt his career or may be the saving grace that gives him longevity. Whatever the case following Taylor Hick’s career is never boring. I look forward to what comes next. I don’t know what it is BUT I bet we’ll be talking about it here. LOL.

  2. Ironically, I was creating a post on the Grace Potter thread about this..
I lost it in a computer freeze, but I was lamenting the days where artists could take a demo to a dj at a local radio station, get it played, create their own relationships in the music business and develop fan bases a little at a time. However, the “business” was changing even in the days of Elvis. It was a shadow of the syndicated monster, even in the late 70’s, early 80’s. Clear Channel just created another flavor and larger monster.
I like Dave Matthews saying that the energy

  3. Well, that posted before I finished….
Anyway, Dave Matthews saying that the energy of what music is and what fans are looking for will remain and be rechanneled is hopefully true.
‘Art is Art and Commerce is Commerce. ” Good for reference on this stuff as a lowly fan.
    Thanks for the vids…

  4. I just think Taylor is hot.

    <====Not a real fan.

    *giggles and runs away*

  5. I love the clear channels and dislike radio very much these days. If I hear something I like that is new, I will go to iTunes and purchase the music. I also have great music stations on my digital cable so it’s all good. Before Taylor went on AI, I was doomed to listening to one genre of music because it was non-threatening, instrumental and didn’t give me a headache. He reintroduced me into what good music is and I went back into the music world to explore…I thank him for that.

Grey-You keep it real here and it’s much appreciated. This blog doesn’t stay in the same rut in recycling the same information and we do have the freedom to discuss other musicians. Most-if not all the musicians I’ve talked about here has been connected to Taylor in some way so it’s all good.

  6. Freckles..you crack me up!

Geez. Two comments in two days. Go, me!
I LOVE Dave Matthews’ song ‘Ants Marching’ and I ADORE his ‘Stay or Leave’. So, excitedly, I bought Dave Matthews ‘Li’ve at Rockefeller’, or some such (I think that’s the name, but too lazy to go check), the album from whence my favorite ‘Stay or Leave’ came. TWO CDS!!!! ALL THAT MUSIC!!!! AWESOME!!! Well, Not so much.
I guess I love the idea of a great album. I MISS great albums, great music, great album art. I’ve purchased a number of cds based on songs I’ve heard through my Taylor Hicks fanitude.
Things are worse now than when I was a music fan in the 70s. Instead of 2 or 3 ‘filler’ songs, now you get 1 or 2 ‘listenable’ songs/album.
Best example: ‘Home’ by Marc Broussard. GREAT song. Carencro, or whatever the name was, was a mediocre (at best) album, with no other song even coming close to ‘Home’.
    *sigh*
I’m frustrated by the fact that even on the fan sites, the Taylor Hicks catalog gets slammed for one or two ‘filler’ songs/album.

  8. CF: speaking of Train…go listen to “get to me” and “if it’s love”(the video is great). Those are good songs!!

  9. I’m frustrated by the fact that even on the fan sites, the Taylor Hicks catalog gets slammed for one or two ‘filler’ songs/album.
    ==============================================
    What do you consider slamming?

To me a slam would be “I HATE that fricking song and that is the end of his career! His voice sounds like crap, off key and he is a no talent hack!”

Sorry, but that is a slam to me and I haven’t seen that on any fan site…including this one.

  10. hicksaholic Says:

    CF
That’s a pretty clear definition of a slam. No disputing that one.

    Freckles, hilarious!!

Fairhope, did you enjoy Train? Was it as good as going to see Taylor? I know it’s a set up question but just curious.

Bon Jovi and Kenny Chesney are the next concerts for the Gulf Shores oil benefit series. Not sure either of those are of that much interest to me although I’m sure they are great.

  11. hicksaholic Says:

Grey I LOVE this site and although I rarely make profound posts I enjoy the varied opinions of the posters here and think they are interesting and not all fluff. Thanks for hosting it.

  12. crazymomelon Says:

    Very prickly site.
    Very

  13. It’s brad paisley not Kenny chesney. And yes I loved Train. I’ve lost alot of my Taylor lust from 2007. So if I compared it to Taylor in b’ham a year ago???? Train was better for me.

  14. I love Home by Marc Broussard. Great song!

  15. I prefer oscillating fans.

  16. I’m just catching up from the last thread. CF, I had no clue J.M. was John Mayer and I never said anything against John Mayer or anything about you liking him. I swear you keep mixing me up with someone. I believe it was Dee who may have put down Mayer.

  17. Wasn’t me. All I said quite some time ago was I always liked Mayers music but given all the recent events I was disappointed in him and the lyrics in some of his songs now have a second and unsettling meaning for me now. LOL.

  18. It is my opinion that when some fans from other places come here with something positive to say about Taylor or to defend him from a negative, on occasion they have been ridiculed. It may be stated they are welcome, but some people don’t care to have their opinion followed by someone’s snark. There is an entire thread on the BB devoted to other artists as well as tv shows such as America’s Got talent, and threads for several Idol contestents. Call me crazy but who is bitching about other artists being featured on this blog and why do some here, therefore feel the need to keep mentioning that we like other music other than Tay’s? TF06, on the prior thread, merely pointed out that the subject sooner or later gets back to discussing Taylor. I assumed all along the name of the blog, meant we could discuss the good and bad about Tay as in black and white equals grey or gray. It seems like the content of Clearing The Air, is picking quite a bit on TF06, all because he used the word real and because he didn’t know what the title of the blog meant.

  19. taylorfan06 Says:

rosie, you are great! maybe if i would have just said “most” fans instead of “real” fans…. i really wasn’t going for the snark. my bad.

i will rephrase the remark that most fans like IYT and UTR. JMO 🙂

  20. For Grey 😉

FH-I’m having a serious fan girly moment with Train…all thanks to you. =) “Soul Sister” always gets me moving. Very upbeat and cool. Train has a wine club on their site where they feature a different bottle of wine each month…really cool. They come across very personable with their fans and seem genuine. It’s really important to have that connection these days especially.

  22. sorry, couldn’t resist…the guy in the vid is super hot!

  23. This is a blog. People with vastly different opinions comment here. There are varying levels of “support” for Taylor Hicks here. It runs the gamut from “He can do know wrong” to “What the hell is he thinking?” And guess what? There is not a DAMN thing wrong with that.

The conversations here meander all over the place organically. The original topic of the most current post may be completely lost as the conversation takes on a life of it’s own. Again, there is not a DAMN thing wrong with that.

Taylor Hicks and other artists are discussed here, but not too seriously. This is not an overly analytical, music snob kind of place. People just talk about what they like and why they like it. Sometimes they talk about what they don’t like and why they don’t like it. Not a DAMN thing wrong with that.

    It’s just really not that complicated . . .

  24. Rosie…I love how you come over here…being innocent and naive. It’s kind of cute.

Now…I would really appreciate you discontinuing your fishing expeditions here. Although there aren’t as many places anymore that will accommodate fishing with Taylor Hicks..there are still a few. This place isn’t one of them.

If that’s picking on you, then so be it. I’m just moderating the behavior.

  25. Soulaz. You are so real and awesome. 🙂

  26. Thanks, CF!! Love that song!

  27. Okay, wait a second. Taylorfan06 is a MAN?!?!??!!

I seriously had no idea. hmmm… reminds me of that movie Clue. “Mrs. Peacock was a man?!?!”

    Yeah okay, that was random…

Did I mention that Taylor is hot??

  28. Is Taylor gonna be down at the beach this weekend? Anyone? Anyone?

  29. taylorfan06 Says:

raven – you are SO incorrect.

  30. luv 2 b entertained Says:

FH and CF, count me in on the Train bandwagon….I think I might be going to see them this weekend!

I must add that I just had the good fortune to see Marc Broussard live and he was amazing!! I would definitely go if you have the chance. Just a great singer/songwriter with an incredible depth of feeling in his bluesy voice. Such honesty in his music and I love the songs written about his kids and missing them being on the road. *awwww*

I love to talk about other artists and Grace Potter is next on my “to-do” list.

So I hope that since I liked the JM concert better than Taylor’s that i am still allowed to be a real fan. Lol That being said, I haven’t kept up on the Tay concert videos. I’m guessing the show I went to wasn’t one of his better ones. So I’ll give the guy another shot to impress me ; )

  31. See what did I tell you? Ha! Ha! Ha! She’s not even smart enough NOT to walk in a trap!

  32. What is it with Baiting each other? Let’s all play nice. It’s a long weekend sit back relax. Listen to some music. LOL.

  33. I’ve deleted some comments. If people want to play games and complain about other fans, do it on your own blog. I’m not playing those games here. Damn people, Taylor doesn’t have enough fans already. Keep playing the games and he’ll have even less.

  34. I ALWAYS miss this good stuff. ALWAYS!!

    I swear… oh well… carry on…

  35. *sniff sniff*

    The air smells kinda stinky…

  36. so wait…is TF06 a man?? no one has answered that yet.

My comments are valid too dammit…

    *stomps foot, giggles, and hides*

  37. OK, I’m sorry, IAG. Just hate to see people getting deceived saying that person is a man, when most of us really know who it is and it’s not hard to figure out if you pay attention.

You do agree with me that other blog is nasty, right?

  38. What am I missing? I’m in the dark here. And while it may be bliss, I just feel ignorant.

  39. I was merely defending TF06 and stating that there is sometimes snarky posts which may offend some. Sorry, but I don’t engage in fishing and baiting, I just give my opinions. If someone doesn’t agree with me most of the time I don’t debate the issue as I know we all have different opinions. Raven, glad you are so easily amused.

  40. so it’s safe to assume that TF06 isn’t a man…and what…

I’m good at puzzles, but I need some pieces…

  41. I don’t know what blog you’re talking about…and I would prefer to keep it that way.

Trust me Freckles…in the TH fandom, ignorance is bliss. Without a doubt.

Anyway…back to the music. I’m not a big fan of country music, but I absolutely love this video.

  42. My above response was in part due to one of Raven’s now deleted posts. Seriously people, we all look silly, when as grown women or men we start acting like high school kids on a public forum.

  43. I was really hoping to start a conversation regarding the youtube videos. Watching that was fascinating to me regarding the state of radio and getting airplay. Just like everything else in life, there is so much politics behind the scenes.

  44. well, I have to be honest IAG, I absolutely abhor country music…

  45. Freckles, that person is not a man. You deserve an answer.

IAG, you know exactly which blog I’m talking about! Rosie also posts over there all the time.

Anyway, it’s ALL FUNNY! So, I’ll just leave it at that.

  46. But the video is awesome Freckles!!

  47. Raven Says:

Freckles, that person is not a man. You deserve an answer.
    ===============================================
Raven, TF6 is indeed a man. Not sure who you think HE is but you are wrong. Someone elsewhere met HIM at a recent show and commented on how nice HE was. It’s no mystery and yes, Freckles does deserve an answer…the real one.

I hope you don’t think that poster is Griz….LMAO!

  48. Thank you…that’s all I wanted. Not that it actually matters…but I have to tell you that I pictured TF06 as a cute, thin woman sitting at her computer with her shoulder length dark blonde hair in a pony tail chewing gum with a big picture of taylor as her screen saver. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. LOL

I love men Taylor fans. So few and far between…

Anyhow, I watched the video (no sound at work). It’s nice. Football. Because c’mon Kenny Chesney is just…blech. ugly. And he sings the silliest songs.

I have to tell you all, I’m not much into music. Well, okay, let me rephrase that. I love music, but half the people you all talk about, I have never heard of and when I do hear of them, I rarely like them.

I’m really into 80s music. Does that make me a music retard?? Right now I can’t get enough of Prince’s Purple Rain album. Seriously…I saw the movie for like the millionth time on Vh1 the other day, and I just had to pull out my Prince albums. I just think he is/was a genius.

And since my name is Nikki and he sings a song Darling Nikki…yes I realize what it’s about…but it’s nice to here my name.

Speaking of that…When I was a little girl that song by Toni Basil came out “Hey Mickey.” My family of course sang Hey Nikki! So my whole life I thought that song was made for me. (I know, right?)

    Anyhow…if you all haven’t noticed…I’m wordy and sorta random. That’s probably why I don’t post a lot.

  49. Raven, Griz is toxic waste. TF6 reads nothing like her. TF6 is a high spirited, dedicated fan of Taylor’s who can still enjoy the music of other musicians and often does discuss them here. He prefers Taylor over most, but he means no harm. Griz is not capable of enjoying anything that’s not Taylorized.

  50. I’m really into 80s music. Does that make me a music retard?? Right now I can’t get enough of Prince’s Purple Rain album. Seriously…I saw the movie for like the millionth time on Vh1 the other day, and I just had to pull out my Prince albums. I just think he is/was a genius.
    ===============================================
Freckles, I so agree with you on Prince being a musical genius. I always preferred him over Michael Jackson. Prince is always thinking ahead, very music/business savvy and has helped launch countless music careers-often go under different names so he wouldn’t call attention to himself. He’s a great jazz artist as well.

I’ve seen Purple Rain so many times that I can recite almost every line…LOL

  51. For Freckles 😉

  52. taylorfan06 Says:

thanks for that cf. you pegged me perfectly. hopefully we’ll meet one day at a TH show. could happen… signed, not griz LOL

  53. taylorfan06 Says:

i love this one from the 80’s. funny video. cool song

  54. No Freckles it doesn’t make you a musical retard. Everybody has their own taste. Thank God. Could you imagine if the whole world liked the same thing?

Prince is an amazing musician. 🙂

  56. The one true travesty about Prince is that he never produced any children to carry on his music legacy.

  57. taylorfan06 Says:

Here’s my prince pick. Happy Friday everyone!

  58. taylorfan06 Says:

He tried with Tevin Campbell. Great groove on this one. Pure Prince!

  59. cf, we’ll have to agree to disagree. Cheers!

  60. OMG!! I loved Parents just don’t understand!! Who would have thought back then where Will Smith would end up.

  61. cf, Prince has children. I belive his one son has learning disabilities.

  62. Okay, I’ll admit… I had the Tevin Campbell tape. I did. And the video with Prince in the background.

Back when MTV actually played music videos…

  63. taylorfan06 Says:

I saw Prince open for the The Rolling Stones at the L.A. Colliseum in ’81.
He got booed off the stage and people threw shit at him (not literally)
Anyway, he left after saying “Fuck you, L.A.” I guess he got the last laugh…

  64. Sinead O’Connor anyone?? Prince wrote her song, “Nothing Compares To You.” Awesome song. AWESOME SONG!! Still holds up beautifully…

  65. Raven, He and his wife had 1 stillborn. The baby had a rare birth defect and did not survive. He was divorced shortly after. Read his bio. He has NO children.

  66. AWWW…TF06…it’s still hard for me to picture you as a man. You’re so cute. LOL

  67. taylorfan06 Says:

Here wrote this one also…. the 80’s were GREAT!!!

  68. taylorfan06 Says:

cf – i should have known… LOL LOL LOL

  69. taylorfan06 Says:

    Here’s Sinead

  70. taylorfan06 Says:

talk about a double header! LMFAO

  71. So, TF6, you don’t like any new music? Just like the old stuff? Do you like the Monkees? I love them, so cool.

  72. Correction….Prince’s son Greggory died shortly after childbirth…birth due to pfeiffer syndrome.

  73. LOL! TF6-Now that’s cool!

  74. taylorfan06 Says:

    I said “FUNK!”

    more great 80’s, ladies!!!

  75. Didn’t Prince write a song for the 80’s group Banarama?

  76. Ok, sorry didn’t know the child died and thought it was older. Don’t keep up with Prince.

  77. taylorfan06 Says:

LOVE the 60’s. Here’s your Monkee’s. Dedicated to all here.

  78. Never too late for a man to be a parent, btw. Prince can still have children, if he wants.

  79. I love Last Train To Clarksville! That song is awesome!

  80. taylorfan06 Says:

Hope you like the Monkees country tinged ditty. I included it on a “blues” cd i gave Taylor when i saw him at anthology.

here’s a song written by mike nesmith. linda’s first hit, dec, ’67.
she’s my favorite female vocalist of all time. she can do it all (and more)
…remind you of a certain “male” vocalist??

    anyway…

  81. Was Davy Jones in the Monkees?? Am I thinking right??

Well, a friend of mine was an absolute Davy Jones fanatic. So about 10 years ago for her 21st b-day her and some friends went to a concert. She became like…I dunno…a follower of Davy Jones after that. Went to every show she could… and blah blah blah. About 2 years into her Davy Jones fandom she went a concert where she knew a lot of the ladies (obviously). Well a couple of them started bragging about doing it with him backstage. After that show, she never went to another…said it ruined her image of him. Now he makes her absolutely sick and if you mention her past obsession she gets pretty angry.

    WEIRD!

  82. Grey-We may crash your blog with all these Prince vids.

  83. taylorfan06 Says:

great story freckles. i heard that exact same story about Taylor.

I”M KIDDING!!! because i can. LOL

  84. I wouldn’t be mad…just jealous…

If Taylor’s gonna boink someone after the show, it should so totally be me.

  85. The creativity of Prince is off the charts. I’ve never seen anyone like him. He’s a true original.

  86. taylorfan06 Says:

For Raven. He’s a current song that I just LOVE!!!

  87. CF~ He is amazing. I know MJ was a big influence and all that, but seriously, Prince is where it’s at. Something was in the water in the midwest in 1958!!

Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson all born in 1958. Prince in Minnesota, Madonna in Michigan, and MJ in Indiana. INCREDIBLE!

  88. taylorfan06 Says:

Kate Hudson is dating the lead singer of Muse. Who HASN’T she boinked??
    Such a lady…

  89. “Ever danc with the devil in the pale moonlight?”

    Okay, I’m done….

Thanks for bringing up Prince, Freckles…

  90. Okay…a song from my collective youth…

  111. TF6-I have to seriously LMAO when I hear this compared to the above version…..I keep thinking “WTF was thinking and doing?”

  112. LMAO! I could swear that Taylor did half of the “bend and snap” at the end.

  113. taylorfan06 Says:

  120. To be fair to ALL the Season 5 contestants….I’ve watched recent work from all of the ones active now and have listened to their music. They have ALL grown and evolved.

Some great vids you all put up…loved the one with Will Smith..he and I share a birthday, September 25th, which segues right into EW&F and “September”… good stuff. Can y’all believe it is September already?…where has the summer gone?

I did find the first videos about radio and playlists interesting…I think we’ve all known something like this existed..trying to figure out who decides what is played for these test groups is certainly a mystery. Yep, politics exist everywhere. Even in the music business. It’s all about the money. Sad.

  126. Wow . . . you guys got WAY chatty while I was at work.

  127. hicksaholic Says:

Really, I’m trying to sell houses and y’all are fighting first than posting a gazillion videos.

  128. Thanks for the music…I had never listened much to Prince (I guess I’m one of those old lady Taylor fans) but loved the vids of his… great musician. Duran Duran was played in my house constantly ( by my daughter & her friends) in the 80’s so I grew to really like their music..And I love Linda Ronstat
I love all kinds of music country (the new stuff..not the old twang) rock , opera, but my passion is blues & soul. I grew up on Motown..but backtracked to blues and even the old doo wop. Pop not so much!!
    Thanks again great listening!!

Really, I’m trying to sell houses and y’all are fighting first than posting a gazillion videos.
    ==============================================
All the video posting is pretty awesome, but I’m not sad to have missed the deleted fighting comments. Life is too short for that shit. Seriously.

hicksaholic, I know that “selling houses” is not an easy job these days. I hope things get better for you, and everyone else in your corner of the world. And sooner, rather than later!

Funny thing, just as your job has been negatively impacted by the economy, my job, sadly has been enhanced. I spend my days working to provide free medication to people, specifically to post-transplant patients, who can’t afford their immunosuppressive drugs.

Maybe that’s why I don’t take things too seriously . . . how can you spend your days talking to people who may reject their liver, kidney or heart if they are without their medication for more than 24 hours, and then come online and truly worry about somebody’s opinion of Taylor Hicks?????

    It’s all about perspective.

  132. I’m going shopping. Someone give me a call when y’all quit posting 80s music!

  133. Everyone have a happy, safe Memorial Day weekend!

  134. hicksaholic Says:

    CF,
You got your holidays mixed up!

  135. hicksaholic Says:

    Soulaz,
You’re right about perspective. That’s why I can’t imagine people getting bent out of shape about pretty much any comment on this blog because it really means pretty little in everyday life. It is mindless entertainment or at least it should be.

  136. mamaforpeace Says:

Bingo! You are so right both of you! It makes me so mad people in such hard situations have to deal with this. My brother in law is being treated for lymphoma right now, and just found out that the policy he has been paying for every month for a while now (and it was very expensive b/c of pre-existing conditons) gives him a 2 million cap, but no more than 6 doctor visits a year, and $2800 a year for tests!!! That is simply crooked!!! So now, not only does he have to deal with having cancer, he has to fight the insurance company to try and stay alive. Some of the people responsible for this should be in jail, IMO!!!

  137. Sorry, my bad…LOL!

  138. Hope all has an awesome LABOR DAY weekend! 😉

My artistic muses visited me last night and inspired me into creating greeting cards again. I have some very relaxing Zen music on, candles lit and all my art supplies laid everywhere. Fall is in the air here, so here I go with the creativity.

Oh, last night I saw pics of my great nephew for the first time…he is sooo cute!

    Have a great one all!

  139. mamaforpeace Says:

Congratulations, CF. I got a new niece this year, and can’t wait to meet her. But it will be almost a year before I do since she and my brother live in French Guyanna.

  140. PurpleButterflies Says:

So, TF6, you don’t like any new music? Just like the old stuff? Do you like the Monkees? I love them, so cool.
    ——–
When I was little, I was very sick. My mother used to lay on the bed with me and sing Daydream Believer. I liked the “cheer up sleepy Jean” part.

  141. taylorfan06 Says:

    Vintage Taylor

  142. hicksaholic Says:

    I LOVE old Taylor!

  143. CF!!!!! Train will be at the Greek on sept 30th. You’ve got to go!!!!!!!

  144. I see that! I might have to check them out. Depends on if decent seats are still available.

  145. “Vintage” Taylor, just great. Noticed Maggie G. couldn’t take her eyes off of him. A few years have gone by & while he’s a little older, rougher & tougher looking, he ‘s still handsome, sexxy, & charismatic.

  146. You all mentioned Train and I did some searching and found this.
Train lead singer Pat Monahan on Kris Allen video/single?
Unfortunate use of the word “elephant” in lyric and camera angles for a normally handsome Kris. lol. (this is old news, likely, but par for my course)

  147. Heard this one on the radio from Kris Allen…never saw the video before.
I like it better, although I know it is a cover. Promoted more than Taylor as AI winner, although he has lived in the shadow of Adam Lambert. I think he’s talented.

  148. TF6, love the vintage Taylor vid. He was so hyper that performance. But danged handsome.

  149. People. This is vintage Taylor Hicks. The sound isn’t the greatest…but oh yes.

  150. taylorfan06 Says:

Great performance. I love the energy of the crowd.
The hair is vintage as well. lol

  151. mamaforpeace Says:

One of the best thing about becoming a Taylor fan was (is, but I am not as involved) the great new musicians I discovered, new to me at least. Here is on: Jamie Lidell.

  152. I have heard of him before, but I’ve never really looked into his music. He has a great throwback sound….

  153. Jamie Lidell puts the ‘jam’ in t&jam. Can’t get enough of him.
On his new album he gets his freaky funky Prince on…

  154. mamaforpeace Says:

Reminds me of Otis Redding, Prince, and Tom Waits mixed into one.

  155. taylorfan06 Says:

Off topic, I know, but indulge me (and others here):

An amazing Prince cover that I’ve meant to put up. Love that Chaka!!!

  156. Thanks for bringing over the vids of Jamie Lidell. Never heard his music before. Cool stuff!

  157. Jamie Lidell – have all of his CDs – love him. For those who do, you might want to check out Eli “Paperboy” Reed. His new CD is “Come & Get It”, though I like the previous one, “Roll With It”, as well. Also, John Nemeth – his CD is “Name The Day!” Hoping for new James Morrison soon, too.

  158. mamaforpeace Says:

    Long live Prince Poppycock!

  159. mamaforpeace Says:

I liked John Nemeth, did not care so much about Eli Reed, not sure why. Here’s another guy I found about through Taylor fandom. Ryan Bingham:

  160. MFP-Interesting video. Not sure if I care for the voice, but it’s interesting all the same. Thanks for sharing.

  161. Here’s a relative of a friend of mine living in Nashville looking for his break in the music business. I think he’s pretty good. I’m sure he’d appreciate some visits to his page.
