“sugary white sands”, and T in a white shirt. NICE!!! Kudos to Taylor. Great spot!!!!

  2. Taylor was one of the very first to volunteer his service after the oil spill. I read that tourism supports over 56,000 jobs in Mobile and Baldwin counties. For those of us who enjoy Taylor’s music and enjoy discussing him on this blog, we can support him and his music by seeing him if he comes to a town near us. He seems like a really good guy and one who has his act together.

off topic… i just heard this song. can you imagine T covering this?

  4. taylorfan06 Says:

nice request rosie. i’ll oblige. happy belated b-day btw. i hope you had a great time!!! were you listening to Taylor perhaps? my b-day is saturday, fellow leo. i’ll be celebrating with Taylor on sunday. YES!!!

  5. For anyone who likes Ray Charles, I just read the new book by his oldest son. I highly reccomend it, even if you’ve read other books about Ray or his autobiography. The title is You Don’t Know Me, by Ray Charles Robinson Jr. The author seems like quite a man.

    Taylor and acting… maybe not:)

  7. mfp, Tay did what so many do when given a script. The secret is to just say it natural as though he were telling his best friend about the beach. He did have to fit it all in a short period of time which cuts down on being natural.

  8. casualfan Says:

Grey, thanks for posting the ad. I didn’t even know it was out there yet. Love the harp.

  9. Rosie, does Taylor pay you for being his spin doctor? If not, he should. You’re really good at it.

I have a computer that at this point does not talk. I bought what I thought was a wonderful large monitor but I neglected to ensure it had audio (and have not yet found a connection for speakers) so I listen to Taylor at work. I have only seen but not heard the commercial. I hope it goes over well. I am hoping it’s not too overdone. I mean, from the perspective of Taylor’s image. I’m sure it’s wonderful as a way to promote Alabama tourism which I realize is the point but I am always paranoid looking to see how I think Taylor will come across to the casual viewer. I always worry(for whatever irrational reason) that he will still be seen as the over the top goofy guy on AI and even if I love him I guess I continue to hope he gets that acceptance from the younger “cooler” crowd.

  11. casualfan Says:

I don’t think it’s overdone or goofy at all Hicksaholic. I love the harp opening and it’s short and to the point.

According to most of the accounts from his ongoing tour, he’s gaining the acceptance from the “younger and cooler crowd”.

No need to be paranoid. Too many are stuck in that as it is. 😉

  12. I kind of think he looks goofy in it, but that’s just me. 🙂

  13. mamaforpeace Says:

Hicks, he doesn’t come across as goofy at all, nor is it overdone. He is charming, and the harp playing of course is great. It’s just clear he is reading from a script, sorry, Rosie, nothing natural about it. I come from an acting family and studied acting for a few years myself, so I know the tricks. If he wants to get into acting, he better get a good coach! I say stick with the music cause it can be so good when it’s good. But, Hicks, he certainly has nothing to be embarrassed about + it’s for a good cause. You can turn the sound on:)

  14. casualfan Says:

AMEN MFP. The music is indeed where it’s at with Tay.

awww, I think he’s cute as a button in that commercial.

    Breathe Taylor Breathe!

  16. casualfan Says:

I’m confused….I’ve been to Dauphin Island many times long ago and I sure as hell don’t remember any turquoise water.

    Where’s Fairhope? FAIRHOPE!!!!!!!!!

  17. MFP, I too know acting and my above post was agreeing with you. I was making the excuse he had to fit it all in a short time frame. But it was not natural. Sorry I didn’t make that clear.

  18. Hi all! I happen to have two extra, pretty decent tickets to the David Gray/Ray Lamontagne concert at Jones beach this Thursday, Aug. 19. If anyone’s interested please let me know. I hate to see them go to waste!

  19. Oh man…what I wouldn’t give to see Ray L in concert!!

  20. Hey, IAG, for a price of your ticket down to Long Island, they’re yours! David Gray aint half bad either!

  21. Wish I could Momo!! Yeah, I like David Gray too!

  22. I’m confused….I’ve been to Dauphin Island many times long ago and I sure as hell don’t remember any turquoise water.
No Turquoise water at Dauphin Island, you have to go east to Perdido Pass and into to Florida to find the really clear waters. Orange Beach is much nicer than Dauphin Island. I guess the reason is that the Mobile River comes out in between the two locations.

HOWEVER, Taylor is proud of the Alabama Beaches and wants everyone to come on back to the Alabama coast.

  23. Orange Beach is my favorite place on the gulf. Love, love, love it!!

  24. I’m surprised no one’s commented on whose hand Tay’s holding as they stroll down that sugary white sand together!

  25. casualfan Says:

That’s because it’s not Taylor walking on the beach YKW….LOL!

  26. Well, CF, I have a PowerPoint Presentation complete with hand-drawn red lines that will prove otherwise!!

  27. Where is the measuring tape?

  28. Has he dyed his hair?

  29. casualfan Says:

Wonder if that forensic specialist from TX is available?

Oh, ok then. You’ve convinced me! 😉

  31. I think it’s Lyders he’s walking with. Yep. Sure do.

  32. casualfan Says:

LMAO! Wait a min…I thought it was the Marine from San Diego.

  33. Her neck is too short.

  34. Ahhh, the Marine. Could be the “spark” from So Cal, too.

Wait…check the news footage. See if Lyders was actually was on tv when she was walking the beach!!

  35. I’ve seen giraffes with longer necks than that!!

  36. casualfan Says:

LMAO! No doubt the station has already been inquired upon and Radar Online has been put on alert.

  37. You guys are so bad. LMAO.

  38. casualfan Says:

    We do what we can.

  39. hicksaholic Says:

    This degenerated quickly. LOL

I have to take up for Dauphin Island. Particularly the east end. It’s a very quaint community with virtually no condos, only a few restaurants, lots of walking/ biking paths, a wonderful bird sanctuary, and an old fort complete with stone walls where some great outdoor concerts take place. It’s much less crowded and way less condos than Orange Beach. I love Fort Morgan on the other side of the bay too.

Fairhope is on the eastern side of Mobile Bay north of Gulf Shores. It’s a beautiful town that has been developed wisely.

  40. Hey CF! I’m here. Just haven’t felt the need to contribute. You’re right, no turquoise waters at DI. You pretty much have to go to P’cola and beyond. Every blue moon you may get beautiful clear water at GS and OB. But given that, they are still beautiful beaches.

  41. hicksaholic Says:

I think they should put me in the “Come back to the Gulf Coast” commercials.

  42. casualfan Says:

But given that, they are still beautiful beaches.
***waves at FH*** I would love to visit Mobile again. I’m sure it’s grown by far from the last time I was there….say in “88”!

  43. hicksaholic Says:

If you spent any time in downtown Mobile back in 88 I think you would be impressed by the progress made in that area for sure.

  44. casualfan Says:

LOL-Yep, I’m sure I would. The first job I ever had was at “Darryl’s Restaurant on Airport Blvd. I lived in the apts next door to the mall. Not sure if any of that stuff is still there.

  45. hicksaholic Says:

Apts still there. Airport Blvd is not one of our finest creations to put it mildly. A total traffic disaster not unlike our I-10 tunnel that backs up traffic routinely.

Did you see the pictures of Taylor from last nite’s Gulf Benefit concert in Biloxi? There are at the Boogie in the News section. Great pictures but Tay needs to pack a couple of cases of chicken soup on the tour bus. He’s gained a few pounds around the middle. Some of the pictures really show it. I didn’t post that on the Boogie for fear of being stoned. Other than that he looked great and apparently sounded really good. I hope he comes across great on tv. A chance to be seen by a lot of people.

  46. casualfan Says:

Airport Blvd was a nightmare when I lived there, but at the time it was the hot spot.

LOL! Did you see that pic of his “lunch” he tweeted? Those ribs looked totally yummy! Not exactly on the Weight Watchers menu. 😉

  47. casualfan Says:

He’ll dropped a few pounds when he hits the WC. No food like that around these parts.

  48. Well first I’ve seen the ad. Nice job, really.

  49. I liked the ad. He was goofy but cute.
