It’s all about the music, right?

Just some performances I found that are, um, musically, yeah musically….uh awesome. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Yep, all about the music. For sure.

Here, just listen:

Little bit of Ray coming out of him here:

And just because I can…

O…M…G…I’ve been hit with the “WOO” again after that last one.

  4. Where as that first one been all my life? I’m stealing. hehe

  5. hicksaholic Says:

I was THERE for the last one. Taylor can turn it on when he wants to can’t he?

  6. Poke Salad Annie Says:

Yes, hicksaholic he can!…that’s what keeps me around. How lucky are you to have been there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. It’s all about the good music. I love seeing Tay interact and harmonize with another singer. Workplay last Sept was great and then there was a draught and now the music begins again. Forever Man I hadn’t seen and I see he has done a bit of Back To Louisana before Syracuse.

  8. hicksaholic Says:

He should do Workplay at least once every three months preferably 2 nights straight. That’s all I need.

I hurt my toe at work today. I thought maybe y’all needed a new topic. So…begin discussing my toe.

  11. Dis someone call a toe truck?
(Hey, I know it’s lame. I work with little kids. Gimme a break.)

  12. FH Your big toe or little toe? LOL

  13. Yo 4 Fair’s toe. Workman’s Comp, sue the joint, = money for Tay travel and concerts.

  14. hicksaholic, Tay may be doing Workplay a lot, if this tour doesn’t go well. I had a bad feeling about Ramshead live 1600 venue, which he cancelled for the 24th. He was competing with the AI tour and The Beach boys, all within a block in Balto. The Ramshead Tavern tickets for Aug 3rd are now on sale to the general public and he’s only sold about 50 tickets. His cancelling his original Epcot, leaves me gun shy. The hotel is non refundable. What a difference 3 or 4 yrs makes.

  15. From your ankles up, I’d say you sure look sweet
From there down there’s just too much feet
    Yes, your feets too big
Don’t want ya, cause ya feets too big
Can’t use ya, cause ya feets too big

  16. casualfan Says:

Rosie, how do you know he’s only sold about 50 tkts? That is really sad if that’s the case. Hopefully, this tour will be successful for him.

  17. casualfan Says:

I see that T booked a show in San Luis Obispo, CA…That’s in my back yard. I may have to go to that one.

  18. hicksaholic Says:

So, Rosie, Taylor had the big venue at Ramshead(where is Ramshead?) booked, switched to the smaller venue and now it isn’t selling either? That’s not good. I hope his other spots do better. I guess all of them won’t be sellouts, that’s probably not realistic anyway given the economy and his obviously smaller fanbase. I just hope the tour is considered a success. I think Taylor is trying to build a fanbase beyond the south so this is an attempt to do that. We will see…
CF, you better go if Taylor is that close to you. Go and report back to us.

  19. casualfan Says:

Only selling 50 tks is somewhat scary, especially when he sold that venue out back in 07. That’s a cold slap in the face for any musician. I really hope that’s not an accurate count.

Hicksaholic, I would LOVE to see Taylor but I think we are waiting to see how his tkt sales go over here. I would hate to purchase anything and the show gets cancelled.

  20. casualfan Says:

What a difference 3 or 4 yrs makes
Yes it does Rosie. This is why I wasn’t wild about him doing Grease-although I understand why he had to do it. But on the other hand, what good is making all the “right” connections if the fans have moved on? I know some don’t agree with this, but it’s how I see it.

It will be very interesting to see how well he does with this tour. I feel that he’s now testing out the waters to see what and who is still out there for him.

  21. casualfan Says:

Ok, just checked out the venue in San Luis Obispo, CA. It’s at The Downtown Brewing Co which is pretty nice. The venue is 400 which is small, but not bad and San Luis is a very upscale, yuppy sort of place. I may have to take the ga and do it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  23. Fairhope Says:

Do I hear someone cleaning my kitchen? No! It’s just my imagination. Get fat ass out of chair…Get fat ass out of chair….

  24. Ange Bleu Says:

Because of the economic situation, a lot of tours aren’t doing well. So far, seven or eight shows for the AI tour have been cancelled. Tour dates – because of low ticket sales – have been cancelled for Christina Aguilar, Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, John Mayer & Kelly Clarkson, & ‘m sure a few others.

  25. casualfan Says:

Ange, We’ve been discussing that very thing. The economy is still pretty bad and peeps are staying home instead of taking in concerts this summer. T is playing smaller venues, so hopefully that will work in his favor.

  26. Ok, just had a chance to read here and then I went to check out the tickets sales for Ramshead Tavern on Stage, just a few minutes ago. First let me explain that Ramshead Tavern on Stage is in Annapolis MD, about 45 minutes from downtown Balto. It is a small place all tables, about 330 seats and has a lot of blues and jazz acts. For expample tonight is Blind Mellon Boys and they are almost sold out. Just checked and Tay has sold only 48 tickets. I scrolled over the tables and that way it tells you what tables have been sold. This is the venue he did in Feb. 09, as a shadow gig to Grease in Balto. He is to appear Aug 3rd. a Tues. night. He was supposed to kick off his tour in Balto. at the general admission Ramshead Live, 1600 capacity standing only on July 24th, next Sat. Tues. he announced that was cancelled and he would instead be at the smaller place on Aug. 3rd. The venue not only emailed those of us who had purchased tickets for the 24th, but also called each and everyone of us to say they were sorry and inform us of full refund and that Tay will be in Annapolis on Aug 3rd. We were given a secret password, SOULPATROL, to use to sign up for tables at the AUG 3rd gig, before they went on sale to the general public, on the 16th. Right away the secret password holders purchased the seats/tables closest to the stage. I have not. The point is the sale of tickets have not gone up since yesterday when the general public was informed. Ramshead emails all past patrons of both venues about upcoming events. Several from the BB are among the 48 tickets sold. There is still 10 days and I’m sure he will sell more, but things are not looking rosey for him. I was at Ramshead live on April 07 when he sold 1600 plus GA tickets well in advance of the gig. Both venues have acts that do well, some or most charge less than Tay’s 25.00 for the 1600 venue and $39.00 for the seated 330 seat venue. Some acts charge more such as Adam Lambert sold out a few weeks ago and the Blind Mellon Guys charge more. Tay’s reputation has been harmed by the press he has had and the lack of radio play. It sucks. That TH CD was one fine CD and deserved radio play. I can’t say the same for The Distance CD.

  27. Ange Bleu Says:

Taylor may eventually have to take another Broadway gig. This is not a bad thing. If the show is successful, it will generate a lot of favorable publicity for him. However, I don’t think it would be wise of him to go on another tour with any show. I’ve heard in the past that some Bdwy producers were interested in him. One such producer was (can’t think of his name, a complete blank, did Strictly Ballroom) so maybe there are many good things ahead for him. Still wondering what Rob Shuter meant a couple a mos. ago when he was talking about an “amazing” multi-media project ahead for Tay that would allow him to continue playing his music.

  28. Ange Bleu Says:

I agree with you, Rosie. TH CD was really good. What I don’t understand about it is why sales just suddenly stopped. It didn’t taper off, it just stopped. My understanding is that the 650,000 CD’s sold in about four months, then stopped.

  29. casualfan Says:

Well Rosie, if that’s the case then the elite SP will get a private concert which is what they want. Same people, same seats.

I spoke with my friend at length about going to the San Luis Obispo, CA show and have decided to not go. Why pay to see the show when so many wonderful HQ videos pop up on Vemo or youtube? No doubt the same entourage will be filling up the front and I can get a better view from the vids.

  30. Awhile back, I guess a yr. or so ago, Caryl attended a Tay gig and came here and reported she was embarresed to be a fan. She once stated not long ago that she thought his fans wrecked his career. I’ve only been to 2 concerts and no where near the front and back then I wasn’t familiar with who’s who or the blogs and boards. I don’t know what Caryl meant or how the regulars behave, since I have not experienced it. Taylor does see the same faces over and over again. So CF, I guess you are saying why waste the money on a 2nd tier location at one of his gigs, even in the neighborhood, when you can count on great recaps and vids from the regular dirty dozens. Makes a lot of sense. Plus I don’t like to feel intimidated by others at a concert. I’m a bit shy.

  31. No vids no matter how good they are can capture the experience of a live show. I don’t fly to any one’s shows but if he gets at all near me I’m going.
I hope his shows sell well and this is just a rocky start. It sounded like most of his shadow shows sold well during Grease and they were really late night so you would think earlier shows would sell as well or better. Maybe they just don’t have the publicity down pat yet. I don’t know I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Ange Bleu: I don’t get your point? Take another Broadway show because if it’s succesful it would generate a lot of publicity for him? Well he just did that. Grease was successful and he got a lot of good press. If that doesn’t help sell tickets to his concerts I don’t think he’ll bother with it again. He’ll be trying somethingelse.

  32. casualfan Says:

Rosie, not sure what you are talking about but I can see Caryl’s point. Some of the regulars act like they have a sense of entitlement to Taylor and by the way some are behaving on twitter, no doubt he see’s it also. Some are showing their true colors and IMO-making complete asses out of themselves. But this is nothing new.

Regarding videos and shows, I meant what I wrote as I wrote it. If those wonderful peeps are traveling all over the US to see him and take vids then that works for me. There are some wonderful videos out there of his shows. Besides, I’ve seen T more than my share of times and I get it…he’s an awesome live performer.

  33. Ange Bleu Says:

Yes, I think a successful Bdwy show would generate positive publicity for him within the the theatrical community. He’s thought of in positive terms now because of his successful run in Grease. A successful Bdwy run, especially if he wins an award, could be an entry into TV & movies. As far as it having any impact on ticket sales at his concerts, I just don’t know if it would make any difference.

  34. casualfan Says:

I’m with Dee…he’s been there and done that. He was essentially the front PR man for “Grease” and not sure if it really benefited him so much as it did for the show. They had a winner by having an American Idol on board and in having him do their PR. They played their cards well.

As far as it impacting his tkt sales at concerts, my thoughts are that is exactly what Taylor was intending for it to do. He sang his song at the end of each show for a reason Ange…to promote his music and hopefully get more fans of his music who will in turn go to his concerts. The test will come in how well he sells this tour.

Taylor can claim all he wants that he wants to be an actor or be on Broadway, but it’s clear that his real passion is the music. To not have that would be very tragic for him. I wish him well.

  35. hicksaholic Says:

Videos are great but only as mementos of the live performance. It’s your call of course but I can’t imagine if Taylor was within a few miles of me, not anteing up the $25 or $30 and heading to the concert. Besides you can report back if any weirdos show up. It will be worth a dozen or more posts at least.

  36. casualfan Says:

LOL! hicksaholic, You could be right.

EXACTLY. Well said. No doubt Taylor’s heart is in singing. Everything he did with Grease was focused on raising his profle and promote his music. He worked his butt off. I hope it pays off. He may do other things to stay afloat but his passion as CF said is his music.

  38. taylorfan06 Says:

Taylor LIVE is the absolute best. I’ve seen 4 of T’s shows when he’s been here in CA. They have all been Phenomenal!!!!! The one I missed was Pala, which is south of me. I thought about going, but didn’t and did I regret that one. I missed out on seeing T do “Somehow” the first time live, as well as “TITTS”, and “Georgia”. As we know, T is at his best live, and he delivers big time. I also missed out on Warfield, which was a little out my way, and conflicted with business, but if I knew then what I know now about that show, being recorded and all, I would have made that my #1 priority. To this day, I am still envious of those that were there at that show! Seattle is another one of those shows that I would have loved to have been at, and let’s just throw in the House of Blues in Chicago, as well.

My point is… seeing T live, and actually being in the same room watching him , and his amazing band, is a great experience. I remember reading so many great reviews at a site i found in 07,, which kept me involved in T’s music and career, as well as following him on sites like this one.

CF, since you are in the area for San Luis, you could be our eyes and ears to what could be, and will most likely be, another stellar show from our Taylor Reuben Hicks. I hope you decide to get tickets and bring a group of friends with you. If i was out your way, I’d join you in a heartbeat. Like my experience, it could be an instant where you ask yourself, “damn, why didn’t i go see T? he was here in my backyard, and I missed it”. I never regretted and T show i’ve seen when he was in my “backyard”, and i doubt you will either. I HOPE YOU GO.JMO Duh!!

  39. taylorfan06 Says:

    that was, ” I never regretted ANY T show iโ€™ve seen…”

  40. taylorfan06 Says:

Watch any T video. Wouldn’t you want to just be in the audience and see his ‘magic”. I think back to idol and his many incredible performances where it be great to turn back the clock and see each one live and in person… and in the front row, of course!! LOL

  41. Fairhope Says:

CF: listen to Hicks! Going to the show and dissing on the crazies is half the fun!! Girl! You have to go and come back & report!

  42. taylorfan06 Says:

that’s all and well, fh, but why not just go for a night of great music and entertainment? sometimes i just really dislike where people have to look at things in the lowest common denominator… “common” being the operative word. just sayin’…

  43. Taylor will be a fairly easy drive from me when he appears in Laughlin, Nevada . . . about 200 miles or so. And the show is conveniently scheduled for a Saturday night!

And the sad fact is this . . . I have no interest in making the trip to see him. I might possibly check him out if he ever comes back to Phoenix, but I will never go out of my way to see him again.

And I say this without animosity, or bad feelings for him. It just is what it is. I know of a lot of former hardcore Taylor fans who feel the same way that I do. We’ve just moved on, beyond that level of devotion. I have no idea how many new fans the whole Grease run gained him, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he’s “lost” more fans like me than he has gained.

I will be interested to see if he is able to sell out the small venues that he is booking for his short summer tour. Even considering the fact that there will most likely be some of his fans who will attend multiple shows, I have a bad feeling that his sales will not be super great.

Having said all that, if CF wants to go to a show just to report back on any wackadoodle behavior she sees, then it’s all good for Taylor, because he will have sold one more ticket to one of his shows.

  44. Ange Bleu Says:

OMG, I’m well aware that his traveling with “Grease” was to promote his music & to give him a platform to promote his album, “The Distance.” He was both point man and publicist for the show. However much money he made, he was underpaid. Of course, it helped the show a bit more than it did him. I’m well aware of that. It isn’t the facts, it’s the interpretation. He has never had a truly starring part in a hit Bdwy show running at least six mos.. When he said he’s caught the acting bug, you know what –I believe him. A true Bdwy hit lasting at least six mos. would help his career immeasurably. He hasn’t been there & he hasn’t done that. Of course, as an ex-actress (might go back), I might be somewhat prejudice.

  45. Just want to say I have no idea what, why or whom Caryl referenced when she said she felt embarressed to be a Tay fan after attending one of his concerts last yr. I have not experienced crazy behavior at the 2 concerts I attended or the 2 Grease shows, but I was not near the front and had a poor view of Taylor and fans near the front. I did see a few 1960’s style hair, at the Balto concert, and some flashing pins at Grease in NY. As for the videos, Tay could always have had professions do the job, if he wanted them out there. I have no clue if having vids of all his gigs on the net , prevent some from checking him out live, or if they have helped him sell CDs.

  46. Ange, Broadway has helped Constantine.

  47. Seven Days Says:

I don’t post often but enjoy the discussion here and appreciate the diversity of points of view. I do have an honest question….something I’ve been curious about for a long time:

What aspects of Taylor still interest the folks who no longer want to see him live again, or for those for whom his recent music and/or career choices are a disappointment? I’m a strong advocate of people having the right to openly express a diversity of opinions, but I honestly am puzzled about the investment of time into someone in whom one professes to have lost interest. I think I’m missing something.

    Enlighten me please? Thanks!

    Ange, Broadway has helped Constantine
Constantine isn’t fit to tie T’s shoes-IMO. There is NO comparison. Taylor doesn’t need Broadway. He needs new music, a tour bus, fans and getting on with the Boogie! That’s what he was born to do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  50. I am no longer interested in making a major financial investment to see a concert. I did not particularly care for most of the songs on The Distance, and I did not care to see Taylor perform as the Teen Angel. These factors all played a major part in “cooling my jets” as far as being a Taylor fan.

I enjoy the back and forth on this blog, and if I feel inspired to post something I do, and if I don’t feel inspired, I just read and move on. I’m not sure why there needs to be an explanation for that.

But if an explanation must be made, I guess I’ll give you this. I still wonder if maybe, someday, Taylor will make music that makes me excited again. Because of that, I still have the habit of keeping tabs on him.

Oh, and preemptive reply to taylorfan06, hee hee . . . I’ve seen Taylor in concert about 8-9 times. And yes, I am aware that he is a dynamic live performer.

  51. taylorfan06 Says:

i wish i could get to that san luis show, and if you do go cf, i’ll be very envious of you. i bet he has some new tricks up his sleeve. i can only imagine what he’ll be playing… *daydreaming with a HUGE grin*

This is pretty much the reaction I got from a friend of mine yesterday when I mentioned going to the show. I’ve been to my share of concerts and I know the feeling of seeing him live, but I’m no longer at that place. I enjoy keeping tabs on Taylor and coming here for discussions because I think this is a cool blog and the different opinions offered up are wonderful to read.

As I said before….no doubt we will all be blessed with tons of video taken of his shows to enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  53. I would like to hear about the crazies. My suggestion is that people on twitter and elsewhere refrain from requesting and pleading with him to come to their town. He knows what he is doing and where to go to get tickets sold. It is nice to see some younger faces on twitter. Tonight he will be riding in his bus somewhere on the east coast, but peeps are already gearing up for a Sun. night twitter party. Hope he does or doesn’t do what he damn well pleases.

  54. hicksaholic Says:

I guess I should get my daughter to post. I believe I mentioned sending her and her boyfriend to stand in line for tickets for an event Taylor “might” be at. She’s still having nightmares. She swears the majority of those in line had on tshirts with pictures of their cats on them and carried hand baked or handmade items as surprises for Taylor. She was traumatized. LOL

  55. hicksaholic Says:

Also she thought he would be wise to toss those cookies or brownies.

  56. casualfan Says:

Twitter is off the hook. Seems to have become the new playground for SP fodder.

  57. Just remembered I did read about the woman who brought her birthday cake, candles and all to a Tay gig, so fellow fans could sing her happy bday. She cut the cake and passed it around after the show right at the venue. I would find that weird if I was attending a Tay concert.

  58. quondam Says:

soulaz – you have brought this long-time lurker out of lurkdom!

I could have written your last two posts exactly … well, except for the Arizona part … lol. I am one of those “former hardcore” fans who has moved on, but I remember you well. I got swept up in Taylor-mania back in the very early days (January ’06) on the AI boards. And if I shared my AI username, I know there’s at least a couple of folks here who would remember me.

I was so immersed in that group mentality, that even when I didn’t care for Taylor’s performance (Not Fade Away, Country Roads and Just Once come immediately to mind) I voted like a crazy woman to keep my man safe! Why? Because I had heard Somehow; I had heard those live pre-idol boot-leg recordings. I *thought* I knew what Taylor was capable of and felt he deserved a chance to make that kind of music on a larger scale. America had to hear this man sing the blues, dammit!!!

Saw Taylor twice on the AI tour (wasn’t really impressed with anybody and frankly didn’t really want to go back the second night). But I did, and later than fall, I even ended up being in the small crowd at the Wilkes Barre shadow show too. However, my interest was already waning, and after a lackluster CD and finally seeing the man live at Myrtle Beach in February ’07 … the obsession was over.

Oh, I was still a fan, I guess, but more of a “casual” fan (lol … most applicable username ever). I’d check out a video here and there, even tried to listen in on a couple BB cellcerts. And I lurk. Here and another site. I don’t follow Taylor on Twitter but I do read what a couple of the crazies tweet. The infamous griz (sweetsmoke1) can be cringe-worthy, tweeting rude comments to random people who dare say anything negative about her Tay. Her Twitter alter ego (whatsmytime) would do the same, although I see she has now changed that to “squirt00000” and calls herself “harvey.” Hilarious stuff … rofl.

Ah, but I digress … both of Taylor’s post-Idol CDs were disappointments for me and Grease … well, Grease almost lost me for good.

So in response to Seven Days’ question …. why do I hang on?
    Two words. Texas Flood.
Pre-idol performance recorded, I believe, at the Open Door Cafe in February of ’04 or ’05.
That’s the Taylor Hicks I’m waiting for.
That performance even now can bring me to tears.

In my very humble opinion, forget Grease and Disney and Don’t Forget the Freakin’ Lyrics crap … when Taylor gets back to the blues the way he can do the blues, that’s when I’ll get back to being a hardcore fan.
    Until then, back to lurkdom.

    P. S. Does anyone keep in touch with Thackery?
She (Becky) was one of my absolute fave posters,
both at AI and then at the BB.
    Sure do miss her!

  59. CF- I know what you mean. I have to laugh at the twitter gals who think they are helping Taylor’s career by tweeting every upcoming show and every little thing about him when they only have 20 Followers. LOL.
Their followers are probably Tay fans too. LOL. They don’t understand the concept. The only ones seeing their tweets are their followers or someone searching for Taylor Hicks. They are reaching no new people.

  60. casualfan Says:

She cut the cake and passed it around after the show right at the venue. I would find that weird if I was attending a Tay concert.
    Ya think? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  61. To address the issue of some fans losing interest, it is understandable. Not just Taylor fans but all fans in general. Very few fans are fans of someone for a lifetime. Fans who would go to see an artist very year no matter what are a small percentage and fans who would fly to multiple concerts in the same year are an even smaller precentage. I guess what I’m saying is it’s normal to ride the wave of fandom. There are all different levels of fans from fans who occasionally see a show to the hard core Buffett, Grateful Dead kind of fans. It’s all OK. Even the fallen by the wayside fans might buy a new CD, so all is good. The trick is amassing enough fans to carry a career though the highs and lows.

  62. casualfan Says:

Amen to that Dee! It’s like spinning your wheels in mud…you never get anywhere. But a few of them who own blogs are tweeting to him and acting like they are promoting him because they want him to follow them. He’s following certain blogs/boards now that are on Twitter and I see another so called fan forum preening their feathers with new avi’s and “promotion” tactics trying to get his attention. If he read their profile and their back tweets, he would not follow. The ones he’s following aren’t into the drama and participate in name calling and rumor spreading…so far.

  63. casualfan Says:

Dee, I’ve been a fan of Steve Perry for years and years and even though he’s not doing music any longer because of health reasons, I still follow him. I am a fan of his for life. I haven’t and don’t intend to dig into his personal life. For me at least, that’s the trick. Sometimes knowing personal things about a celebrity is not such a good thing.

  64. casualfan Says:

Even the fallen by the wayside fans might buy a new CD, so all is good.
That’s very true and that is what soulaz was talking about. I will always look forward to hearing T’s new music and to an extend some of the old stuff, but the giddiness has long ago worn off. I still get excited for him when he goes on tour because it is what he loves and anyone can see that. I don’t care what anyone says or what Taylor has even said about “Grease”…..I just don’t feel that his heart was into it and he only did it because he had to for whatever reasons. His heart is in his music and I find it sad that he had to sacrifice that passion for 2 years. I also believe that he sacrificed much more that is now coming back to bite him. But these are only my opinions.

  65. Correction: I was a week ahead of myself when I posted he will be riding in his bus tonight. Guess I’m anxious for this tour to start. NY is the 27th, so I guess he is chilling and rehearsing. I don’t know who Tay follows on twitter or who is trying to get him to follow them. I just know he tweeted he was looking for short witty tweets and meaningful tweets, and they are few and far between.

  66. I have been to several Taylor shows…OMG I have even flown on an airplane to see his show..I guess I am one of those”craizies’ . Really I have met all types of Taylor fans and they are diverse. I agree that some of the fans can get a little carried away..but I don’t see it so much at the shows ,as I see it in the discussions before or after, some folks like to elude to the fact the they just may be privy to info….other than that most of the fans are harmless and I think it is a little mean spirited to talk about people here or anywhere else just because they go to a lot of shows…if they can afford to go and it brings them happiness it really is no one elses concern. I haven’t been to nearly as many showa as most people ,but I have made some very good friends and acquaintances who are wonderful, intelligent. interesting women and to see people put them in a bad light really is distressing and very narrowminded IMO. I really don’t notice or care who is in the front, in the back or on the sides I;m there for the performance. and the music….. not to critic the audience.

  67. casualfan Says:

There’s a lot of things that are mean spirited that goes on along with talking about things that are no ones concern. Why don’t you post this on other blogs that discusses peeps personal lives and creates rumors about fans?

Anytime you post here, it’s to criticize something someone said.

  68. Fairhope Says:

Anne: The fact is, he’ll never attract a younger audience when they have to compete with the cookie toting grannies for a close up view!! It won’t happen!! I’m not talking concert goers in their 20’s. I’m referring to even 30 somethings! Lord have mercy! I’m not young but I don’t have a Taylor Hicks t-shirt like the 2 grannies I saw at Wind Creek. They looked so silly. I saw OBG or whatever she calls herself with some gift she was gonna give him. How much crap can they keep piling on him? Donate money to his favorite charity and have them send him a card. Do something productive with all the money you waste buying him gifts he’s gonna throw away!

When I went to Workplay they had a handicap section set up for all the grannies. You could tell it was hastily put together just for Taylor’s concert. The grannies had no business being in that bar. Then to tell everyone to shhhhh while he was singing was laughable and embarrasing. Stay out of the bars and go see him when he plays the casinos. Maybe that would be a good solution. Leave the bars to the younger crowds and the casinos to the grannies.

LOL! “cookie toting grannies” Where was that at? Those vids on youtube vs live are looking better and better by the minute.

  70. casualfan Says:

With all these cookies and birthday cakes parties at T’s shows, perhaps he should book a gig at ChuckECheese. Throw in a few pizzas.

  71. Trying to guess who quondam might be . . . I was at the Wilkes Barre show too. There were so many people from “the boards” at that show! I was hanging out with my best buddy, TaysHarmonica. Weren’t there a lot of Milkies at that show? Were you a Milkie, quondam? I mean, since you mentioned Thackeray and all . . .

Obiviously I totally remember Thackeray! She was one of my favorite posters to read back then. I was just a little too intimidated to reply too often to her posts . . . I always thought my inane ramblings couldn’t keep up with her.

Oh, the Milkies . . . so much subversive fun was created by that group.

  72. Anytime you post here, itโ€™s to criticize something someone said

i can’t beleive that supposed adult women would talk about others that are not on here to defend themselves. I deploreidle gossip and senseless criticism of others. It just is mean spirited!!! I don’t share alot of the same thoughts as most of you so I refrain from posting , but when fabulous women that I have met are being lumped in with what you and others have deemed crazies I will speak up…as I would for any human being being unfairly judged.
Fairhope..your post shows exactly what the problem is in the world…intolerance…..why would you deny a handicapped person of any age the pleasure of music and enjoying it where they please.
The largest portion of the population are baby boomers in their sixties who have every right that any 20 year old is entitled to. So you had better get used to seeing grannies at a lot of concerts. I have been to Bon Jovi shows and there are lots of grannies sporting Bon Jovi t-shirts.
So lighten up…..LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!! A good motto to live by.

  73. Oh and by the way ….If I remember correctly..the lady with the birthday cake…Taylor and the band also come out after the show and shared the cake. So I guess if they don’t mind why should anyine else

  74. I was going to bring Taylor some of my world famous prune danish and a lovely Ambrosia salad to my next concert . . . so the feeling here is that I maybe shouldn’t do that? Well, if I’m not busy serving Ambrosia to the audience and band during the show, I guess I can finish knitting him those argyle socks while he’s performing! I’ll ask him to try them on during a break in the action . . . I’m sure he won’t mind, if I ask him during a guitar solo or something, when he’s not super busy on stage.

  75. casualfan Says:

LOL! soulaz you are a hoot! Old ladies or whatever is only one persons’s opinion. This is the first I heard of cookie toting grannies and birthday cake. If it was mentioned early on, I don’t remember it. I would love to see him with a wide range of fans in all age groups.

Anne-of course they came out for the cake…musicians don’t pass on free food.

  76. Anne you make a good point. There are lots of older women at concerts. Not just Taylor’s. Just the other day a reviewer was commenting on a Justin Beiber concert and how there were a lot of screaming older women. LOL. I think it really creeped him out. LOL.

  77. I’m not exactly what you’d call a youngster myself . . . and I am totally in favor of fans of all ages being able to enjoy whatever music they enjoy.

But, I have to say that it would be nice for Taylor to see a pretty young thing in the front row of his concerts now and again. Because as much as he might appreciate all his fans, his appreciation for a PYT fan might be a bit more, shall we say . . . exciting for him?

And he is a guy, after all.

  78. Anne, We discussed the person who brought a tupperware tub of cookies to share with the first rows of SP fans. As I recall the lady came here to defend herself and seemed nice. The birthday gal was highlighted on Idletard. She showed her cake to taylor during his performance. If fans want him to be seen as cool, current, a rocker, a mover and shaker in music, then they need to use some common sense, and not do such things. It makes it seem it is about them and not him. They may just be trying to be friendly with their SP pals, but in so doing they hurt Tay’s image. People here, care about Taylor and want him to have a long career. Did you see the vids of Widespread Panics fans ? They were all ages but they acted appropriately for being at a concert.

  79. Ya know when he plays the local clubs around Bama, peeps aren’t bringing him gift bags and goodies. They just drink and talk and enjoy the music. They don’t go home and post on the net what he wore or post his set list, photos of his nostrils and nose moles. This is a cross that only the Idols seem to bare.

  80. casualfan Says:

I like those nose moles. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  81. Rosie, Believe me it’s not an Idol thing. Check over on Rob Thomas’s fan boards. They post his set lists, talk about feeling faint meeting him, Talk about M&G and post pics that show lots of the ever present Grannie Ladies
    talked about here. LOL.

  82. soulaz..I agree it would be nice to see some young women up front enjoying Taylor and his music and I’m sure Taylor would love it…however, given the type of music Taylor plays and the amount of air play he has had at this point I don’t see that happening right now so I’m real glad that the older fans are coming out in support.

  83. hicksaholic Says:

I agree with soulaz. There is nothing wrong with older people coming to a Taylor concert. It just would be nice to see a mix of ages. And the problem is if a young person does come and all they see at the front is a bunch of older women in Taylor Hicks tshirts going batshit crazy it turns them off. I know that it is the person’s right who gets there first to stand where they want and wear what they want and even go batshit crazy but the fact is it turns off young fans. And I am very sure the lady who brought the cookies to Taylor is very nice and the cookies were delicious and Taylor probably liked them but still a young fan is going to go back to their group and say”you won’t believe what I saw at the Taylor Hicks concert last night”.

  84. hicksaholic Says:

I go back to my suggestion a few months back – a special room with a reverse mirror(or whatever it is) where all the old lady fans can go, wear bedazzled tshirts, bring dozens of cookies, and go batshit crazy. The room will require soundproofing also. There will a special secret entrance so no potential new fans will see the old lady fans. Taylor can conduct separate meet and greets. He could probably charge double or triple to the old lady fans and give away or pay new fans to come to listen to his music.

  85. hicksaholic Says:

One thing Taylor is missing now is some of his original fans (old or not) that were so interesting on Gray Charles. Therein may lie the problem- a lot of the cool older fans who had such interesting posts are no longer active Taylor fans.

  86. casualfan Says:

That’s because they were fans of his music. Not hard to figure out why they left. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  87. I think we may be making too much of this older fan lady business. LOL.
I’ve read lots of “old lady” comments recently for a lot of artists, Rob Thomas, Justin Beiber, Daughtry. I think it’s all over. Apparently, women of all ages love good music and fun. My theory is that’s why we LIVE LONGER. LOL.

  88. casualfan Says:

My theory is thatโ€™s why we LIVE LONGER. LOL.
    Good theory! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You know I’m starting to loose interest in Hicks, but I love reading the comments on this blog! LOL!

FH said: How much crap can they keep piling on him? Donate money to his favorite charity and have them send him a card. Do something productive with all the money you waste buying him gifts heโ€™s gonna throw away!

Wow! I have to agree with this and stand up and applaud too!

  94. Sounds like it’s Disney this time doing the reshuffling. Maybe one of the other artists needed different dates.

Sierra, Sounds like you are stepping away from the wooo dust. Good for you! You will find your stress level going down and finding lots of entertainment.

I don’t think T really has a “favorite” charity-at least not one he’s publicly sharing. His heart seems to lie in children based charities which is always a good thing. Donating to one of them in his name is always a winner.

  96. That crazy assed Sweetsmoke/Griz made up a new Twitter account, called NFFBoard and is talking to herself. Pretty funny! Doesn’t that old broad know how embarrassing she is?

  97. hicksaholic Says:

Why would she talk to herself? To promote Taylor?

She her talking to Sweetsmoke? What a crazy woman!

  99. I’m out of the loop, since I don’t go to many blogs or boards, so I have no clue what CF means about covert gossip. Heck I don’t even know what blog has a semi porn room. On the other topic, the planners and promoters of Eat To The Beat, may be pissed at Taylor. I am.

  100. Sweetsmoke and others like her have done so much to promote Taylor and to keep other fans informed. Why diss her. Everyone is different as a fan and we all have different personalities and ideas. I know it is no fun to be talked about or misjudged. There were a couple of fans when I joined the blogs that were waaay more interested in knocking other peeps than in Taylor’s music. They were scarey peeps.

  101. What has Sweeksmoke done, Rosie? Didn’t she get kicked off the BB for being a hateful person?

  102. Freckles Says:

Well, IAG, I want to thank you for the first video. It used to be on the tube and it was removed per the user, and I was BUMMED!! That’s my favorite video of him. And my favorite song that he covers.

As for PYT’s at the concert, I’m sorry I haven’t been there. The venues are generally too far away…LOL (jk)

  103. The band is great on Forever Man, and i like Tay’s serious guitar playing and Jeff’s flute. Must say that this is one where Taylor just looks so naturally sexy, being into the music. He needs no gimmacks to look so sexy. With his eyes closed and facial grimaces singing that song and the little bit of sweat, it is not at all hard to imagine him engaging in another activity and looking exactly the same. IT would be Hard in that situation!!!

  104. casualfan Says:

All these Twitter fansites are doing is bouncing the same info back and forth to each other. It’s like watching a ping-pong match. Seems the owners of these accounts should get together and brainstorm some kind of marketing strategy if they want to effectively promote him, especially with his fandom being so small. Establishing a relationship and working with his Publicist would be an excellent resource and the most effective.

“Taylor Hicks News” seems to be coordinated and working with someone or someone half way knows what they are doing.

  105. I agree CF, brainstorming is needed. When Epcot posted their APR.22nd lineup of concert acts for ETTB, they requested comments. Well they got 30 comments that 1st week, mostly peeps saying they are looking forward to Hansen or Rick Springfield. I think there was 1 about Tay. Hicks fans missed another opportunity to promote him and creat a buzz where it counts. However ya have to be clever about what you post and can’t come across as trying to promote him. Blogers could make up fake sightings and music reviews, spread his best photos around. I’ve never understood all the interest in reposting what some random person tweeted, bloged or gave a review, Make up your own.

  106. More photos of him with more hot young women would also help.

  107. You mean like his fake red carpet date?

People do not like fake. People like real and sincere. Making some good music would alos help him.

  108. casualfan Says:

Iโ€™ve never understood all the interest in reposting what some random person tweeted, bloged or gave a review, Make up your own.
Retweeting has it’s benefits if one has a versatile following.

  109. casualfan Says:

Taylor having the opportunity to do the Disney on Ice or whatever it’s called is a wonderful thing. He will be exposed to millions of viewers who will in turn be exposed to his music. His team is obviously working very hard this time around in promoting him.

  110. casualfan Says:

Here ya go Rosie. Rob Shuter tweeted this to a fan who commented about Taylor being on the cover of Star. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@NaughtyNiceRob They should put @TaylorRHicks on the cover of Star,it’d sell then!

@anothertayfan with his secret girlfriend! Opppsss, did I say too much

  111. I think Rob has a crush on Tay. About the reposting, I didn’t mean tweets. I meant they repost reviews on the BB, not for the public to see.

  112. casualfan Says:

haha! You may be right Rosie. Rob has a partner (I think) I didn’t know what to make of him at first, but he’s a cool guy. Very nice and responds back-or tries to with everyone. He communicates more with the SP than Taylor does.

  113. Fairhope Says:

So does that mean Taylor has a secret girlfriend? I knew those bitches would find out about me!!!

  114. casualfan Says:

Guess she aint a secret no more ๐Ÿ˜‰

  115. hicksaholic Says:

Fairhope, I told you to keep the old fart close so they would never suspect Taylor.

  116. Freckles Says:

Rosie~ That’s why that video is so special (Forever Man). That’s one of them that melts my butter…

  117. taylorfan06 Says:

with people talking about being so blase about going to a T concert, i’m real curious to know…

Which artist would anyone here drop $ to see?

for me, besides T, which i would definitely make plans to see when he comes to my “backyard”, even w/ the “cookie toting grandma’s, the only other “relevant” artists i would make a point see would be green day, who just keep getting better, and tom petty, who is a rock and roll survivor, who sound as good as they ever did.

taylor is such an amazing, electric performer that surprises and delivers with every show. it is sad to read the many posts here about the dwindling career of such a worthy artist. regardless, i’ll continue to believe in and support T, who has added to my life by touching me with his music, and his depth as an artist. he does have a difficult road ahead, but i hope there will be plenty more Taylor cd’s coming the years ahead.

i write this because i’m watching the top 20 video countdown on vh-1, and i just understand how these “songs” are actually liked by the general public. the one exception would “you lost me” by christina aguilera. that girl can sing!! it’s a shame her career seems to have peaked. another great talent that is underappreciated. the gaga comparisons may have doomed her. hate that gaga!!

anyway, getting back to my point, what artist today would win out over a Taylor Hicks concert for those here? curious about your responses.

  118. taylorfan06 Says:

it won’t surprise anyone here that Taylor will continue to be my “forever man”… that voice…. and that passion… gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  119. Freckles Says:

Honestly, I’m not much of a concert goer. Someone I would just absolutely love to see besides Taylor would be…um…

    *thinking very hard*

    *tapping fingers*

Well…no one I guess. Like I said, I’m not much of a concert goer. It’s better to hear my music at home and I don’t have to pay $10 for a beer and stand in line for the potty. And with the exception of T, most artists don’t sound very good live…

  120. Fairhope Says:

In august I am going to see sugarland because my husband thinks the lead singer girl is cute. Unfortunately I have to see Danny gokey open for them. Then I’m going to see Train and Need to Breath because my sister wAnts to go and it’s her birthday. If Taylor would decide to come anywhere near me, I would fo sho go see him!

  121. Freckles Says:

let me think…I may change my mind.

  122. Seven Days Says:

TF06, I’m shelling out a bundle of money to go see concerts this year, even to the point of boarding a plane to go see live music …

—in May I flew from the Northeast to Nashville to see the Swell Season. Being at the Ryman Auditorium was a huge draw for me, and it was well worth the trip. That was a solo trip.

—seeing a few Taylor shows — saw Syracuse, am headed to NYC, Maine and VT. All done with various friends.

    — saw Adam Lambert once at Foxwoods and looking forward to seeing him again in Rhode Island in August. This is a “me and my sister” thing.

    — have tickets to the Newport Folk Festival in a couple of weeks. Hugely diverse lineup, but looking forward mostly to seeing the Swell Season, the Avett Brothers and Levon Helm.

    — have tickets to see Lyle Lovett and his Large Band at an outdoor festival about an hour away from me in mid-August. Looking forward to going with my husband to this one.

It’s a big, wonderful world out there music-wise, and going to see live music is one of my greatest pleasures! The only group that came through here that I was really sorry I missed was The Dead Weather. I love Jack White!

  123. taylorfan06 Says:

7d – i agree that “live music is one of the greatest pleasures”. I just saw that Asia will be performing at The Grove in Anaheim on 8/28. that’s where i saw T for the first time. i saw Asia back in 2002 for the 30th anniversary of their first album, which todays is one of my favorite rock records ever! they were amazing and i hope to get tickets for that show.

  124. taylorfan06 Says:

  125. taylorfan06 Says:

It was actually the “20th” anniversary of the “Asia” album, released in 1982. did anyone buy that great album back then? i think it was #1 for 15 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts back when we had “real” music.

    Ah, the good old days…

  126. hicksaholic Says:

There are rumors that Zak Brown is going to do one of the oil benefit concerts. I would like to see them… I hear they put on a great show. I saw John Legend and Ray LaMontagne at the Hangout Music Fest and they were both really good. I also enjoyed a guy – Michael Franti(?) (he’s apparently popular but I can’t remember the name of his band.
I’d love to see John Mellencamp. He has a distinct voice IMO.

That being said for whatever reason, I’d turn all of the above down to see one Taylor show. His shows take me to a happy place unlike any other shows I have ever attended.

  127. casualfan Says:

TF6-There are alot of concerts I would love to see this summer if they came this way. The money isn’t exactly the issue. As much as I Taylor….been there and done that.

  128. casualfan Says:

Sorry if my comment above came out somewhat blase…it wasn’t meant to be that way. What I meant to say is that I really have enjoyed seeing Taylor live and he does bring me to that “happy place” but I’ve seen him about 6 times already and just don’t feel the need to go again. Maybe I’ll feel different when and if he produces new music and tours then. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he sells tons of tickets to all these shows and takes many new fans to that “happy place” ๐Ÿ˜‰

  129. Since he’s had a lot of time off to rehearse, I think he is going to do some new music this tour. I don’t think we will hear all that much from the Distance. Perhaps he will do some new and old covers. I wouldn’t mind hearing a few from the TH CD and Early Works, but I think he has some blues planned and some rock.

  130. casualfan Says:

I don’t see any new music on this tour Rosie. He hasn’t had time to really write anything these past 2 years. I think he’s into heavily promoting “The Distance”-since he didn’t do it when it was released and maybe even rearranging. But one never truly knows with Taylor till he hits the stage. I think he’s just really excited about getting back onstage and doing his thing.

On the other hand…IF there is new music, may he prosper with it in abundance. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  131. casualfan Says:

Taylor is straight up blues, funk and soul with a touch of southern rock. That’s his roots and hopefully he’s figured out that is what works best for him.

  132. Darn: A ticket site is offering discounted tickets for his Highland Ballroom, NY gig on Sunday. Fifteen bucks instead of twenty five thru 5:pm Fri. The guy needs publicity or a scandal. The AI ptb and the press have hurt him. Out of site, out of mind. Former fans got pissed because he didn’t record their fav music. Some needed to feel they were supporting a winner. Many were angry and bitching and or had stopped being a fan before he did Grease, even on Broadway. Others hung around to bitch and had a bigger hissy fit when he did the Grease tour. Some may even say they told you so. Guess what! He is the same guy who you liked and voted for and found talented and refreshing on AI. It would be kind to support him now.

  133. CF, I just vented. I didn’t mean newly written music although there could be a new song. He said bad ass tour. I don’t think of The Distance CD as bad ass. There are a lot of cover songs, he can make be bad assed. Does anyone know if he has a supply of the TH CD to sell at the tables, or is it just The Distance, EW’s and tee’s?

  134. casualfan Says:

That’s ok Rosie. One of the many good things about this blog…we are free to vent. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  135. I have no problem CF with you or Soulaz or anyone whose comments I’ve read falling by the wayside and loosing interest in Taylor. The short while I posted at Morphs she mentioned a few peeps who I did not know, but had been posters there who gave up on him. The state of Alabama, the governor, the citizens once praised him and assembled for the TV cameras to cheer him. Now he is good enough to do PR for the beaches for free and to be featured in a tourism brochure, but not great enough to be a draw for a beach concert. That is life in a nut shell.

  136. taylorfan06 Says:

A lot of great points were made about T and his live persona:

HICKS – Iโ€™d turn all of the above down to see one Taylor show. His shows take me to a happy place unlike any other shows I have ever attended.

CF – But one never truly knows with Taylor till he hits the stage. I think heโ€™s just really excited about getting back onstage and doing his thing.

ROSIE – He is the same guy who you liked and voted for and found talented and refreshing on AI. It would be kind to support him now.

I appreciate the fans that you are and enjoy reading your posts. We all have our take on our Taylor, but the bottom line is we all want him to be successful, and appreciated for his talent.

It is a lot of out of sight, out mind, Rosie, especially with no airplay. It really is a sad state of affairs in my mind that someone so deserving continues to miss out on that break.

I’ve always hoped he would release that one song that would put him back in favor and let all those fans that have all but evaporated, resurface again, along with a whole new “legion of fans.” Whatever happened with “Maybe You Should”????? Will ever hear a female country artist perform it? And why didn’t Taylor release it himself? I mean, “How Do I Live” was released by both Trisha Yearwood, and LeAnne Rimes, basically at the same time with both versions becoming hits.

Maybe that’s just a fantasy for T to be in the public eye, but a comeback is possible with any one. Either way, there is no denying that we all know what an amazing live performer he is, and will continue to be. I can’t believe that $25 is too much for someone to pay for an artist who ALWAYS gives you your moneys worth. If the price has dropped to $15. that is sad and a bit of a travesty. It’s interesting that some artist that will be gone this time next year, pull in an audience, where Taylor seems not to. Flavor of the month, indeed…..

  137. taylorfan06 Says:

And I do think that Taylor will do his damnedest to put on a real KICK ASS show with many surprises and new material, probably covers, that will have the fans that see those shows talking up what a “experience” it was, and we’ll be the one’s wishing that we could have been there.

Pissy Taylor has nothing to lose at this point. He needs to create that buzz that will turn heads and give him the notice he rightfully deserves.

Hicks had the best line that I identify with: “His shows take me to a happy place unlike any other shows I have ever attended.” My first TH experience was just that. I quickly decided that my 2nd TH experience would be 2 days later at the Sunset Strip HOB. An even better show than the 1st, which brings me to my continued devotion for T, especially as a live performer. All 4 shows (so far) that I’ve seen of T’s have all been different, even doing different arrangements with the same song.

And you really hit the nail on the head with your comment cf, CF โ€“ “one never truly knows with Taylor till he hits the stage.” I still hope you decide to see him in San Luis, just to get your take on the “show”, minus the “crazy” stuff that may or may not come to fruition at that show.

  138. moonpie3 Says:

Taylor has not booked a concert on the Gulf Coast, unlike Jimmy Buffett who drew a large crowd. If Taylor would come back to his roots and perform in Alabama, he would find lots of fans who would attend a performance.

  139. Hi tf06 Don’t know if you still post on the BB. A few of us, I’m Tyme there have been discussing the discounted NY tickets in the Highland Ballroom thread, under NEWS. Your input would be welcome. The present state of Tay’s career is less than ideal or sucky. A few are in denial. Denial is dangerous.

  140. moonpie3, I thought he wasn’t invited to grace the beaches with Bama promotion. I thought they did not consider him a national or big local draw. He could book some of the clubs there, but I got the drift from the governor and cable stations they are looking for peeps like Buffet.

hey rosie, i knew you were tyme. i haven’t posted in a while there. i’ve lurked recently, but not as much as i used to. i’ll have to check that out. it is a sad reality though. the same kind of applies here. sometimes i’d rather just read. my lack of posting has no regard on how i feel about T.

  142. moonpie3 Says:

Rosie, where are you getting your info? I live in Alabama and personally know alot of people who support Taylor.

  143. casualfan Says:

He could book some of the clubs there, but I got the drift from the governor and cable stations they are looking for peeps like Buffet.
That’s because Buffet has a HUGE following and is indeed a big draw for the cause. Of course they want to attract the major headliners.

  144. casualfan Says:

Buffet gave a FREE concert for the people on the coast.

  145. Moonpie, trust me I feel your pain. Perhaps I watch too much TV, the 4 main cable/news TV stations. They have all done pieces on the oil spill, CNN makes it a full time thingie. I’ve seen and heard your governor and other spokespersons about the oil spill and consequences. They want big names to do free gigs on the beaches, to help promote the local and state economy. They want to fill the hotels, condo rentals, restaurants, and have the local stores sell their wares. Seems they have ignored Tay as a big draw. I’m just reporting what I’ve heard on TV. Taylor would love to be invited to headline or be a part of his states free beach concerts to promote his states tourism.

  146. casualfan Says:

Taylor would love to be invited to headline or be a part of his states free beach concerts to promote his states tourism.
How do you know that he wasn’t invited but had to turn something down Rosie? Isn’t it fact that he’s had to cancel several appearances at different functions already in order to get ready for this tour?

Taylor has contributed to the gulf cause by donating his time to PSA’s for the state of Alabama and has most likely done other things that we aren’t aware of.

Just because something isn’t made public and available to the fans doesn’t mean it’s non-existent.

  147. hicksaholic Says:

I feel pretty comfortable he hasn’t been invited for the Hangout Music Fest or the Buffett concert or any future oil spill benefit beach concerts that are in the works. As huge a fan as I am of Taylor I think I would have heard from my nephew or brother. I never got a response from the head guy of Bayfest(who is a friend) as to whether he had booked Taylor or not. I know he told me Taylor had expressed an interest in playing Bayfest and the guy was asking me if I thought he would be a good draw. As I was enthusiastically saying absolutely I was cringing a little thinking of some fans Taylor might attract. I think it’s safe to say that Taylor is not a big enough draw to headline a beach concert… I was hoping he might be an opener for somebody big.

  148. Just read taylorfan06’s question about who would we go see in concert:
I would still go and see Taylor (and I might soon), he does put on a great show but, if I had the money, I would probably do nothing but go and see people in concert. I would go see: Green Day, the Killers, Sting, the Police (if they ever tour together again), McCartney, Ringo Starr, the Moody Blues, U2, Ray Lamontangue, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, Billy Joel, wow, the list could go on and on……… If I were a millionare I would travel the world and see all the greats in concert. It’s a nice dream anyway.

  149. Hey, he was asked to do the commercials. I think that was showing how much they think of him. They even supplied the private state plane topick him up and fly him back. Buffett was the obvious choice for a big free concert. I don’t see the problem.
When other shows go on I’m sure all Taylor would have to do would offer to come and he would be welcomed. Concerts like this count on volunteers. Just like anything else the first invited are usually buddies of what ever band or artists is putting it on.

Sierra… I’m with you. If only we could win the lottery!!!!

  150. The only concert I am planning to attend this year is David Gray & Ray Lamontagne in September. I think it’s going to be an awesome singer/songwriterish show.

I’m confused . . . are people upset because Jimmy Buffett has a gulf relief concert and Taylor doesn’t? Jimmy has been a proud son of Alabama for longer than Taylor has been alive, hasn’t he? He is also an extremely wealthy man and savvy businessman with a HUGE following. I would guess he would be the type of artist that would be capable of generating really LARGE amounts of donations, which I would think is the main focus of a relief concert.

Anyone ever been to a Jimmy Buffett concert? Because I have been to several . . . and I can tell you, his fans are something else. And he has a buttload of them. Even though I have no doubt that Taylor has a great many devoted fans in Alabama, I cannot believe he could even come close to generating the amount of revenue towards a relief effort that Jimmy Buffett can.

But having said that, it’s obvious that Taylor is doing everything that he can to help . . . and I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for that. And who knows . . . maybe if Taylor keeps plugging away and keeps his focus on his live shows and creating amazing new music, he’ll eventually have a Buffet-like career in the long term. Remember, Jimmy Buffett got hardly any radio play either.

  151. I need to back off a bit with my Taylor obsession. Worrying about him and following each and every tour gig may drive me bonkers. Never again will I get so invested in anyone, and I’m beginning to believe in that woo dust theory.

  152. hicksaholic Says:

    It’s difficult to back away.

  153. Poke Salad Annie Says:

Soulaz, I agree with you on Jimmy Buffett, he has a ton of loyal “Parrothead” fans, and he sells out his concerts. Except for one point. While he never had that many No.1 hits, he did get a ton of radio play back in the 70’s…you may be too young to remember, but I do…My son won an elementary school talent contest singing “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” and he’s now 41 years old. Of course, since Jimmy lived in Key West at the time, maybe it was just in Florida that he got the radio play. He’s always been a favorite in beach communities…I worked next door to a clothing store in St. Augustine Beach that sold beachwear and played Jimmy nonstop for 10 hours a day…Even that one that he refers to as a “different kind of love song” (Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Scr–” Don’t want to offend anyone. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ok, I am a granny, but I don’t wear sparkles, moo,( I’m still cackling over that one, FH !) bake cookies, or fly around the country to see Taylor. I do like his music…and unfortunately, the kind of music he sings attracts us older folks…I’m sure most of Jimmy Buffett’s fans are older, but he appeals to their kids, too, because that’s what they heard growing up. Taylor would be fortunate to have a career like Jimmy’s.

I don’t think anyone is upset because Jimmy Buffett had a gulf relief concert and Taylor didn’t….his time may come, cause the gulf is still under the gun. It’ll be while before that mess is cleaned up, and Taylor may get more chances to help out I hope so.

  154. Hey Annie . . . I’m definitely old enough to remember the 70’s! Graduated high school in ’79! Maybe its a regional thing, as I lived in California at that time. I do remember hearing Margaritaville on the radio, occasionally. But I guess my point is that if you look at just how phenomenally successful he has been over the years, you might think he got a LOT more radio play than he did. He’s the poster child for building a career on live performances which drive his CD sales. A business model that Taylor would be wise to find a way to follow. I’ve been spouting off about that since 2006. But does Taylor listen to me? No . . .

Oh and Rosie . . . you can still follow him and be interested after kicking the Woo Dust habit. You don’t have to go cold turkey or anything. Look at me, posting here . . . often times more critical than he probably deserves, but I am still here. Checking in on him and hopeful for his future. It’s a much less stressful place to be, I can tell you that.

  155. Poke Salad Annie Says:

” Heโ€™s the poster child for building a career on live performances which drive his CD sales. A business model that Taylor would be wise to find a way to follow. ”

100% Agreement on that reference to Buffett, Soulaz. And I agree with you on the less stressful place to be…..checking in occasionally, and hoping.

  156. over the years , I have heard Buffet on the radio a lot. He gets played on country a bunch. Margaritaville was a big crossover hit and they wore out 5:00 somewhere with Alan Jackson. Have heard others too, can’t remember all of them right at the moment. Never liked him all that well, he did have some good songs tho.
I’m glad Taylor himself doesnt’ cause me any stress. I just enjoy him.
    Some of the fans? Meh.

  157. Henry I worry about Taylor’s career and stress about the unfairness. You get pissed at the fans who critisise him or his music. I bounce off my concerns with those fans and it helps ease my stress. Maybe all Tay needs is a hit like Margaritaville. His version could be titled Jaeger bomb (sp). Looking for his lost can of Red Bull. Some peeps say there’s a woman to blame, but I know if I just find that can.

  158. Freckles Says:

Is it just me or does anyone else think Red Bull is just nasty. If I want a caffeine boost, I’ll just drink coffee…

  159. hicksaholic Says:

I had it once. It tasted like a strong syrup. It was very nasty.

I guess the BB doesn’t get my humor. I just got a comment deleted. I don’t think I’ve ever had a comment deleted. Oh well…..

  160. hicks, Join the club. I’ve had about 3 deleted there and a few here. Was it in the Highland Ballroom thread? I’ve never had a red bull.

  161. I’m with ya, Henry . . . I don’t enjoy many of Taylor’s fans either.

  162. I just read the last few pages of the tweets to Taylor. I will say some fans don’t seem to have common sense when it come to sending him tweets. I think they are trying to give him a stabbing headache, right before he heads out on the bus.

  163. casualfan Says:

That is normal Rosie. Anytime there is major activity in Tayland the little trolls come out to play. They feed on drama. T’s buzz tower is now in overdrive.

  164. Now, I didn’t say many soulaz, I just said some. ๐Ÿ™‚

  165. Rosie said: His version could be titled Jaeger bomb

    LOL! Rosie that was hilarious!

  166. I love all the cute little tattletalish tweets to Taylor. Because I’m sure he appreciates them so much. And, no doubt, they really put him in the mood to create awesome music.

Unfortunately, it probably gives him false hope that his fanbase is much younger than we all assumed. Because surely ADULTS wouldn’t do that, right? He must have a contingent of junior high fans out there, patrolling the internet, looking for insults to report back.

Maybe if I say something critical enough, I’ll get reported to Taylor too! That way, at least he’ll know I’m alive! Okay, here goes nothing . . .

“Boy, that Taylor sure has a funny crooked nosebone! I hear that he got it from a nasty former habit . . . yeah, that’s right I’m going there! Taylor used to pick his nose A LOT!”

Wish me luck . . . Taylor is SO gonna love reading about this one!

  167. Fairhope Says:

So what the hell is a buzz tower?????

  168. Fairhope Says:

CF: who is the hag “Karmakid”? If she keeps dissing you, I’m gonna cut a bitch!

  169. Soulaz, that is how his nail biting habit started way back. Longer fingernails used to make his nose bleed and sore when he picked it.

  170. I don’t know exactly what a “buzz tower” is, but I’ll bet you can get one hell of a contact high there.

Oh, and I knew it, Rosie . . . there had to be a connection between the short fingernails and the crooked nosebone. It couldn’t just be a coincidence!

  171. We know how the BOOGIE board came up with name.

Now, I didnโ€™t say many soulaz, I just said some.
I stand corrected. And if you enjoyed ALL of Taylor’s fans, I’d think you maybe had gotten that contact high from the buzz tower. ๐Ÿ˜›

  173. “Oh Taylor, what’s you favorite this or that, could you wish me happy birthday, what will you sing on tour, whose the band, will you tweet us tonight, So and so is a real bitch Taylor, rosie talks about ur balls, Soulaz said you pick ur nose, I started a petition for you to come to my city, but not the week of —, cause I have a wedding to go to, when’s ur next CD coming out, did you get the golden goose I gave you in 07, did ya open the scrap book I made ya, don’t believe what so and so says, Could ya confirm the Epcot dates a fan in England needs to know, come south, come south, Taaaylor where are you, luv you Tay, just listened to DIMYP, will you sing more Beatles songs on tour” And a 1000 apos later.

  174. Have you been spying on me again, rosie?

Hilarious . . . I think you hit on every pathetic tweet scenario. ๐Ÿ˜€

  175. moonpie3 Says:

Rosie, you have no idea what kind of pain is happening in South Alabama.

  176. moonpie3, I guess you mean pain for the people affected by the oil spill. I know it is very sad. What I wrote had nothing to do with that. I was just doing a silly run on scenerio of fans tweets, and taking some liberties with same. I don’t know if you misunderstood me or what. I haven’t posted anything here or anywhere, anyway that should upset anyone in the Gulf states. I have a silly sense of humor and give into it, from time to time. Guess you could say I’m confused by your post. Maybe you just wanted to chat and inform me of the problems there.

Rosie, you have no idea what kind of pain is happening in South Alabama.

  178. I think she means South Al. is in pain because of no Taylor Hicks concert. LOL. I’m in pain too. None close to me either. I’m sooo pouting!!!!

  179. casualfan Says:

Looks like Twitter has officially become the dump site for bashing/hating/lying about fans of late. It’s really sad to see all of this showing up on T’s real-time line for millions of potential fans to see.

A few twits act like they are spilling coveted government secrets by outing cybernames on who is posting where and what name is being used. None of this nonsense makes any difference in the grand scheme of things and certainly has no effect on Taylor or anyone else that is important.

If peeps take any of my comments as bashing or hating Taylor, then so be it. I can’t control what anyone thinks of me, nor do I care. I have posted my opinions and I stand by everything I have said. I’m certainly not the only person who has had strong opinions about what he is doing and won’t be the last.

Regarding anyone being kicked to any curb or what Taylor knows or doesn’t know…..all of that is speculation and unless Taylor himself has come out with some public service announcement stating any of the above, then it’s all rumor and nonsense. Sorry, but what grandmas, cousins, aunts or best friends say counts as hearsay only and not proof.

bscopp/karma900/girlinreds-I suspect all is one person or two sisters, but I’m only speculating. But whoever you are, you are in serious need of a hobby, or getting a pet or something because your apparent fixation on me is getting ridiculous. Tweeting Taylor all this none-sense only makes you look bad and doesn’t hurt me at all because I have nothing invested.

Minions are out in full force while the Puppet Master hides behind her locked door and continues her manipulating games.

Someone recently and very wisely tweeted there is no winning with the cyber bullies and she’s right. Really sad that Taylor is being put in the middle of this drama by the very ones who are claiming I’m a hater and basher. They don’t even follow him on Twitter which speaks volumes.

I apologize for the rant, now I’m done…now ON WITH THE MUSIC! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the offer, but I suspect the Karma Train will be pulling into the station soon enough. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  181. casualfan Says:

And to the Jackass who tweeted that anyone has profited off Taylor Hicks, you should provide proof of that allegation because not only have you slandered one person, you are now slandering a business, an entire staff of people and the business associates connected.

You obviously read here and do intense research so I know you will see this msg.

  182. hicksaholic Says:

I am really confused. I don’t know Karmakid or anything about who or why someone is dissing cf.

Rosie, my deleted comment was in the Highlands Ballroom thread. I thought I was being funny replying to all the “worrying” posts by suggesting T dress in Adam Lambert’s costumes and do an FYE cover. I guess somebody thought I was trying to start a gay rumor thing but that wasn’t the case. It was merely my warped sense of humor.

Another beach concert Aug 21, probably Faith Hill or Jack Johnson or Zac Brown. No T at this point unfortunately although he is going to be in FWB a week later at “Military Appreciation Day”. I am trying to decide how to explain to my husband my new found desire to appreciate the military more by heading to FWB.

  183. CF, Karmagoon made an ass of herself yesterday in the midst of all the real fans lightheard tweets and excitement about the tour . Hicksaholic, I read your witty comment before it was deleted. My hunch is that a certain mod thought you were poking fun at the glitter alien. That’s considered a no no. We weren’t allowed to play guessing games there about Tay’s surprise tour song. Lol about the new found desire to give kudoos to the men in uniform.

  184. hicksaholic Says:

I like Adam- I thought they thought I was poking fun at Taylor. The reality was I was poking fun at all the worrying but I didn’t mean it mean.

Who in hell is Karmagoon? Is that a Boogie poster? Guess I need to go over there and read a little more closely.

  185. Don’t take your deletion personaly. They try to avoid conflicts there, but sometimes when they delete or chastise they make it worse. People knew you were just going along with the publicity/scandal thing I started. Thanks goodness there are other places where there are less rules. That reminds me I never read the rules when I joined the BB, lol.

  186. hicksaholic Says:

I know, Rosie, it does take away a lot of the fun if you can’t talk pretty freely. I am always pretty careful anyway not to say what I’m really thinking particularly if it’s fan related to not hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m actually the type person that if I like you I will give you a lot of crap. If I don’t or I’m not sure I will attempt to be overly polite.

  187. Hey all…been on a little vaca, but I’m trying to keep tabs on everything while I’m away. Thanks for keeping it real and behaving!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  188. I’m gonna see Taylor. He tweeted Epcot is confirmed and back to his original Oct. 9th and 10th dates. Good boy. It isn’t wise to try to screw with Disney.

  189. casualfan Says:

Cool Rosie! Glad you are able to see him. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  190. hicksaholic Says:

Does that mean he’s skipping skating?

  191. casualfan Says:

Tay is officially in Tour Mode! Wooohooo!

  192. All that drama and stuff on twitter- that’s why I stay away from that place. Can’t stand to read all that mindless garbage. It’s like a really bad Jerry Springer show. I don’t know how Taylor can stand it.

  193. casualfan Says:

I agree Sierra. It’s rather pathetic that some have taken what could have been a positive direct line to Tay and turned it into a polluted playground. But little gems can often be found in the dirt if one looks hard enough. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  194. Ange Bleu Says:

Just wondering, how’s tkt sales at Rams Head doing. Read on another blog that so far less than 100 tks have been sold & T will be there in about 2 wks. Wondering if it’ll be cancelled if most of the seats aren’t filled. Never go on twitter as I consider it inane & time consuming trivia.

  195. hicksaholic Says:

    Unlike this, Ange Bleu? LOL

  196. mamaforpeace Says:

Thanks for posting that CF. I’m glad Taylor is back on the road, where he should be!

i do enjoy the T fan sites though. THAT i’ll make time for! hehehehe

it baffles me about the lack of sales for T. i wish i lived out that way. i’d definitely be there celebrating the brilliance of T’s performance!
…and what about that band?? you KNOW they’ll be bringing it!
“tear that whole place down”, and then be on your way to the next gig boys… maybe we’ll see you in CA??
    i’ll be wishing and hoping

  203. Poke Salad Annie Says:

TY, TF6….I have “Pieces of April” on my Ipod…and “Jeremiah”…Three Dog Night is one of my favs, and now I’m wondering why I don’t have “Out In the Country” since I love that one, too…Guess you are old enough to remember good music. This is why I love Taylor’s music so’s raw, natural, with no voice enhancers. He came along 30 years too late, I’m afraid.

  204. hicksaholic Says:

    You’re right PSA,

Thirty or forty years ago Taylor would have been extremely popular. No voice enhancers, popular singers were not 14 years old with no substantial life experiences. Between his old school music and being older with gray hair he has had a hard road to climb. I am afraid I was drinking the koolaid back in AI season 5 thinking Taylor was going to change the face of music back to real music. Good thing I don’t make a living signing artists.

  205. Poke Salad Annie Says:

I think all of us that are left here sipped some of that kool-aid, Hicks….I was hoping for that miracle , too, but things just didn’t go the way I expected. I’m still a fan, always will be. Maybe what he lacks in wild popularity, he’ll make up for with longevity.

(oh, and I know that Jeremiah was a bullfrog is actually “Joy to the World”….just can’t get past thinking of it as the frog song. ๐Ÿ™‚

  206. taylorfan06 Says:

“frog song” very funny psa. LOL indeed!!!

cf- the lack of sales i was referring to was the less than 100 tkts sold for RH. i definitely hope that changes for him because “the show must go on” and on and on…

  207. taylorfan06 Says:

cf’ thanks for the CTW video! definitely one of my many favorites of T’s. that’s true taylor in all his glory. and brian gallagher on sax! that man is amazing. wish i could get to rams head and to ny. what’s the status on that show? anyone know?

  208. casualfan Says:

It may pick up TF6. He’s doing a ton of media and peeps usually wait till the last minute these days. Tay will do fine on this tour. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  209. taylorfan06 Says:

I would want nothing else cf. i can’t wait to hear about the show and set list. i really think there will lots of new stuff and surprises! did you decide to go to the san luis show yourself? one fan at a time helps to SELL OUT a show. just sayin’….

in the meantime, all i want is for a T to be a “star, baby!”

a great forgotten song from the Guess Who. Burton Cummings has one of the greatest voices ever. this song came from the lp. “Road Food”, which i still have on vinyl. it has yet to be released on cd. Great album! and yes psa, i am old enough to remember good music. it’s all i know.

  210. taylorfan06 Says:

I would love to go TF6, but I’m taking a pass. After receiving several DM’s, and an email explaining that it would not be in my best interest to attend a show, I’m guessing a few of the cyber-bullies will be attending. The Puppet Master is playing her game of intimidation.

  214. Tay tweeted Naughty But Nice Rob needs a date for The Highland and the lucky person gets to meet Tay.

  215. casualfan Says:

Whoever the lucky person is will no doubt enjoy meeting Rob…that’s a treat in itself. He looks like he’s fun to hang around with.

  216. So, cyber-bullies are trying to keep the “undesirables” away from the show? The man is not selling out 300 seat venues, and they think he wants his fans to screen potential attendees for him? Really???

Poor Taylor . . . seriously. He does NOT deserve that.

And to the bullies? Life is good . . . go and get one.

  217. taylorfan06 Says:

  219. Ange Bleu Says:

  220. Poke Salad Annie Says:

THE WORST Cyberbullies are older members of the SP. I have never seen such a bunch of vindictive people in my whole life! They bash individuals who take their passion for Taylor and turn it into something for good. For some reason they cannot understand why some fans will “do good ” to honor Taylor.

I can’t imagine anybody telling anybody else not to attend a concert. Why would they dislike you so much cf? It’s not like you are one who does nothing but bash Taylor.
I say go and shove your way to the front, wear a top with rhinestones that spell out “I love Taylor more than anyone”, take a huge drink in a little glass to be sure it sloshes on everyone, a big poster to block everybody else’s view, and be sure to get totally drunk before you go. You’ll fit in up there somewhere.

  230. yes, CF. Wear a glittered up puffy paint SP tee shirt, bring a big-ass SP sign, spill your beer on everyone and be sure to video tape Taylor’s nostril hairs and most important yell out “Taylor, I love you” a million times. Take pictures!! I wanna see that!!

  231. Taylor sang ‘Love The One Your With’ on Fox & Friends this morning. Loved his sun glasses and hope he does more cool covers on this tour. I think The Distance has run the distance and its time for him to be a little more edgy. Pray that if he sings MYS or 19, on tour, no one says shhh.

  232. i just bought 3 tickets to the Aug. 3rd Ramshead Annapolis show.

  233. casualfan Says:

Congrats Rosie! Raven….I think not! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  234. casualfan Says:

  235. casualfan Says:

The highlight of that performance was Jeff Lopez…He always brings it home.

  236. Fairhope Says:

My god he looked fantastic and sounded even more fantatstic!

  237. Fairhope Says:

Today I am so jealous of all the glitter fraus that got to go to NYC. I love NY. I can’t even imagine how much fun it would be to be there tonight!!

And who is this Skeeter that won the date???

  238. Skeeter is a groupie-stalker. She goes to every single one of his shows. Don’t know the lady personally, but I would say she’s not all there, if you know what I mean.

  239. casualfan Says:

FH-Skeeter is one of the ladies who gives us great video of his shows. Would have been great seeing a fan who has never met T get the shot to meet him tonight, but I’m glad she won. It’s fun watching her tweet about her excitement. I’m excited for her. It’s contagious. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  240. There was nothing dorky about his look or performance this morning. He did SMB afterwards, it’s up on Fox. He had his harp in his back pocket but couldn’t find it and it was a bit awkward, but he kept his cool. I hope the regulars don’t mob Rob tonight.

  241. casualfan Says:

Who said anything about his performance being dorky? He has a lot riding on this tour so he’s probably scattered and nervous, which is to be expected. My attraction to the performance was Jeff Lopez’s talent on the sax and not so much Tay. Jeff has always been a favorite of mine with wind instruments.

Rob was a Publicist to some high-profile celebs so I would imagine he has plenty of experience with excited fans. He’ll enjoy the attention.

  242. hicksaholic Says:

I’m jealous too. I have a feeling the group that goes tonite will be treated to an unbelievable Taylor concert. His first tour stop after all the Grease shows, I think he will be over the top.

Speaking of what Taylor needs to sing on tour, I KNOW what I want- I want a full version of “Try A Little Tenderness”. In fact I want it so bad I am going to suggest it at every possible place in hopes that Taylor will see it and think about it. Do you think he would consider performing TALT?

  243. casualfan Says:

Some are tweeting pics of the new merch. Interesting indeed…

  244. I want him to sing ‘Trouble”. He was a little dorky at times on Idol. Today he was cool and hot. Cf. I think he had a much better band on his 07 tour, including the sax player. Just watch the ‘Compared To What’ vid you posted a few days ago.

  245. Off to check out the merch.

  246. I love the lettering of his name on the shirt, but at first glance I thought the guitar in the center was the Monopoly Man logo.

  247. casualfan Says:

The guitar is a Dobro. I like the lettering on the shirt too Rosie, but unsure about the Dobro although it is nice. I’m not into wearing clothes with musicians names on them, but give me a Clapton shirt any day.

You are right, the 07 band was the best, but my heart is still with Jeff Lopez. The important thing is that Tay has an ensemble that “gets” his sound which I think he has on this tour. Sam and Brian has been with him for years and they are “brothers”.

  248. casualfan Says:

Rosie, I looked at the shirt again, and it’s growing on me. I really like the design. The shirt looks off-white with brown although I can’t be sure.

  249. Skeeter Says:

I SOOOO wish I have been to EVERY single concert..In my wildest DREAMS! Taylor is in MY neck of the woods now and I intend to enjoy every single moment of it! SORRY some of you folks seem to have a problem with me, but I WONT be losing sleep over it.

Tonights show was INCREDIBLE and so was my “date” with Rob! He is a real HOOT and MAJOR FUN was had all around…dancing, drinking, and enjoying watching Taylor DO what he does best.

I just dont get some of the things said here, but I dont HAVE TO…I just had the “TIME OF MY LIFE”!!! and it doesnt get ANY better than that!

  250. Skeeter Says:

And JEFF LOPEZ and Brian LESS?? WOW!!! LOVE seeing all these guys perform with Taylor. Their LOVE of music just oozes out their souls, and Taylor is the ULTIMATE band leader!! Just a JOY to watch and experience. I’ll be THERE as long as they are.

  251. Fairhope Says:

Huh? What brought that on? Good for you skeeter. I think we all wanted to be in your shoes last night. And I will speak for the group and say we think it’s awesome that one of taylor’s truest fans was rewarded so richly!

  252. hicksaholic Says:

I think most everybody here was very excited for you. I’m sure you had an experience you will never forget. I bet Taylor was at the top of his game last night. I will be there when he comes back south. Enjoy him while you can.

  253. casualfan Says:

Skeeter, Not sure why you felt the need to post the way you did but most of us here are happy for you and said so.

We are all entitled to our opinions and thankfully this is one of the few places in Tayland that allows for us to do so.

  254. Oh CF, you and I both know that the MORE things CHANGE, the MORE they STAY the SAME!!

  256. Poke Salad Annie Says:

Just watched the vids of Taylor on Fox and Friends…I was impressed…he was really smooth and seeing that he has 3 old friends and band members…that was Sam Gunderson in addition to Brian Less and Jeff Lopez?..I agree he had a great band on this 07 tour ( still remember “Boogie’s” bass playing on “Gonna Move” in the first show in Jax…the roof was literally hovering over the Florida theater! ) but I think this one is going to be just as good. Taylor is a superb bandleader. There was that little awkward moment when he couldn’t find his harp, but meh, what man can find anything?

Skeeter, congrats on your “date”..I’m sure it was the time of your life. Good for you. We’d all love to read a more detailed review when you have time. Right now you probably just want to bask in the afterglow ;).

Don’t know if it’s just me, but our man seems to have developed more stage presence, if that was possible, and his singing and phrasing are even better…again, if that was possible. Can’t wait to read the reviews of his first show…I’m sure there will be some on the “Booger Board”, LoL.
I’m really optimistic about this tour…just hope my plans to see him in Epcot actually happen. I think this is one tour not to miss.

  257. casualfan Says:

I read a short re-cap of last nights show on Twitter by a fan. It was what I consider a realistic one and much appreciated. She enjoyed the show and acknowledged that T always brings in the goods…which is true, but she also acknowledged seeing him in a different way from how she use to. She didn’t make a fuss about what he was wearing, how he looked or even if he shook his ass on stage. She did say that he had a lot of pinned up energy and that he made a funny comment about his ADD. She wasn’t wild about “Bulletproof” and neither am I. She left the show feeling satisfied but also felt a little sad because she knew in her heart that would probably be her last show. This person clearly loves Tay and greatly appreciates all the fun, talent and entertainment that he’s given her these past years, but knows it’s time to move on from being an over-zealous fan.

I found her whole recap interesting and even gained a whole new respect for this person. It’s amazing what one truly discovers, especially when one is able to step away from the “wooo dust” and simply enjoy the music.

  258. hicksaholic Says:

I’d love to read the recap. I guess she felt she was devoting too much of her life to follow Taylor’s every move?

  259. casualfan Says:

That’s basically what she is saying hicksaholic. She still loves Tay’s music but has realized that she doesn’t have to worship every thing he does. New Found Freedom indeed.

  260. Yes, this is what I myself am experiencing at the moment. I’m tired of being so obsessive about a fantasy. I want a real life. I’m slowly starting to get one!
