Taylor back on the AI stage…

Random thoughts from the AI finale:

What the fuck was Paula smoking? And why didn’t she give any to Ryan? I would have totally taken another “Ryan is stoned.” night..

Taylor’s date was probably one of Bret Michaels’ groupies.

Is it just me or did Janet Jackson sound exactly like Michael? Remember the old conspiracy theory? I’m just sayin’…

The reason they didn’t show all the winners congratulating Lee was because Bice, Hicks and Clarkson were in the green room with Paula. She’s a sharer.

Oh, and I love how they showed Taylor in one of the opening shots. That was awesome!

Was anybody else freaked out when Jordin Sparks started singing instead of Taylor? I thought…ohnotheydidnt. So, who wants to take bets on whether Taylor missed his cue or it was planned out of sync like that?

I will say this: he looked good. 🙂

I love how Taylor kept edging away from Justin Guarini. Do you think Taylor thought Justin was Richard Simmons?

Did anybody else freak out when they heard the opening notes of Taking it to the Streets? I really wish Taylor would have been able to sing with Michael McDonald or Joe Cocker.

And in the above video…I don’t think the Idols sounded good together. I’m pretty sure it’s because they were trying to “diva” up each other. *sigh*

I thought it was the best finales out of all of them, even though I didn’t follow AI this year. The guests were great. I’m always happy to see Christina Aguilera who is one of my favorite female singers. She has one of the most amazing voices when she wants to. It was good to see her calm and acting cultured again after that atrocious video she just made. It’s not necessary for her to be so raunchy when she has such perfect vocals. Chicago saddened me. They weren’t good. I saw them when I was 16 and loved them for many years. The poor things lost their singing voices. The BeeGees always put a smile on my face. Bret Michaels looked good. The conspiracy theory was with LaToya Jackson, not Janet. I thought Janet looked spaced out. She must have a lot on her mind. Always loved Joe Cocker, so that was a real treat to see him. Love Alice Cooper, Hall & Oates. The Idol men sounded like wounded animals. Loved the tribute to Simon.

  2. PurpleButterflies Says:

sigh, it’s too early and no caffiene yet. That is supposed to say the best finale, not finales.

  3. Haha and agree with some of your remarks. Poor Eliott, his fans must be livid. Don’t know why anyone would have believed he and T would sing a duet. Very few of the past AI finalist have the star power of Taylor and the previous winners. I’m talking about knowing how to handle the press and looking and behaving like a star. It was a good night for Taylor, he mingled for a few days, made some connections, was seen on the finale and can now rest for awhile. The date was good in that it got the SP off picking the wedding invitations for the Arizona gal. The performers were old and some lost their voice. Simon looked nice and was well behaved. Lee headling the tour and Doing press will be a trip. Discounted tour tickets anyone?

  4. Grey Tay was on TMZ wearing your favorite blue sweater.

  5. I enjoyed it for the most part. Loved Alice Cooper and yes, Janet Jackson sounded SO like Michael in the first song she sang. I thought she was great. I also freaked a little when I heard “Taking it to the Streets”. I really thought Tay would come out for a moment. I’m just glad he was included in the line up and got to sing with everyone. I could hear him above the others- he was singing his head off! Did a wonderful job. 🙂

Lee’s reaction to winning made me want to reach through the TV and hug him. I hope he toughens up soon, he’s going to need to be stronger.

  6. casualfan Says:

I wasn’t impressed with last night. I enjoyed Brett Micheals but that was about it. Only saw T for about 3 seconds and it was nothing prevalent. To bad Daughtry, Cook and Lambert couldn’t be there. According to to Adam, he wasn’t asked to perform. Seems the gossip rags are claiming something else but I believe what Adam says. Besides, he’s busy with his sold out tour as with the case of Daughtry and Cook had prior obligations.

  7. PurpleButterflies Says:

Last night I was trying to remember if the two loves of my life, Josh Groban or Bruce Springsteen, were ever on any of the finales. Does anyone remember?

  8. casualfan Says:

Bruce never was. Not sure about Josh Groban. If Bruce was on, we would all remember that one.

  9. casualfan Says:

Here’s Josh Groban on Idol Gives Back in 07.

  10. Freckles Says:

I hated this finale. I thought the entire night stunk! Oh Taylor was going to sing, I thought he was going to sing a duet with ELLIOT, not with a whole effing group. Not to mention, that I was unimpressed with EVERY SONG!

Also, when TI2TS started, I leaned forward, and then Big Mike came out. WTF? Seriously, were they just dickin’ with us or what?? Then, when Jordin walked out, I was like OH NO THEY DIDN’T!! But then Tay came out.

Paula looked great, but she shouldn’t open her mouth. The skits were bad. The duets were bad. Christina, Janet, Carrie, they all sucked. Best song of the night was Alice Cooper’s School’s Out. Other than that, I wasted 2 hours of my life.

    Never again, Idol. Never again.

The best finale was S5. I’m not just saying that because Taylor won, but because they did the Golden Idol awards. It was fun. Then Clay shocked that one kid…just a good time. This was not fun, not a good time…hell not even good music.

    BLECH!

  11. PurpleButterflies Says:

I remember Josh on Idol gives back. I watch that video with the African Children’s Choir a lot. I watch all the Josh videos when I am in the mood to gaze longingly at him. lol Don’t mock me. lol Seriously though, his voice takes my breath away. But I couldn’t remember for the life of me if either of them were ever on a finale show.

  12. PurpleButterflies Says:

Thanks a lot casualfan. Now I’m not going to get any work done. Gazing longingly at Josh Groban while heart goes a flutter.

  13. casualfan Says:

Freckles, I agree with you. Not sure if I even want to watch Idol anymore. Simon and Paula were the glue that held that show together. I also agree with season 5 being the best. It’s not just Taylor with me but the entire group of contestants from that season. That was the most talented pool they ever had on Idol.

Hate to say this, but Taylor just didn’t impress me last night. My heart didn’t go flip-flop and I didn’t see stars. I guess with his lack of music and no prospects of any new music anytime soon, he’s become a sort of dead spot with me. I wish the man all the success, but it’s just not there for me and hasn’t been for a while. I have had loads of fun on this blog and have immensely enjoyed every one’s comments-even the ones I didn’t agree with, but I have to pull myself out of this vortex and get fully back into my real life again.

Seems I’m the only one left that is deemed as negative towards Taylor, so with me stepping back hopefully the fans will return and Grey will have her Taylor Fan blog back.

Guess last night was sort of a means of an end to the era with Taylor Hicks.

Goodnight and good luck all. 😉

  14. Taylor’s “lack of music and no prospects of any new music soon”. Don’t understand where you are coming from CF? He did The Distance and will be working on a new CD soon. Seems about in line for most artists.
The fact that he is doing that surprising concert in Colorado says to me he still intends to make music. Sorry to lose you CF.

  15. datilpepper Says:

I kind of liked last night’s finale…I’m glad they included Taylor however small his solo was….I’m sure it was hard for him to be there with Michael McDonald and Joe Cocker, and not get to sing with them. Any yes, most of the singers were old…that happens…time waits for no one. But I enjoyed seeing them anyway.

Hope you don’t go away CF…you don’t have to be a Taylor homey to post on here. I’m strong enough to take any negative comments and either agree with them…or not.

I’ll probably not stop watching Idol…I will miss Simon. On a lighter note, I agree Paula should not be allowed to talk…She might be a space cadet, but she looked terrific. All in all a pretty good finale.

  16. I thought that finale was about as bad as it could get. I found it boring and and the music was very mediocre lat best. I think maybe Taylor missed his cue but thought his voice sound strong and clear and he looked delighted to be on that stage. I was impressed with him when he held his hands above his head in the applause for Simon as to encourage more appreciation from the audience ( not that the crowd needed prompting) It was just a respect thing from Taylor.

CF….just curious as to your “no prospects of any new music in sight” comment and how you know this for a fact? Did I miss some comments or something…because according to Taylor he is going to take some time and work on some new music. He has been busy lately working his day job and now has some money and time for his passion…MUSIC!!! Real life has a habit of makeing us work for other than our passions for time to tome. Those pesking bills and living expences can knok the shit of of our dream life…he is lucky he can do the dream life now for a while.

  17. PurpleButterflies Says:

Hate to say this, but Taylor just didn’t impress me last night.
    ———–
I cried when I saw him on that stage. I would share my heart, but it would only turn into fodder, rumors, hatefulness, jealousy, and bashing. Not here, but elsewhere. Suffice to say, there were a lot of memories in Taylor Land. I met my very best friend four years ago in Wilkes Barre. I love her more than a sister. Seeing Taylor on tv brings back memories of so much. Endless hours of working to help him-helping promotors, coordinating, sending charities and soldiers to concerts and a lot more that only a few are aware of. It brings back memories of traveling around the country, having lots of fun with friends. Having soldiers emailing and sharing what it’s like to be away from home. Befriending a man who can make you want to scream or soften your heart depending on the day. He has a beautiful voice. He should be at a different place from where he is right now. He needs help whether people want to admit it or not. And I wouldn’t put it out there if it was only my opinion. There’s a dwindling fanbase. People have moved on for different reasons. There is an array of emotions for me when it comes to all things Taylor Land. Happy memories, sad memories, frustration, admiration, empathy, compassion. I cried when I saw him because I felt bad. He’s a great singer and he was where he should be. Oh well I guess I shared a bit of my heart even though I was hesitant to. Haters can begin now with the “she thinks she knows him” and every other gossipy fodder.

  19. Freckles Says:

OMG! Didn’t think that would work! That’s for you CF!! Sorry to see you leave. Hopefully you’ll just be a lurker…

  20. PurpleButterflies Says:

He did The Distance and will be working on a new CD soon. Seems about in line for most artists.
    ——–
He’s not in line for most artists. He isn’t, Dee, and even he knows that. I really think it’s important to say because if fans want to help him, they need to understand the reality. The man needs help from fans. I understand being hesitant to help because fans don’t want to deal with some other fans. Believe me, I really understand that part. And I know people who were very active supporters, but refuse to go back. I don’t know what the answer is.

  21. suze4158 Says:

Man, I love that song. Thanks for posting, Freckles. CF, take care…lurk like me and come back to post sometimes.

On the finale, I only saw the part with Janet Jackson and then the group singing tribute to Simon. Bleh on Janet. I was relieved that Taylor came out singing.
Thought he looked great, sang well, and was a great representative of the best AI season ever.

Not sure how I feel about the winner this year…maybe not much at all. I think that Crystal and Lee will make decent albums and that I will buy Crystal’s. (but watch me eat those words when Lee makes the hit of all AI hits or something.)

Simon will be missed, and his leaving will likely implode the show. (Although I think he’s basically more evil than the rest of us, lol)
    Cheers to all.

  22. suze4158 Says:

PB….can you explain “helping” Taylor? I thought the last article I read on him he was “laughing all the way to the bank”? Forgive me, as I am out of the Taylor loop, but your statement and what I’ve read seem to be different.

  23. PurpleButterflies Says:

Suze, I really don’t think it’s commonplace for anyone who has achieved fame and kinda sorta went downhill in that fame status to state such in interviews. That’s really all I’m comfortable putting on the internet.

  24. casualfan Says:

Hopefully, Taylor will NEVER find himself in this situation….just sayin.

  25. taylorfan06 Says:

cf – taylor put music out there. it’s not his fault he doesn’t get airplay. it’s just a shame to me how that has become a reality with his music. i find his songs so much better than 99.9% of the music on the airwaves today. there were definitely some radio friendly songs from TD, but i guess it just wasn’t in the cards for taylor to get a “hit.”.

that to me does not mean that taylor is irrelevant with his music and has nothing on the horizon. he was definitely busy over the past 2 years with grease, which i am still happy for him – he had a great run, and rec’d numerous raves from the critics for his performance. and i was glad to see him myself in Grease, if only once.

taylor is an entertainer and i truly believe he will return with more music and acting gigs, be it tv, movies, or theater. he is a shining light and has a great energy that i think will continue to keep his name and beautiful face out there.

whether i continue to post here or not is irrelevant. i know that i will still continue to stay invested in his career path and support him every step of the way – emotionally and financially. but here again, my thoiughts will be of surprise to no one here.

taylor is a positive in my life so why would i react any differently? just a fan for life here. i see nothing wrong with that.

the following i dedicate to Taylor Reuben Hicks, my #1 AI:

  26. PB, I wish I understood your post? How many CD’s a year is he supposed to make? And What do you expect fans to do to help him? Just wondering?

  27. Purplebutterflies, I don’t know you and I’m not a hater of any of Tay’s fans, but you are coming off in your comments a bit strange. At first I thought you were saying by he needs help, some drug or emotional problem. I suppose on 2nd thought, you were just saying he lacks enough fans to have a hit song and that he is fudging about his finances. No one here can help him, not even you. Most all of us here buy his music and see him if he appears near us. While I would like for him to have a radio hit and be a star, it is what it is, and will be. I don’t get your purpose and yes you do come across as though you have inside info. I doubt he is requesting sympathy from you or anyone.

  28. Freckles Says:

  29. Freckles Says:

All we can do as fans is be there. Every other attempt made by the “soul patrol” has failed. Let him do his thing. All we can do.

  30. casualfan Says:

Freckles, I didn’t say I was leaving. I need to back off posting so damn much and get back into the real world…LOL Thanks for the video.

Rosie-PBF has had a close working relationship with both him and his management for years now and is respected for the work she has done and continues to do. I think her post have been miss-understood by some.

  31. Freckles Says:

CF~ sounded like you were leaving, just saying. But I’m glad your not.

As for me, I’m not “in the know” so sorry if I took it wrong regarding PBF.

  32. taylorfan06 Says:

2 random comments from “fans” about Lee that I totally understand:

#1 – If you think he sang on key then you better get your ears cleaned. I recommend Debrox. He was off key Tuesday night. He murdered “Beautiful Day.” It’s ironic that he worked in a paint store considering watching paint dry is more interesting than watching Lee’s performances.

    #2 – WORST…SEASON…EVER! LEE CAN’T EVEN SING! STUPID 14 YEAR OLD GIRLS!

They both had me laughing! HA HA HA HA HA HA

  33. PurpleButterflies Says:

Rosie, I understand your confusion. I don’t post much stuff like that so no one knows how to take what it was that I was trying to say. No, I did not mean help as in substance abuse. Freckles, he wants the fans’ help joining together to spread the word that he is still very much out there.

  34. Freckles Says:

Believe me, PBF, the people in my life are well aware of him…it hasn’t helped his cause any… But I still think he’s the sexiest thing walking…

  35. Cf, I hear ya with the too much time invested. It’s fun for me for now, but I have no man or kiddies in the house and can work from home. I got ya about PBF’s remarks. One thing I will say is he could have grossed that much over the 18 months of the Grease tour and Cd sales etc. For all we know they could have paid him $4,000 or more a show and paid for his off time besides. He was the only big draw and got up each week to do the press for the show. Since it isn’t my business, I tend to take him at his word and the guy is looking rich and successful and does a heck of a lot of smiling and laughing. No doubt about it, he and we thought his AI win, would be his big break into the music world.

  36. Speaking of hot, handsome and or sexy, did you all check out the pics of him on the red carpet. The purple shirt worked there and I think he posed even better than he did back in 06 at the AMA’s. He certainily looked better than he did at the AI 07 finale and for his appearance last yr. on AI. He looked better on that red carpet last night than anyone.

  37. taylorfan06 Says:

I understood you perfectly PB. I still do my part to keep friends up to date of the “going-ons” in the life of Taylor Hicks. I share plenty of that on FB.

Those who can’t read between the lines sometime start up with the spreading of unfounded information that become wild rumors. IMO

Drug use? Really? Come on, we are smarter than that. Right?…

  38. taylorfan06 Says:

  39. mamaforpeace Says:

I like Paula. She was, as always, very entertaining. I much prefer her ramblings to Kara’s insipid comments any time.
As far as Taylor is concerned, I’ll buy his cds, go to a show whenever I can (if he ever starts doing them again), but that’s about all I can invest in someone I don’t know. I still think if he wants to maintain a fan base, he has to produce something. In Taylor’s case, the best he could do I think is keep doing gigs. It may not pay off as much financially, but it will keep his fans engaged, and hopefully make new ones.

  40. I have no clue regarding what percent of his overall fans, read about him online or post comments. It seems there just are not that many fans left, given his low sales of The Distance out of the gate. So my opinion is he should do little in the way of keeping the ardent, active fans, and do what he needs to do to get new ones. He picked up a couple hundred new followers the last 2 days. That’s cause he was seen on TV looking good. That is why, for now I vote for movies or TV, as much and as often as possible and no matter how tiny the role. Being seen with several beautiful girls would also help. It is all about publicity and making waves. Then the music career could and would pick up.

  41. A couple hundred huh Rosie? Wow. Where did you get that figure from?

  42. casualfan Says:

Good God! R peeps keeping a running count on how many followers he has day to day? LOL!

  43. Henry said he supposedly picked up about 200 followers. C’mon CF, you know some still keep track of his myspace. They are going to do what they like to do, such as vote on all the twitter walls and talk about everyone who disses him. I assume fans of all the idols do such things. It is what it is and the online fans who post are not the be all or end all of Taylors life, nor do they have much to do with his success or lack of same.

  44. hicksaholic Says:

    MFP,
I would love to meet you. I think we are on the same page on a lot of things.
Also, The REAL people in my life are WAY too aware of my Taylor obsession so I don’t know that I can do more to help Taylor. You know Taylor is between a rock and a hard place. His die hard fans are women considerably older than him and some are pretty scary(not all mind you). This perpetrates the rumor that he can only attract older women fans. These are the fans that buy multiple copies of his cds, travel across country and stand in lines for numerous meet and greets, so they are his paycheck. How does he lose them without losing his paycheck? Don’t get me wrong, I think Taylor is fine with some older fans just not all older fans
I bet the night he won AI he never imagined what he was going to get.
I’m telling you Taylor’s preAI, AI and post AI journey would make an incredible screenplay.

  45. suze4158 Says:

It is what it is and the online fans who post are not the be all or end all of Taylors life, nor do they have much to do with his success or lack of same

    ———————————————————————-
Amen, Rosie. And to think otherwise is delusional.
What controls the music industry is music business execs, not fans.
Case in point, to me, is the latest craze on Justin Bieber.
Taylor Swift also comes to mind. Had not the execs hyped these young uns, there wouldn’t be a market for them. Not saying they aren’t talented, but that most of their “popularity” is manufactured from the minds of execs to your radio and multi-faceted promotional push.
Our man Taylor did not receive that kiss of approval. He had the fans after AI to pre-catapult him to furhter fame and fortune. He just did not get the nod.

  46. I happened to catch Taylor on Inside Edition. He gave them an interview last night about Simon leaving. He looked great. Hicksaholic and MFP, those fans are not his paycheck. If they were, he’d starve. Only Taylor can help Taylor. He is good looking, talented, charismatic and driven. So he will try to make a splash some other way. None of the Idols can make it just by having obsessed people who loved them on AI as fans. They need to either write, sing, or produce good music, appear on Broadway, TV or film, or make a splash in some way. Taylor gets it. He is reworking things and What PBF’s said, I took with a grain of salt. The very last thing he needs is BB peeps or any of us acting like psychos and doing public relations for him.

  47. Suze I agree with what you posted. But since he didn’t get the nod, he now has to reinvent the wheel.

  48. suze4158 Says:

To substantiate the “Taylor is good looking” point. Nicely executed red carpet, Taylor….

  49. I think Taylor is fully aware of the slippery slope he is on. That is the reason he made the Grease deal. He needed exposure and still does. I hope some of the TV or film offers become a reality because he can use exposure or success in any field as a spring board for his musical career. Sometimes it’s just luck or timing as to the reason a singer gets popular. Beiber has hit it big because young teeny boppers are all the rage right now. In a few years we probably won’t even hear of him. Taylor has already lasted 4+ years so he may beat out Beiber in the long run. LOL. If Taylor had just been born in another time he may have been as popular as Elvis. The same might be said for Katharine Mcphee. Both seem to not quite fit the music scene for today. I think they both still have a shot but may have to get it the long way around. LOL.

  50. It is what it is and the online fans who post are not the be all or end all of Taylors life, nor do they have much to do with his success or lack of same.
    ——–
You would be surprised how much online fans can do when they ban together with a mission in mind.

  53. Good grief, as I was reading taylor TWEETS I noticed that his followers on twitter had increased. Thought it was worth mentioning that while he was smoozing in LA he had picked up a few.
It was not a big news bulletin.
No loud sirens or flashing lights. 🙄

  54. And just an FYI, I don’t keep a running count on anything. But , actually, now that I think about it, it would be a better passtime then seeing how many different ways I can diss him.
    Whatever .

  55. Purplebutterflies Says:

    Only Taylor can help Taylor.
    ——–
To some extent, but the fans can help too. Look at this video. See all those people in the back? And the kids? All from here, Girls Inc which celebrates girls voices. http://www.girlsinc.org/index.html Four fans brought them there. This video was before the concert. Missing from the video were the couple of hundred soldiers that one fan brought in, along with a banner paid for by Coca Cola that the military base saved. Fans can do a lot, Rosie. A whole lot.

PB, with all respect, if I am really going to put my energy to help a cause, it will be for something that matters more than TH. I guess also that for me, it really doesn’t matter if Taylor is a big star, or a star at all. Being a working musician is a good thing to be. Now if fame and fortune is what he wants, then yes, he’ll have to compromise, try to break through with TV (ok, then do DWTS!!!), movies, whatever. That’s his call of course. As for myself, I don’t need to feel validated in my liking of TH. I think he is a damn good musician, that he has loads of talent. I’d rather pay to see him in concert in a small venue that see the kid Beiber, or Lady Gaga, or any number of big stars.
And Hicks, I’d love to meet you too:)

  59. Purplebutterflies Says:

That about sums it up. You hit the nail on the head.

  60. Purple, I also love Josh Groban and think he has an awesome voice. And I’ll always be a fan of Taylor too. I hope he stars in a hit movie that will give him the exposure he needs.

  61. PBFs, I watched your Hagerstown Md. vid of Taylor’s old press appearance. I live in Maryland and know Hagerstown. Perhaps you put up the wrong vid, since there was nothing he said or the interviewer said that had a thing to do with our discussion. Sadly I learned about your troop drive, a yr. or so ago on that awful rag Idletard, where that obsessed freak, enjoyed making fun of idol fans. Our service troops mean a lot to Taylor. I brought a non fan to NY to see Grease and another to see it in Balto. I’m going to Disneyworld with one of them to see T. at Epcot in Oct. My thoughts are if some Taylor fans are driven to promote him, they should do so on the net for the most impact. Instead of reading others blogs, or comments about a performance, they should write and create their own stir. They can post pics, make up reviews, and just be positive and creative. But I still say, it was he who had the balls to buck his parents, drop out of college and do his music. It was he who formed bands and was agressive with promotion, auditioned for AI and won. He is the won who knows what he wants and how best to get it. So I back off of being his PR peep. What you did with the troops was great and I know he appreciated it as did many of the nations service people. But I think he is OK and not as needy or weary or wanting as you suggest.

Rosie, that’s great you’re going to Epcot. I almost went last year but didn’t think it would be as good a venue as it wound up being. I might need to go this year if I can swing it.

  69. casualfan Says:

I agree hicksaholic. I think overall that is probably the most common thread between all of us-at least on this blog. Wouldn’t mind going to see him in Denver, if my schedule will allow but no interest in the Epcot event. Flying from the west coast to the east coast isn’t justifiable for me…at least not for that. Hopefully he will get back on tour soon and come out this way. Looking forward to tours and MUSIC!

Saw pics of T’s date for the AI finale. She’s a total cutie. Sort of reminds me of Nicole Kidman a little.

  71. The great thing about Epcot is the exposure to audiences who probably have never heard him live.

  72. Talk about memories, PurpleButterlies! Posting a comment here brings back a lot of them. I watched the tribute to Simon on youtube and felt like seeing what was being said online, so here I am.

I thought your comment was nice, PB. Why Taylor’s music never took off should be studied on a college campus somewhere. It’s fascinating. The fact remains that he was popular on American Idol. Afterwards? Not so much.

I don’t understand it. I’m sure there were a lot of factors. I know why some of my TH friends left, but that’s a pretty small group. Wait. Did I just insult myself by saying I don’t have a lot of friends? Getting off track……

I personally know people who left the fandom and were never heard from again because

    1. graycharles shut down
    2. Taylor showed up in photos with CL (hey, I’m just saying what they said to me. I’m not saying it was right)
    3. of Grease

PB, I don’t know how we can help Taylor. From my point of view, the fans have hurt him more than they’ve helped him. I respect your opinion, though. If you could be specific that would be helpful.

Freckles, I saw them on twitter. Perhaps you can check out TaylorHicksNews. She’s really a cutie and they do look nice together. Hopefully, peeps will leave them be to whatever they may have. He seems to have a companion-whether she’s a friend or beyond. He needs someone to share himself with. Good for him. This is all I will say of this matter.

    Cheers everyone!

  74. What is up with some of the fans of the male single idols regarding who the guys date. Cook’s fans went on about Kim Caldwell and called his other dates skanks. I bet when Taylor won AI, he never expected peeps would do backgroud checks on everyone he is seen with or mentions. Does Archie date? Is the checking up and commenting only done by older fans or do you think teens also get into it? Some had Siobhan and Lee hooked up and now some are saying Crystal and Lee are an item. It all makes me laugh, but the poor guys from AI suffer. Even Adam’s fans comment on his men.

  75. His date was adorable.I think for the most part Taylor’s fans are happy he had someone to share this great evening with. Friend or lover??? I hope he finds both in one fantastic person

  76. casualfan Says:

Please tell me that you aren’t referring to the simple comment I made about his date being cute. I’m not speculating, googling then posting what I found, or posting pics or even pumping that naughtyrob person for any info because it’s not that important to me. There is plenty of speculation and rumors elsewhere for that.

  77. My comment had nothing to do with your comment CF.

  78. Talk about crazy you ought to read some of Justin Beibers fans. LOL. He isn’t even shaving yet and the tabloids try to link him up with serious girl friends. His fans had a fit when he was pictured with Miley and then later Kim Kardasian as if she’s be interested in the little pip squeak. LOL.

    ————
Hiya caryl! It’s good to see you and chat with you again! I think that Taylor’s music took off very well, considering what he had to work with. The TH CD did well in the beginning, when he had a major record label backing him. He had no radio play, but every time he appeared somewhere during that media blitz he had, CD sales went up the next day.

I compare it to being an Amazon merchant. Years ago, when they invited me to be a jewelry merchant, I didn’t really need to do heavy promotion of my jewelry any more because I had their backing and all the fringe benefits that go along with it Amazon is the king of the internet stores. They also have thousands of affiliates who promote the Amazon products on their own websites. Then they have the mega affiliates like shop.com, nexttag.com, and bizrate.com who also promote Amazon’s products. If I didn’t have all that, I would not have the sales that I have. Also if I didn’t have all that, then I would be very thankful for anyone who put a link to my site on theirs, or tweeted about my jewelry, or spread the word in any way, etc. I would need all the help I could get, know what I mean?

When you really think about it, who does Taylor have? The major record label is gone, and with that goes a lot. He has a manager who manages him-sets appointments, coordinates his schedule, etc. A PR person-tries to put Taylor out there through interviews and such. He doesn’t have the entourage of help that some people think he has, which is why he needs all the help he can get. Online fans can do a lot to help. I’ve been studying internet marketing for over ten years, and have seen the power of the internet. When mega mommy blogger Dooce tweeted that someone was missing, that man was found pretty quick. That’s the power of the internet and those who jump in to help in any way they can.

  80. PurpleButterflies Says:

Talk about crazy you ought to read some of Justin Beibers fans. LOL.
    ——–
True, but look at the effect that online fans have on his career. He’s a trending topic on Twitter a lot. His fans put his name everywhere. All that subliminal marketing pays off because his name is stuck in people’s minds. It gets people who weren’t normally interested, interested. It gets the media to take notice too. Human nature makes you curious. You find yoursself wanting to know about what you see all the time, and it forces you to be interested and look further. I found myself looking at a youtube video of him all because that name was always in my face on twitter.

  81. I’m not tech savy, but I’ve always thought that fans who blog or tweet could create a buzz. Something like Taylor Hicks received tons of mail when he finished up his recent successful Grease tour. Fans are always bitching about what so and so blogger wrote that was negative about Taylor, then they bring it over to the board or blog. They could do their own blog or blurb. He may have gotten more attention had he dated a celeb, back in 2007 to keep the press wheels turning. He could do that now and being on the red carpet with a pretty girl was a good move. It’s late and I’m tired and most likely make no sense.

  82. PB what you say is true. I just wish we knew how to get massive hits for one of his videos on UTube and have enough fans to make him trend on twitter. As it is I think as fans we do pretty well and Taylor seems to have more fan sites than many of the idols. If we were all on one site we would be pretty high in number. LOL.

  83. PurpleButterflies Says:

I just wish we knew how to get massive hits for one of his videos on UTube and have enough fans to make him trend on twitter
    ————-
We have to get people with big followings and websites with big followings to mention him. People out of the fanbase have no idea what he’s doing. That’s evident by doing a twitter search on Taylor Hicks and everyone and their mother thinks he disappeared into never land. A wave will start if enough people and sites with big followings mention him. Most Taylor fans seem to have the majority of other Taylor fans as their followers, so those are the only people seeing their tweets. I have almost 7,000 followers, but every time I try to mention Taylor I lose followers. LOL That’s okay though, I can deal with that. LOL I’ll try harder to put him out there on Twitter. Everyone else should gain more followers who are not in the fanbase and talk about him too.

I had gotten permision from Amazon to put Taylor and the troop drive into my store profile, but that didn’t go over well with the peanut gallery who said that I use Taylor to sell jewelry. If I used Taylor to sell jewelry, I would starve. Anyway, I took it down. It’s a shame too because all the customers looking for jewelry on Amazon saw that in my Amazon profile. People out of the fanbase were curious enough to come to the troop drive page and find info on him. Taylor once said to me in the most heartfelt way “You use your business to market me. That has got to be very hard.” I said “It is hard.” Maybe I will put it back up on Amazon. Haven’t decided yet.
    ————
If we were all on one site we would be pretty high in number. LOL.
    ————
That’s really true, you know. Josh Groban has two boards. One is a regular board and one is on his official site. It helps when everyone is on one site. Makes the board look busy to outsiders. There are too many Taylor boards and blogs and everyone is split up into groups. It also does no good to make boards private if the goal is to promote Taylor. If the goal is to have a private place to chat, and the admin doesn’t want it for promotion, then I can understand that. But Taylor fans talking about him to other Taylor fans does not help promote him at all.

This all makes me feel a little dizzy! I find it a bit disturbing.

  85. casualfan Says:

I feel the best way to help Taylor at this point is for the fandom to repair itself-if that’s possible. Let T’s management handle his business, which they are well capable of and stop trying to give advice to them. I have offered up my opinions as everyone else has on this blog and on others, but that is what they are…opinions. If someone has a vast amount of experience in marketing and really feels they can help T promote himself into the mainstream populace, then they should perhaps submit their resume to his management team and go from there. Undoubtedly they will prove an invaluable asset to him.

I’m not dissing on anyone or finger pointing, so don’t anyone assume that I am. I’m only observing and offering my opinion on what I’m reading and as MFP said…it is a bit disturbing.

  86. hicksaholic Says:

I’m not sure Taylor’s current group of fans can help him too much except buying his music and attending his concerts(and sometimes I’m not sure given the demographic of Taylor’s fans that attending his concerts is a big help). I think things like this Rocky Mountain Jam are great. He needs artists with a diverse fanbase to appreciate him and mention what a great performer he is. He may even need to be an opener for some popular act if that’s possible. That may have been a mistake after AI, not going on the road with an act with a non AI fanbase.
PB, good analogy with Amazon…. I guess with all of our conspiracy theories it could just come down to no major label backing. Of course now he gets more money.
MFP, perhaps you think our time would be better spent trying to stop the oil spill than ways to market Taylor. LOL

  87. hicksaholic Says:

Also, caryl….. it is amazing to me that any of Taylor’s fans would quit being a fan because he dated someone. Or do you mean the whole she’s a fake girlfriend thing which is even more amazing? I hope those people are not allowed to vote for president because God knows what they make their decision based on.

I do respect what she has to say and her opinions. But I really feel that the fandom needs to repair itself, let the water under the bridge empty out and stop hating on the things we don’t understand. That’s an ongoing lesson for me as well, but I admit to it and I’m improving. And as you said…buying T’s music, seeing his shows and giving him his props when we can is really all we can do. I would think that is all he expects of us. He will tell us when and if he needs something.

Great idea! Another great promotional idea is to contribute to the community. Taying if forward….

  94. Hicksaholic- one fan told me the photos w/ cl proved that he was a liar coz he kept saying he didn’t have a gf. She felt manipulated. Another was flat-out jealous. Yes, it was ridiculous.

I dunno. Maybe that’s the reality of being an AI winner. There’s some level of “ownership” among the fans who voted so loyally and incessantly. I’m not judging those people, I think it’s just a fact .

But we’ve been over that and over that. Let’s not go down that road again.

I’ve never been comfortable promoting Taylor. I knew my dog n’ pony blog was just for the established fans. It seems to me that T has more resources than we do to promote himself. Crazy obsessed fans shoving CDs or whatever in someones face is more of a turn off than anything.

  95. Oops, hope that didn’t come off as an insult to you, PBF. I respect the work you do and you promote Taylor in more subtle ways

  96. PBF good points. There does seem to be a negative backlash in trying to promote Taylor Hicks. I don’t tweet his name too much because of that. I try to do it in a less direct way. Like I might tweet part of a song clip where Josh and Taylor are jamming and make the tweet about the music or Josh. Also, I’ve just tweeted “This is my fav song” and not mention who it is in the tweet. I think that gets people to look who would ignore it if Taylor’s name was mentioned. I even got a good response once from someone who said, That’s Taylor Hicks?? LOL. I also tweeted the Jam concert coming up but did not put Taylor’s name in the tweet. So they would find out about Taylor only after they read the other names involved. If we get some good clips from this event we could use it to reach more people than just a Taylor event might reach. So put your thinking cap on PBF and find some places where this kind of media might get the most Buzz. If the clips are high quality as so many have been this might be a really good way to help. It’s something that has helped a lot of artist’s including Dave Matthews. He gives alot of credit to early fans sharing concert clips for his success.

  97. I was on a high after the exciting week Tay had and I also thought he was on a high. So it was a bit depressing to read Purple’s original post. He mentioned in an interview Wed. night that Simon told him last year that he should get into movies. Something exciting may be just around the corner for him. He is driven, and while he is the same guy with the shaggy hair from the pre AI days, he should feel proud of his success. I think he will be the cockroach who outlasts the rest. The big music career bombed, but lots of Grease goers were exposed to his pleasant voice. Hudson has the voice of an angel, but isn’t tearing up the music charts. Side bar—- his double chin was missing the other night.

  98. Rosie My hope is that if he gets into movies he’ll be making the right connections to get some of his music into the scores. LOL. Wouldn’t it be a Hoot to beat the radio industry by having a hit song in a hit movie that they HAD to play. LOL. Yes, I know, I may be dreaming but It’s an enjoyable harmless dream so leave me to my mind wanderings. LOL.

  100. hicksaholic Says:

Taylor looked fabulous the other night. He stands out in a crowd. I swear he was prettier than Carrie. Have you ever noticed Taylor glows? I don’t know if it’s the combo of that incredible complexion and the gray hair or just his charisma but to me he glows. Others do not glow like Taylor does.

  101. Well he has a new PR person and I like whoever it was who suggested he buy purple in bulk. He was blessed with good genes, and has stepped up to the plate to make the most of it. The other Idol winners and contestents, miss the fashion or charisma mark. But then again he was known for charisma on AI. Passion and personality play a part in charisma.

  102. BTW, The idea of one big fansite makes me giggle. I did read the Idol boards one time. I think it was near the end of AI 5 or shortly after he won. I’ve never been there since. Back then I wanted to read that day what others thought about Tay. Fans were discussing his body parts in a humorous manner. While I didn’t know what the Boogie board was even 2 yrs ago, I stumbled on some blog and read comments that said some fans had found their best friends thru their Taylor kinship. I was perfectly content to avoid the fan thing, formed my own opinions, and googled him now and then. I didn’t see the vids of his tour and hadn’t a clue about the filming of Whomp At The Warfield, but did see the beach pics with Cl. I didn’t know in 2007 that towards the end of his summer tour he did not do as well selling out venues. Somehow, I sorta knew that GC’s wasn’t Taylor. Got a new puter, thank god in early 2007 and watched his rehearsal from AOL. Later I watched first best of the Boogie, and thought Boogie was some person of importance, as in a revierer or critic. I only got involved online, when Tay’s fame and news was dying out and his Grease role was announced. Take my next comment at face value. I read the open blogs for about a month or so. I belive it was then that I read about peeps being life long best friends. I read some posts by a few women, that so turned me off, due to their hate and pettiness towards people I had no clue about, that I delared Hicks fans insane. Guess my point is while those few are now gone from his online fanbase, those who still comment could seem OTT, obsessive, creepy, offensive or wacky to new peeps. And some do seem to be old mother hens, biddies, busy bodies, out of touch and creepy. Those left could do best by him, by keeping a low profile and just commenting back and forth with each other. Somehow Snow made some very strong points.

  103. hicksaholic Says:

Passion and personality ARE a big part of charisma, rosie. I guess that’s why Carrie leaves me cold. She may be wonderful with an engaging personality on a one to one basis but not in public appearances. I guess the reverse could be true of Taylor too. Remember on AI how different Paula and others said Taylor acted on stage versus off stage.

  104. casualfan Says:

I agree hicksaholic. Taylor was so sweet and approachable when I spoke with him and many report the same thing. That is why I have a hard time buying into the “Taylor was rude to me” reports. We all know by now that he’s easily distracted at times and most likely taken the wrong way. I’m sure that he has his snarky side, which we all do but dissing fans I can’t see.

Carrie I think is improving on her stage presence. I was no fan of hers before I saw her live at the Idol Gives Back, but now I’m becoming a fan. I loved her song at the AI finale and can see her doing country rock easily. She’s a beautiful lady with great legs and great style. Her voice is phenomenal. I can see why Simon said that she was the most successful Idol to date.

But the Charisma and Charm award definitely goes to Taylor Hicks. 😉

I’m with your Rosie. T has been in dire need of a good PR team that knows how to market him. He’s fresh off the Grease musical so hopefully they will continue to seize the moment to spin whatever they need to spin in keeping his name out there. I appreciate the fact that Rob Shuter is communicating with T’s fans, but I hope it doesn’t come back to bite him on the a$$.

  106. Fairhope Says:

Sorry. Hate to spoil the charisma and charm of Taylor. But the two times I came face to face with him it was not the Taylor I saw on stage. Sorry girls but he does have another side! Maybe y’all met him in a professional setting where he was hawking his cd’s or doing a meet and greet. I didn’t. I saw him when he was not working and it snapped me out of my delusion!!!

  107. casualfan Says:

FH-I’m referring to a professional setting. I think he’s mindful-most of the time-on his treatment of the fans.

  108. FH he is a shy person and I’m sure Taylor also has to guard himself to have some private moments. Any person, Celeb or not , is just not capable of being gracious 24/7. I’m sure he feels overwhelmed at times with constant attention and that could certainly make anyone grouchy or distant. Thank goodness I don’t have to worry about being nice all the time in public. LOL. I enjoy a good snarky remark to sales people not doing their job or others that piss me off…… LOL.

  109. What delusion. I love pissy Tay. 🙂

  110. I shy away from places like facebook. Two of my kids got me involed in having an account. then a few who knew me thru the kids contacted me, but I respnded to them via email. There is no way I’d have my pic on twitter or facebook and post my comings and goings. It creeps me out when I read my daughter discussing her life with her facebook buds and they theirs. I like my privacy.

  111. Fair, I remember that time you were pissed over Grease being cancelled in NY. I think reporters thought Taylor was going to be wooing and be all animated when they spoke with him on the phone. Grease has helped him with his confidence doing interviews. I took note when Paula and Randy mentioned Tay was different off stage. I think when he was a little kid, he got a kick out of performing for his family and he liked the feedback. I believe him when he says he loves to entertain people. I think he gets a high from being on stage. He was smiling all over himself after he sang many of his songs on AI. I only talked to him once, that 12 inch time, and was struck by how soft spoken he was. But he seems to be a big cut up with his friends, something I have a hard time believing about Lee.

  115. I come and read the comments here occasionally, and think, in the moment, that I have something I really want to add to the conversation. And then, I just come up blank. Nothing to say . . .

I still find it endlessly fascinating to think back to the “old days” and remember all the gazillions of words that I posted on the internet about Taylor Hicks. And even more fascinating still, that I cannot, for the life of me, think of a damn thing to say about him.

It kind of makes me sad in a weird way. I know, that I definitely stepped WAY back from my former obsession level after the Grease decision was made, but still it feels so strange to have moved on so completely. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how obsessed I became with him in the first place, and maybe that’s why I still lurk. To find a justification for my former behavior.

I hope that he gets more recognition for his musical ability in the future, and I wish that he could have a hit single and killer CD sales and all that. But I think I care more about that stuff to make me feel better about going crazy over him, than because I care about him.

Just some random thoughts rolling through my head.

  116. Fairhope Says:

Okay I’m gonna get this off my chest too. What the hell was his date wearing the other night? She looked like a five dollar hooker! You don’t wear black hose in May for starters! Gold sequined dress with gold and black stripper shoes. She needs to use the same stylist Taylor does.

  117. Fairhope Says:

And where is this TMZ video that the BB is referring to?

  118. Soulaz, I get what your saying. I’m obsessed because his smile and joy on the night he won, worked some kind of voodo on me. I felt compelled to check out his every TV appearance and search for news and photos of him on the net. It wasn’t do to me thinking he was gorgeous back then, because I just thought he was cute then. It wasn’t do to my thinking he was the best singer ever, cause I never thought that. He just seemed likable and worthy of me adopting him. I wish the best for him, because over all I think he deserves success and fame, more than most. It is also fun to keep up with the changes in him. The people I don’t get are not the ones who were once so into him and dropped out. I don’t get the serial obsessed fans of male contestents. They say so and so is the nicest guy ever and so talented and the judges picked on him. A yr. or two down the road they say the same about another contestent. They follow and obsess about multi male idols. I guess being exposed and watching them grow on the show has a little to do with it. Yet other somewhat obsessed fans discovered Tay, post Idol. I never was a fan of anyone before Hicks , so he was and is a one time obsession.

  119. casualfan Says:

Nice to see you posting soulaz.

FH-ROFLMAO! You are a riot! Here in LA they wear bootie shorts with those ugly Ugg or Hug boots.

  120. FH, I happened to be watching the begining of TMZ, while other fans were watching the TV Guide pre show on the red carpet. There most likely no vid out there. Harvey and the gang showed Lee with the spit and kept saying he chocked the night before on his 3 songs. Harvey said Lee had a case of nerves. Someone said nerves cause saliva to dry up. So they said Lee deliberately tried to sabotage himself from winning AI. They showed a dictionary and read the definition of sabotage. They said Lee didn’t want to win. Then they said something to the effect winning wasn’t good for TH. They showed Taylor behind the driver seat of a black car, smiling and talking to the camera guys. Looked like he showed them his keys or something. They said they found Taylor parking cars, being the valet at the finale. It was obvious, they tricked Taylor, but he must have known what was coming since he tweeted BOA_TMZ. It was amusing but I was glad the SP was pre occupied trying to spot him on the Red Carpet It was way much worse for Lee as they kept showing the string of Spittle and I had to not look as it was making me nauseous.

  121. I thought she looked fine for an LA red carpet thing. Maybe the black stocking rule doesn’t hold in tinseltown. Guess we have come full circle with the hookers. One with short blonde hair and no stockings or shoes, to one with long blonde hair, black stockings and mega shoes. JK everyone!!

    Did he make good tips?

  123. Thanks CF . . . looking back at my post, I realize I sure as hell used a lot of words to say that I didn’t have anything to say. Verbose much?

And no offense Rosie, but you shouldn’t put down people who find different contestants to be invested in each year. They don’t all necessarily lose interest in their “former obsessions,” sometimes they just add a new person to the list of artists they love. Isn’t that kind of the point of watching American Idol in the first place? I’ve watched every year, and always hope that there will be someone on the show that I can really get excited about. It doesn’t always happen for me . . . as a matter of fact, Taylor was my first.

I really, really enjoyed Adam Lambert last year and bought his CD and will see go to a concert if one comes to my neck of the woods. And I am really looking forward to seeing what becomes of Casey James in the future, as I really enjoyed the hell out of him this year.

I guess you could say that I am one of those who tend to “drop” their Idol and pick up a new one. But seriously, Taylor and Adam and Casey have nothing to do with each other. Out of 9 seasons of AI, I found three contestants that I really, really like. And if Adam and Casey don’t make music that really excites me in the future, I will move on from them, just like I have from Taylor.

Am I a bad fan? Maybe so . . . but I think it’s their job to keep me interested. If they are doing what they love and I love it, I’ll stick to them like glue. If not, more power to them . . . they’ll probably find someone to replace me. I’m not necessary in any fandom.

  124. I thought Miss Hunt looked great. I loved her outfit.

  125. Great to see you soulaz. I was planning to disappear again when I saw your comments. I agree that I’d like to see Taylor do well for my own selfish reasons- to justify why I’ve been a fan. Vindication, I guess.

Can’t be too eloquent. Had yet another goodbye dinner tonight before we move to Canada. One too many margaritas. But I had to say ‘hey’ to you, soulaz. You made the online experience more fun back in the day. Hate to inject a bit of sadness but I visited Karens grave a couple of weeks ago and said a prayer for all of us.

Have y’all ever thought what a great screenplay Taylor’s fanbase’s story would make? Set against a drop of Taylor’s AI victory and after career as the common thread and them revealing stories of individual fans and their connection to each other, their families and Taylor.
FH, I’m with you on Taylor’s date’s outfit. The dress was ok but I didn’t think anybody wore pantyhose anymore, certainly not black ones. And the shoes, I hope she doesn’t wear anything that high often or she’s in for a lifetime of podiatrist’s visits pretty soon. Oh well…. her clothes, her choice. It was good to see him with a date, something different.
I love it when some of the old crowd visits. Thanks for posting, soulaz.

A good suspense thriller would be more like it hicksaholic.

Here in LA anything is up for grabs in the fashion world. Celebs and regular peeps walk around in anything to get attention. I often see women in booty shorts with Ugg boots in the dead heat of summer, running around in stilettos doing everyday chores and lots of bling. There’s even bling water bottles with crystals on the bottles that one can buy for about 60.00.

The lady with Taylor looks petite so she most likely had to wear high heels because he’s tall. I didn’t see her shoes and I couldn’t tell you what she wore or even what T was wearing. Didn’t pay attention to any of that. But she is very attractive and they did look nice together.

    WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD!

  128. PurpleButterflies Says:

And no offense Rosie, but you shouldn’t put down people who find different contestants to be invested in each year. They don’t all necessarily lose interest in their “former obsessions,” sometimes they just add a new person to the list of artists they love.
    ——–
I agree. I never understood why some people think you have to be loyal to one artist, or the other one, why they only like who Taylor recommends. My mother forced my sisters and me to appreciate music whether we wanted to or not. The tv was off and the radio or stereo was on. And we were dragged to all the Broadway plays, being made to wear our Sunday best. And you really haven’t lived until you’re a kid who has to sit through operas all in Italian. lol I didn’t appreciate it then, but found myself doing the same things when I had kids. I love music and my kids love music. It’s really okay to love lots of different artists.

  129. PurpleButterflies Says:

I never was a fan of anyone before Hicks , so he was and is a one time obsession.
    ———
Do you not care for music? Did you listen to the radio a lot as a kid? Did you go to concerts? Did your kids take music lessons? Just curious if music was a big part of your life, or you just didn’t care for it.

  130. PurpleButterflies Says:

Here’s one for ya. Try being a kid and having this blasting on the stereo for hours on end every Sunday.

  131. Fairhope Says:

Hicks: Maybe because we’re from the south and you know how we are about our “rules” of fashion. No white shoes after labor day. No linen until after Easter unless it is Mardi Gras day and you are on the court. And thank goodness we don’t have to wear hosiery anymore in the summer. That was torture!

  132. Fairhope Says:

I couldn’t finish my comment the old fart came in the room! Here he comes again. Shit!!

  133. I love all kinds of music, many, many different artists and buy their product but there is a difference between that and actively taking the time to follow and support them. Don’t think I would have the time to do that for each one.

  134. casualfan Says:

I remember my music obsession…Donny Osmond. “Puppy Love” was the first record I ever owned and thought I had found heaven. Of course I was around 7 or 8 at time.

I agree. I never understood why some people think you have to be loyal to one artist, or the other one, why they only like who Taylor recommends.
    ===============================================
That’s because the obsession is with Taylor himself and it really has nothing to do with his music.

  137. hicksaholic Says:

I know the feeling too well FH!

  138. casualfan Says:

I’m from the south too FH so I hear what you are saying. But I’ve learned that here in LA the only tradition seems to be not having a tradition. White shoes are in 24/7, 12 mos out of the year here. LOL-What are pantyhose? Haven’t seen those things in years!

  139. PurpleButterflies Says:

I remember my music obsession…Donny Osmond. “Puppy Love” was the first record I ever owned and thought I had found heaven. Of course I was around 7 or 8 at time.
    ——-
Six years old-Bobby Sherman was my heaven. Every night I would kiss the poster and tell him I loved him. I was the youngest of all girls, and they would get the Tiger Beat magazines. Remember those? They would let me have the Bobby Sherman pictures. I still remember flinging my Bobby Sherman lunch box across the room when my mother broke the dreaded news to me that he was going to get married. The lunch box knocked over the knick knack and I ran for my life. LOL

  140. casualfan Says:

LOL! Tiger Beat was my bible! Shawn Cassidy, Donny Osmond and Tony DeFranco (remember him?) graced my walls from posters in TB. I remember Bobby Sherman too but all was overshadowed in my eyes with the Osmond Brothers. I also had a maddening crush on Jay Osmond. Couldn’t get enough of those boys…I tell ya.

I’ve always considered this a great love song.

  144. My first musical crush was at age 6….the handsome young man from Memphis Tenn. graced the Ed Sullivan Show stage and I was hooked. Still hooked today….I love music of all kinds and voices in all ranges but few of the singers themselves hook me .but when they do I’m usually in forever..there is a lot to be said for chrisma. Elvis had it in spades and IMO so does Taylor Hicks.

  145. Purple, my fan comment was about being an obsessive fan. But thanks for attempting to give me a music education.

  146. Good to see you too, Caryl. We definitely had some good old times, and Karen was a large part of them. I was so genuinely sad and shocked when she passed away. It’s memories like those I have of her, that keep me lurking around the corners of this fandom. And maybe in those memories we have that “justification” that we seek.

We never had, nor will we ever have a personal relationship with Taylor Hicks. But some of us did develop personal relationships and lasting friendships with those who shared that crazy ride we were on. Whether I ever buy another CD or go to another concert, I will always be grateful to Taylor for that.

Oh, and for the record, back in my Tiger Beat days, I was a Jackson Five girl.

  147. PurpleButterflies Says:

LOL! Tiger Beat was my bible!
    ———–
First all the kids read it from cover to cover to see what everyone’s favorite color was. LOL Then you ripped it to shreds to get out the pictures to plaster on the walls.
    ———
    Tony DeFranco (remember him?)
    ———
Oh my goodness, what fun this is reminiscing! I have to come here more often. Tony DeFranco-Heartbeat, it’s a love beat, and a love beat is a good vibration…….Listen to my heart pound, listen to my love sound. LOL
    ———–
I also had a maddening crush on Jay Osmond.
    ———-
My sister Carol was nuts for Davey Jones and David Cassidy.

    They were sacred.

  149. casualfan Says:

I wasn’t allowed to listen to the Jacksons. Wasn’t introduced to soul music till my teens.

    ——–
My oldest sister was nuts for the Beatles and Elvis. We lived across the street from a small airport and every time someone came to the city for a concert they would fly into our airport. When they had no parking on the street signs you knew someone good was going to come up the street, either a president, or a legend of some kind who needed a police escort. Well one time Elvis came into the airport and up the street. My oldest sister threw herself into the street screaming and crying “Elvis take me with you, I want to marry you.” She stopped traffic, cop cars and everything. He rolled down the window and there he was in all his glory. Everyone who lined up the street to watch his car gasped. He waved and said “Hi, how ya doin” Then my mother dragged my sister out of the street kicking and screaming, but it made for a lasting memory. LOL

  152. casualfan Says:

My mom got on the set of King Creole when they were filming in New Orleans waaaay back. My mom took a pic of Elvis and my oldest sister (who was 3 or 4 then) under his raincoat and him holding an umbrella. My mom was always star hunting and very good at it.

  153. PurpleButterflies Says:

casualfan, I’m watching the Bobby Sherman video you posted. I had good taste at six years old. LOL He was adorable. And speaking of Davy Jones, this is the song my mother used to sing to me when I was little.

  154. casualfan Says:

LOVE that vid! Davy is so sexy. That other guy next to him is a cutie too.

  155. Fairhope Says:

I was slow to learn to read when I was in 2nd grade. My mother bought me Tiger Beat so I could read about Donny Osmond. THAT is how I learned to read! Even though he was about 5 years older than me…I was in love!!!! My first concert was an Osmond concert.

  156. Fairhope Says:

I’m looking down on the old fart now. He’s in the driveway. I am safe!!!

  157. My regret is not attending an Elvis concert when I had the chance. Even when he was bloated, fat and drugged up at 40 and 41, he still had that voice. Tay reminds me of him but Elvis had a better range. Taylor would have been more of a hit in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s.

  158. PurpleButterflies Says:

My first concert was an Osmond concert.
    ————-
What was everyone else’s firsst concert? My first concert, without parents being there, was seeing the Bay City Rollers. I think I was like eleven. I would never drop an 11yo off at a concert today. My first pop concert was somewhere outdoors, when my mother took us to see Dino, Desi & Billy. But I only have a split second flash memory of that, as I was under the age of 5.

  159. casualfan Says:

PBF-My first concert was Prince “Purple Rain” in NO I think in 87. What a night. The Super Dome has purple haze all over it, black lace and roses on the stage. It seriously kicked!

    I remember the BCR….S A T U R D A Y TONIGHT!

  160. PurpleButterflies Says:

PBF-My first concert was Prince “Purple Rain” in NO I think in 87.
    ———-
Lucky you! I never saw Prince. I have seen Chicago, Pat Benetar, Foreigner, Styx, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, ACDC, Queen, Journey, Ozzy, a lot of the 50’s singers (they were before my time but they did retro shows in the 80’s), Moody Blues, America, Rod Stewart, and more but I can’t think of the rest at the moment. I wish I was old enough to see Jim Morrison and The Doors. I really loved Jim Morrison when I was a teenager, but he was gone by then. But my all time favorite when I was a teenager was Pat Benetar.

  161. PurpleButterflies Says:

I know I’m gonna live to regret this, what the hay, as long as we’re reminiscing. If you make the video screen big, and stop it at 1:36, that is me on my ex husband’s shoulders. I was just a teenager and we weren’t married yet. HBO had filmed this.

  162. My first concert was Aerosmith back in 1975. Also playing that day were Foghat, Kansas and Jeff Beck. It was a festival type thing. Damn, that was 35 years ago. How the hell did I get so old?

That’s so cool about the Pat Benatar concert, PB . . . you’re like, kind of, sort of, just the teeniest bit famous. You’ve been on TV! 😀

  163. suze4158 Says:

Enjoyed reading the memories and comments of folks I haven’t seen in a long while. If this embeds, here is a memory of mine, where I fell in love. (1977 performance of New York State of Mind, Billy Joel)
If not, here is a huge gobbledy gooky code.

  164. suze4158 Says:

Correction, 1978 on above video. It is worth all 8 minutes.

Since ya’ll are tripping on memory lane, …my end all performer of all time is Billy Joel…especially the young version. Seeing him live at the Roxy Theater in Memphis back in ’78 solidified my love for live music forever. He ran down the half-empty aisles (post Piano Man, pre-Stranger) sang, danced, flipped backwards off the piano, made fun of Barry Manilow, and played the hell out of the piano. I was in love and remain so until this day.
I felt something similar with our man Taylor. His abandonment in performance reminded me of early Billy Joel, and I loved it. His talent is no where near Billy’s, but his stage heart is similar. Whatever becomes of Taylor, and I wish him the best, I will always be thankful for the fun and thrills from AI5 and his great touring performances.

    God bless.

  165. My first conceert was The DAve Clark Five..followed the next day by Gerry & the Pacemakers,,,I saw the Beatles 3 times and then in 1975 the Holy Grail of concerts for me ..ELVIS PRESLEY @ the Niagara Falls convention Center..he had slimmed down and was fabulous. The only way to get tickets was by mail order and Canada had a mail stike at the time…My hubby drove me to Buffalo from Toronto to mail the letter for the tickets and a few weeks later I had in my hot little hand!!!!!

  166. PurpleButterflies Says:

I looked like a dork. LOL I forgot to add Aerosmith, Boston, and Air Supply to the list. I would have loved to have seen the Billy Joel and Led Zeppelin in concert.

  168. hicksaholic Says:

God, Anne, you saw a lot of the greats! I regret not seeing Elvis and Michael Jackson. Two unbelievable talents. My first concert was the Animals. I was 11 or 12 I guess. My favorites were the Beatles though and I love Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy Joe Kramer, Herman’s Hermits, Jackson Five…. Great music back then. I guess that’s why I enjoy Taylor so much. He tries to bring back a little of the old time soul music.
I used to love to come home from school and watch Shindig. Remember that?
I saw The Carpenters, Fifth Dimension, and Chicago at Auburn. Dioone Warwick put on an incredible show the year before I got there.
Billy Joel is supposedly a great performer. I bet in his early hungrier years he was something to behold.
I loved Tiger Beat too but somehow I missed Tony DeFranco.
Want to play TV? I remember Dr Kildare was my favorite and I shut my eyes til I could get out of the den if Ben Casey was on.
I love Jerry Butler and would have loved to see him live.

  169. casualfan Says:

My first TV crush was Will on “Lost in Space”. I had it real bad for that kid.

  170. Freckles Says:

My first concert without parents was Boyz II Men in ’93. I was 13 and hit puberty at that concert. Then my first concert with friends was 1997, Marilyn Manson. OMG!! BEST CONCERT EVER! Hands down. No one puts on a show like that anymore…

  171. Freckles Says:

My first movie crush was Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing. Yes, I was very young. Like 8, but I was in love ❤ In my early teens, I had a thing for Michael Jackson (before the charges). Still love his music. Other than that, I was and am still an Elvis freak.

Right now, I'm slightly obsessed with Gerard Butler. He's not hot in a traditional sense, but he's got that something that makes me almost break out into a sweat when I watch him onscreen. Maybe it's the accent… But the movie 300…I could eat dinner on those abs. LOL

  172. Freckles Says:

OH and the hottest man alive (aside from Taylor, OF COURSE!) is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. His cheesy kid movies are hard to watch, but in photos…YUM!

  173. Freckles Says:

  174. Freckles Says:

    scratch that, sorry…

  175. My first concert with out parents was Ike and Tina Turner. I saw Elvis too on his final visit to Dayton, Ohio.

I had two big boxes of Tiger Beat when I got married in 1976 and I threw them away!!!!! I was one who never defaced them by pulling out the poster. LOL. I wonder how much they would be worth today if I had kept them.

  183. casualfan Says:

A few peeps talked about Elvis. I was too young or not born yet during the Elvis era. I didn’t know anything about him till the last part of his life but wasn’t allowed to listen to his music. Even as I grew older, I didn’t care for him and still don’t. I appreciate and respect his contributions to the music culture, but he’s never been my cup of tea.

Now that is just sacrilegious. I have a couple saved. I even have some Bobby Sherman posters and full page pics saved from the TB magazines. And although I was too young to see Elvis, I enjoyed his music because my oldest sister did, and I made a scrapbook when he died that I still have.

A long long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile.

  200. The day the music died

  201. Fairhope Says:

Oh snap! Y’all go over to the BB under “News” and then “Taylor on AI” and look at the you-tube vid of him taking pictures with fans. Now that IS a true pissy Taylor. That’s the Taylor I was talking about earlier. Oh shit, the faces he was making!!!

    More reminiscing about 70’s music:
Billy Don’t Be A Hero upset you.
Singing Knock Three Times into a hairbrush in front of the mirror.
Seasons In The Sun made you sad.
Your sisters told you that your marriage won’t be real unless you dance to Time In A Bottle. LOL

  206. casualfan Says:

In most fan pics of T that I see he clinches his back teeth. In the AI finale pics, he wasn’t clinching his teeth. He was relaxed.

LOL PBF! I LOVED “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” and “Seasons in the Sun”. Remember this one?

  207. casualfan Says:

  208. FH, I checked it out. He looks as though he is wanted somewhere else. At least he did pose for the pics. Maybe his date was waiting for him or some press peep. I thought he looked handsome and he admitted to us outside of Grease that he goes into the big smile for pics.

  209. taylorfan06 Says:

I agree with you on that one rosie. he’s forever under the microscope. every step of the way.

  219. PurpleButterflies Says:

Oh my goodness, no one ever remembers that song but me and my cousin Maryann! lol When we were little, we would walk up and down the street and sing that song over and over. We thought we were going to be in a band and that was “our” song. LOL

  220. PurpleButterflies Says:

casualfan, I didn’t copy what you said but my last comment was directed to your “Playground In My Mind” video. Wow, I haven’t heard that song in years.

  221. Freckles Says:

I finally saw the pics of Taylor’s date. Very pretty girl. Very bad choice of outfit. But he always did like the stripper types…JUST KIDDING! 😉

  222. OT Judging from the latest magazine cover of Adam, I think he’d like to have a sex change and be a woman. I don’t think he will as that would get him on the talk circuits but kill his music career with the women.

  223. taylorfan06 Says:

rosie – you may be over thinking just a bit. in the meantime, enjoy this:

  224. taylorfan06 Says:

how about a double dose? this should be a single!

  225. Not over thinking at all in fact not thinking much about Adam. It was just a thought that popped into my head. Now I’m being punished by seeing him above. lol

  226. Freckles Says:

Way too many vids lately. jmho

  227. casualfan Says:

LOL Freckles….we’ve had our fun. Now we may crash IAG’s blog.

Adam is having fun, doing his own thing just as T did doing his Grease thing. Adam is selling his concerts well and from what I hear…putting on excellent shows!

Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson got together last week at Daughtry’s concert in Nashville. From what I hear-that show seriously kicked a$$! I gain more respect for Daughtry every day and look forward to seeing him live. Kelly is my favorite winning Idol and DAMN! THAT GIRL CAN SING!

  228. taylorfan06 Says:

Freckles, I love the videos here, for the nostalgia or to tie in with the topic at hand. I, like Taylor, think it’s “all about the music”, and not just Taylor’s music. I like sharing with others and have liked many that others have added as well. Like sands in the hourglass, so is the soundtrack of our lives. LOL

How about some 80’s, ladies? Quite the double entendre (on many levels here), i.e., Taylor’s career, the fandom, and the videos (had to add that)

  229. I, for one, wouldn’t mind if Grey covered x,y and z, by posting recent pics of Taylor. Someone posted they may have seen a photo of him on an east coast beach. I wouldn’t mind comparing 2007 and 2010 beach pics.

  230. casualfan Says:

    I wouldn’t mind comparing 2007 and 2010 beach pics.
    ==============================================
I’m sure there are tons of places to do that Rosie. Doesn’t the GF blog or the BB enjoy doing that?

  231. Actually and totally NO CF, I don’t believe I have ever seen a beach comparison pic at either of those places.
    Check your facts.

  232. taylorfan06 Says:

I was in the mood for a Taylor video today. And what a video! This song is so amazing and I love seeing Taylor doing what he does so well. It really brings back such wonderful memories since the first time I saw him in May, 2007.

It’s hard to believe he wrote this right out of high school. I loved this song since he was on AI, and love it just as much today. The 2:45 mark really puts a smile on my face when Taylor just gets “in the zone.” That goes double for the parting shot at the end. And I’ve always been a sucker for the sax. That solo just slays me!!! Watch and enjoy.

  233. taylorfan06 Says:

ok, so I need two videos. this performance and song are just killer!
    please indulge me freckles.

  234. taylorfan06 Says:

I just love that little girl yelling out in the beginning and and Taylor stopping to respond. Priceless!

  235. taylorfan06 Says:

I think I know what he would have said. Any guesses?
That “voice” is one of the main reasons I stick around.
The timbre and the strength of how it fills the room makes me awestruck. The looks don’t hurt either…

  236. Fairhope Says:

Okay. Just now able to see how y’all responded to my comments on the video. If y’all can’t see how uncomfortable and pissed he is then you all have on rose colored glasses! It appears to me he keeps looking off at someone to come get him out of the situation. HE LOOKS PISSED!

  237. Somehow is really something. Looking pissed is sexy on him.

  238. Fairhope Says:

You’re right looking pissed is a good look for him…

  239. casualfan Says:

If y’all can’t see how uncomfortable and pissed he is then you all have on rose colored glasses!
    ============================================
    Ya think?

  240. casualfan Says:

I don’t go to the BB so I have not a clue which video you are referring to.

  241. taylorfan06 Says:

I would never want to be famous and in the spotlight. You always have to be “on” and that’s fun, or me. I do like to “keep it real” and I know that many would see me living up to the perception of how a star should “act” in public. That’s a lot of pressure. I’ve seen other celebrities looking uncomfortable and like they’d rather be somewhere else when they’d been at various events. The whole “fish bowl” mentality has to get to them.

The video I think you’re referring to FH is quite short and was most likely taken at a point where T was mostly done with the red carpet thing and ready to get inside, or was maybe summoned to get to some other area. Who really knows how long he was doing the schmoozing when the video was rolling. I saw him as doing his best to keep the fans happy, but it has to wear after awhile. I mean he was doing that thing for 2 years with the Grease run night after night after night.

As the song goes, “won’t you cut me some slack.” “Gave you all my love, but nothing was enough for you.” “How you say goodbye so easily…” “Heaven Knows I tried” There are so many relatable lines in this song that apply to this aspect of celebrity.

Another T video for a nice Wednesday w/ many great pictures.

  242. taylorfan06 Says:

    Correction(s): (damn happy hour)

I would never want to be famous and in the spotlight. You always have to be “on” and that’s NOT fun, or me…

many would see me NOT living up to the perception of how a star should “act” in public….

  243. casualfan Says:

    Dear Grey,

Hopefully you will be posting a new blog soon. My computer is really slowing down because of all the vids being posted. It was fun but now becoming somewhat mundane. Please think of a new subject for us to enjoy soon. 😉

    Much Respect,
    CF

  244. taylorfan06 Says:

  245. I got the impression from the video that someone may have be on his right side and could have been distracting him and not in a good way. There could have been something going on that made Taylor uncomfortable. Maybe some heckling or some remarks being made a little too loud….we have no idea..so why not cut him some slack. And I would rather have the rose coloured glasses on than blinders ..thank you very much!!! What can I say I’m a glass if half full kind of personality!!

  246. taylorfan06 Says:

Here’s the Knack performing at Epcot in 2002. Great song (no studio version available on youtube) Check out their 1980 lp, “…but the little girls understand.” They were really a great band. They should have been much bigger after their first release. Sound familiar?…

  247. taylorfan06 Says:

And this one was from their 3rd release, “Round Trip”, from 1981. I still have the vinyl. I think it was really their best album. ***** (5 star)

  248. taylorfan06 Says:

This brings me back to the Summer of ’79. What a flashback. I still miss vinyl.

  249. casualfan Says:

And I would rather have the rose coloured glasses on than blinders ..thank you very much!!! What can I say I’m a glass if half full kind of personality!!
    ============================================
    Blinders on to what exactly?

  250. taylorfan06 Says:

My take is not knowing the real “truth” of the situation, which could only bring speculation, innuendo, rumors, gossip, back stabbing, misinformation, ignorance, negativity, which then leads to so called “fact.”

..but i could be wrong…. LOL

  251. If y’all can’t see how uncomfortable and pissed he is then you all have on rose colored glasses!
    ————————————————————————————-

Blinders on to the fact that maybe, just maybe, the look was more of concern than being pissed off….blinders like rose coloured glasses cause people to see things only one way..negatively… similar to the only positive view others see through rose coloured glasses…not saying one is better or worse than the other…just saying I am in the rose coloured glasses camp and that’s the way I like it.

  252. casualfan Says:

Having “blinders” on or “rose colored glasses” means a person sees things one way and not able to be objective. If you want to live your life with rose coloured glasses on, that is your decision to make, but I for one like to see the reality of things….even if they aren’t pleasant at times.

On another note….Taylor reported that he sold 100 thousand units of “The Distance”. That is an excellent figure for an independent artist with their own label and almost non-existent airplay and PR. If and when he does release another CD, he may want to go back on a Broadway show to promote his music…whatever it takes right?

  253. Snowstorm Says:

Taylor should never go on another Broadway show and he should not be content to be a second rate artist.

I think Taylor has given up on music and really wants to be an actor.

  254. Freckles Says:

FH~ what video? I can’t find it on there, and I registered just to see it. LOL!

  255. casualfan Says:

Freckles, perhaps you can go to youtube and search for Pissy Tay. 😉

  256. Freckles Says:

LOL! I wish it were that easy.

  257. I may have rose colored glasses too. I didn’t really see anything. He seemed to be trying really hard to get to everyone and make sure they got a picture. This was the concert where he took extra time with a couple of people in wheelchairs. Don’t think we were seeing pissy Tay. If any thing maybe Tired Tay. LOL.

  258. Freckles Says:

    Dee, what video?

  259. The vid is on the news thread under Taylor on AI. It is towards the end of the thread and is labeled Tay signing autographs and is about 34 seconds. This is no big deal people. FH just wanted to pointed out that she had met Tay when he was pissy and gave an example. No one knows what was going on in relation to the video. Hopefully no one thinks Taylor goes around smiling all day long or has never turned down someone for a pic or autograph. If he is in a hurry, he may looked pissed or preoccupied. Maybe there was at first just 1 or 2 peeps and then others started coming over, and he didn’t have time. On another subject, if I were his PR person, I’d would have told him to give out a short tweet or two by now. Just anything, such as vacay rocks, or still sleeping. He picked up new followers last week and non fans were discussing his handsomeness on MJ’s, so perhaps tweets would do the trick.

  260. datilpepper Says:

Beeg thread!!! Some nice vids! TY! Oh, and everyone has days when they’re pissed…even public figures…Geez Louise, give the man a break. He hasn’t punched anybody yet, like Russell Crowe, LOL!

  261. casualfan Says:

if I were his PR person, I’d would have told him to give out a short tweet or two by now.
    ===========================================
Why should they do that Rosie? Celebrities have gotten along fine without Twitter before. Sometimes I think all this networking does more harm than good. Now celebs-Taylor included, is expected to tweet something and it doesn’t matter if the man is trying to rest or not. Just more stalking tools for an already out of control society that is hell bent on finding out what makes people tick.

Sounds more like selfishness on the fans part because he should be left alone. When he’s ready to communicate, he will do it.

  262. taylorfan06 Says:

Is communication a lost art? We hear what we hear, we see what we see…
There is your philosophy lesson for the day.

A little something for some levity here from a very young Pete Townsend.
Great song from his 1982 “All The Best Cowboys Have Chines Eyes” cd.
    Watch. And enjoy…

  263. CF…I don’t equate reality with negativity or positive attuitude..reality is just that… reality.u regarding the tweeting th..can be good ..can be bad…sometimes it just matters how we handle it.

I agree 100% with you regarding the tweets if he or anyone else is haveing down time….let them be. I remember being called from work whem I was on holidays and it got to the point I wouldn’t tell anyone where I was going, so if they really needed me they were S.O.L. Sometimes we can make ourselves too available.

  265. Sprry about that I had to repost…I have one of those jumpy cursors and posted before checking.

  266. casualfan Says:

Sometimes we can make ourselves too available.
    ==============================================
    Amen to that!

  267. Fairhope Says:

Freckles…I hope you can find and watch the vid to prove that I am not making shit up. He’s PISSED! He was out amongst his fans. He shoulda looked happy and not “bothered”. It’s not like they were interrupting his dinner!!!!

  268. casualfan Says:

Maybe he spotted one of the loons he has a restraining order out on. That would make for a pissy Taylor indeed!

  269. Snowstorm Says:

Fairhope, Taylor has never liked signing autographs and he does not like fan interaction, unless you pay him for a M&G, then he’s very gracious. People took notice of this behavior on the Idol’s tour. Many people said he was standoffish, reserved and distant. He said in an interview once he didn’t understand why people want someone’s autograph. That’s just the way he is. Maybe he just doesn’t like strangers pulling at him and wanting a piece of him. Can’t say I blame him either.

Why do you feel you are entitled to something more? If you go to one of his shows, you are owed a concert and that’s it.

  270. Snowstorm Says:

In the words of Adam Lambert…

    Entitlement is not sexy.

  271. taylorfan06 Says:

To play devil’s advocate with this whole video thing that just won’t die,
OK, so Taylor was pissed! Is it really that groundbreaking?

OMG, Taylor is the “only” celebrity to ever look pissed with his fans around him. Let’s chain him up!! My reality… much ado about nothing, unnecessary drama.

Beating a dead horse. Enjoy all.

  272. I don’t watch the majority of videos and I wish a new thread was started even if it was just entitled (continued). Maybe Grey ran away with Tay.

  273. taylorfan06 Says:

    Statement 1 –
Fairhope, Taylor has never liked signing autographs and he does not like fan interaction, unless you pay him for a M&G, then he’s very gracious.

    Statement 2 –

People took notice of this behavior on the Idol’s tour.

    _________________________________________________________

    Statement 1 –
And you know this as fact because….

    Statement 2 –
In a court of law, this would be considered hearsay. NOT FACT!

C’mon people, can we just move on! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  274. taylorfan06 Says:

Rosie – there are some great songs/albums that go with these videos.
Give a listen… You make like them. I love them in “my world.”

  275. I think Taylor did have alot of trouble with signings coming off of Idol. He seemed very uncomfortable and shy. He was that way with the press some of the time too. It was like he really did not know how to handle it and he got some bad press. I think he is 100 % better with fans and press now and you rarely hear anything negative. You can see it in his interviews he is so much more comfortable. And time and time again you hear such nice comments from the DJ’s and Interviewers. Taylor has labored hard for fans at all of those autograph signings after the shows. That just doesn’t happen all the time. Most of the musicals I have seen have merchandise for sale in the lobby but no stars signing so it’s a real plus for Taylor to be out there.

  276. casualfan Says:

TF6-Why don’t you give it a rest. You’ve overrun this thread with videos. At first it was fun, but it seems like you are now being a bit vindictive. A few of us have very nicely requested that you stop and yet you keep on going. All these graphics is making it hard to load the thread.

  277. casualfan Says:

Most of the musicals I have seen have merchandise for sale in the lobby but no stars signing so it’s a real plus for Taylor to be out there.
    ============================================
I have to agree with you on this Dee. In many ways, I think Taylor has made himself too accessible to his fans. Now that he seems to be entering another journey in his career, perhaps it would be wise to beef up security and not be so accessible. There should be a time and place for everything and everything in it’s place. If T gets pissy, I don’t blame him. He has a lot of nut jobs wanting a piece of him.

  278. hicksaholic Says:

A little different subject but Taylor volunteered to do a tourism commercial for the Gulf Coast inviting people to come to Alabama’s beached. It’s been put on hold due to the oil spill being right off the coast. I’m glad it’s been delayed. I keep seeing the Mississippi commercial being run back to back while the news is reporting fishing waters are closed and officials are suggesting no one go in the water. Then the Mississippi governor comes on with his wife in the commercial telling everyone the fishing is still great and the beaches are beautiful.
I don’t want to see Taylor doing the same thing for Alabama.
I’m going to the Gulf this weekend- will report back what I see. I went to Dauphin Island yesterday. Lots and lots of prep already done but I doubt anything will be able to keep it out. I just pray that the wildlife can be saved although I know looking at the news sites it’s not possible. If I were a BP official I would be watching my back down here. People are PISSED.

  279. hicksaholic Says:

    sorry beaches

  280. Freckles Says:

    Hicks~No offense taken…

    ==============

As for Pissy Taylor! I think I’m even more in love. HAHAHA!! He’s so sexy when he’s pissed.

  281. casualfan Says:

I read this morning where the oil is now making its way on shore in Mississippi and in the Bama reign. It is really sad seeing the brown pelicans in Louisiana covered in oil and their nesting grounds being destroyed. Those beautiful birds just came off the endangered species list about 6 mos ago and will probably have to be re-listed. It doesn’t make any sense to promote the beaches right now when they are in danger of being closed.

  282. CF- I guess the states want to make all the money they can as long as the beaches are still ok. The way things are going once it reaches them it’s going to be a long time before tourism recovers. It’s hits all aspects of a town, fishing , tour boats, restaurants, hotels, bait shops the list goes on and on…… So sad.

  283. casualfan Says:

Not sure if this link will work, but this image is very disturbing to me. My heart breaks for this bird. Hopefully the photographer who took this pic thought to get this bird somewhere for a bath.

    http://gblsharing.app.aol.com/pop-up/

  284. I can’t stand to look at pictures like those anymore. It’s so unfair- animals are innocent. It’s our fault.

  285. They have a treatment center for all the birds, but they looked so sad. I think the birds understand that the people are trying to help them, as they seem so tame. The whole thing makes me sick and I noticed today that the BP stations I passed were not doing any business.

  286. Freckles, Taylor did look quite handsome on that short vid. I wish he could have a small role in a popular movie so non fans could view his hunkiness. But it has to be the right role. A simple thing like that, could revive his music career. I hope the muses are visiting him in the Bahamas while he sips some umbrella drinks on the beach.

  287. casualfan Says:

wow Rosie-so you have the inside scoop on where the big T is…good for you 😉

I personally hope that BP gets the pants sued off them and they have to file bankruptsy. I also think the top brass of BP should be the ones to gather up all the oil soaked wildlife and scrub them clean. Oil companies need to start taking accountability for their wrongdoing and be made an example out of. But then again….in Louisiana all things political is corrupt, so I won’t hold me breath.

Perhaps T will make some kind of appearance on TV this fall Rosie. Hopefully, he can get his music on a show or something. I remember way back there was a campaign to get his music on TV implemented by his then management team The Firm.

  288. Someone on the BB found a tweet that a photographer who was staying at the Abaco Beach Resort hotel in the Bahamas, met Tay and said he is a nice guy. The place looks nice and there is good snorkeling and fishing.

  289. casualfan Says:

I saw that tweet. The guy said that he met Taylor, didn’t say that T was in the Bahamas. For all we know, he could have met T in an airport on his way to Japan.

  290. casualfan Says:

I guess I stand corrected…haha! Looks like the dude tweeted about some show T did. Glad he’s doing something he enjoys while in a beautiful place. Looking forward to going back to the Bahamas soon myself. Fiji is another place I love to vacation at.
