It’s marketing time!!

Just saw this:

My question to you is: What products should Taylor do a commercial for?

On another note…are you ever just walking around and see someone who reminds you of Taylor? Oh yeah, you’ve been there…we all have. I think we need to have a photo gallery of these Tayclones. Send me all your pictures that you come across in your daily travels. Take this one for instance, that my friend just sent me:

This is a true Tayclone (not the dude on the bicycle)…because in true Taylor fashion style, this Tayclone was spotted wearing black pants and brown shoes!! Kind of this like this:

Please try not to get questioned or arrested by security personnel while obtaining photographs. Thank you very much.

I have a friend that was mistaken for Taylor during Season 5. Another friend had a S5 finale party and made special t-shirts for all in attendance (10). The friend in question had a shirt that read, “No, I’m NOT Taylor Hicks!” He did a lot of traveling then and was constantly hounded at the airport.

  2. casualfan Says:

LOL-TF6. Was he stalked by the SP?

  3. casualfan Says:

LOL! I like the pic of the dude by the car. He even stands like Taylor.

cf – it didn’t get too bad, but he did get plenty of attention and still does. He’s a handsome guy. His wife thinks so too!

I remember friends complaining about that Ford commercial being on all the time. I told them they watch too much tv.

Thanks for the flashback,cf. I loved that commercial. Great vocal and moves from Taylor. I actually have the 1:27 version on my iPod that i downloaded on the BB.

Wow! Now that’s what I call serious dedication! 😉

  8. taylorfan06 Says:

You have NO idea. When I was at the gym over the weekend, I was playing my “Taylor Hicks” file on my iPod – 368 songs. Fanatical or lucky??? Either way, many great songs/performances that keep a smile on my face.

  9. That Gokey commercial was too cute! I could see Tay doing a commercial for harmonicas or guitars or maybe jeans, and show off that cute butt of his. 🙂

  10. Fairhope Says:

OMG! Is that Taylor in the 2nd picture? He looks “special needs”!!

  11. casualfan Says:

I agree Sierra. Danny is cute in that commercial and I also agree in Taylor doing harp commercials. Too bad Hohner doesn’t do them.

  12. taylorfan06 Says:

Here’s an article to share. An interview w/ Simon Climie on Taylor.

Fairhope – you always make me laugh! x-D

Oh what a surprise, Gokey selling goggles, imagine that…. lol

I can’t say I’ve ever noticed anyone resembling Hicks but I can say the black socks with tennis shoes does remind me of my Pop. *giggles*

  14. hicksaholic Says:

    tf06,
    I want your ipod.

  15. taylorfan06 Says:

    yes, i guess i am a “taylorholic”. …it happens.

  16. Snowstorm Says:

Hicks most likely got offers after he won which was FOUR YEARS AGO! Nobody cares about him now! He didn’t do anything with his career except fly an ice cream cone. What are you people smoking??

  17. casualfan Says:

Guess we all are at some degree or we wouldn’t be here. 😉

  25. taylorfan06 Says:

That Sioban SUX! NO MORE WAILING!!!!

This is how it’s done. Perfection (and FUN!)

  26. taylorfan06 Says:

This is how I’m feeling here today.

  27. taylorfan06 Says:

    Until another time….

  28. Nice Beatle video. Can you believe John Lennon wrote that song?

  29. Fairhope Says:

Boo! Where the hell is everybody?

  30. Fairhope Says:

OMG y’all! I bought tickets for the thing Taylor’s doing at the casino. I’m taking my mother. I warned her that that there will be crazies lined up in their lawn chairs at 6 that morning trying to get front row seats. She’s just interested in eating at the casino buffet! Woo hoo! Atmore, AL…now that’s backwoods!

  31. casualfan Says:

FH-someone said that event wasn’t a concert. He’s only judging a contest and will perform a song or 2. My bet is there’s a “par-tay” happening at one of the bars later that night 😉

  32. Last I heard it was said that he would sing Six songs through out the show.

  33. hicksaholic Says:

    Fairhope,
I’ve got tickets too. I hope I can meet you. I’m bringing a friend and another friend is driving us so we can go back to Mobile afterwards. I definitely would love to know if he’a going to perform at a bar later if that’s what you mean, cf, because then I may need to spend the night. I heard up to 6 songs from Taylor. I debated but he’s too close not to go.
Fairhope, I won’t be with the crazies, be at least 7PM or so getting there. Also don’t have any lawn chairs, but you’re right, some will be lining up early and knocking down anyone who gets in their way.

  34. casualfan Says:

I don’t blame you in the least for going. To see Taylor judge a contest and get some music in to boot is a real treat. Heck, I’m jealous…would love to be there myself. Hope the tkts sell well and all has a great time!

  35. taylorfan06 Says:

Remembering Ryan White. 20 years later…

  36. Fairhope Says:

There ain’t no bar in Atmore I’m interested in going in!!!!!!!

  37. Fairhope Says:

Seriously! Atmore’s not a destination place. I can’t imagine him hanging around. This is an Indian Reservation. It’s not like Biloxi/Gulfport casinos where there’s a lot to do and see.

  38. hicksaholic Says:

I was trying to figure out the bar thing too. I don’t know Atmore but I’m guessing a truck stop might be the most popular restaurant in town. I can’t see Taylor hanging in Atmore unless he gambles at the casino after his judging thing(not even sure he would want to do that).I am guessing Taylor has to be back at Grease by Monday PM for Tuesday show right? I’m guessing he may head back to Bham or to Gulf Shores for a night before returning to Grease. Wish I knew where(assuming he is performing)

  39. casualfan Says:

I don’t know where the hell Atmore is. I assumed that Mobile was close by and that’s why I made that comment. My bad…

  40. hicksaholic Says:

Atmore is about 50 or 60 miles north of Mobile.

  41. hicksaholic Says:

Taylor might head to Gulf Shores to spend a day with Joni and see what damage happens with the oil spill.

  42. Interesting blog here!

    @hicksaholic : Who is Joni?

  43. I’m feeling for hicksaholic and FH and everyone along the gulf. This is a nightmare. On a lighter note, fairhope said Taylor looks like “special needs”, in the above brown sox photo. Anyone, besides me, wish to take care of Taylors (SPECIAL) needs?

  44. taylorfan06 Says:

    Nostalgia Friday. For Taylor.

    =============================================
He usually sends a limo for her to attend a local venue that he’s performing at. He will most likely visit her at the casino. There’s a few nutty fans who know where JH lives and if they catch wind of T being there, they will either drop in for a visit or call and check up on their “favorite grandma”.

  47. taylorfan06 Says:

Two GTREAT songs from 1974. One year later (or so), Taylor was conceived.
    Thank you Daddy Hicks!

  48. taylorfan06 Says:

    I meant “GREAT”

  49. casualfan Says:

Thanks for the vids TF6. Wishing all a wonderful and relaxing weekend. 😉

  50. hicksaholic Says:

    Hey, don’t forget Mama Hicks.

  51. casualfan Says:

I was on Youtube taking in the vids of both Lee and Crystal. I just don’t see the comparisons between Crystal and Taylor but I do see it between Lee and Taylor. Lee may be quiter and not as spunky and even lacks stage presence when compared to Hicks, but there’s something raw about him and his music that drives it home for me. I feel strongly that once Lee finds is stage legs-as he seems to be doing each week, Lee is the underdog of this season-IMO of course.

  52. hicksaholic Says:

Odds for quite some time have Lee and Crystal in the finals. They are my two favorites. And although I have not bought any of their itunes, general consensus is Lee’s recordings are outstanding even if his live performance isn’t. He may well be the winner even though I feel sure Crystal is set for a recording contract regardless.

  53. hicksaholic Says:

Waiting on the oil slick to hit Alabama and getting more and more nervous. Live on the water, own a beach lot and sell waterfront real estate. Kind of got all the eggs in one possibly oil drenched basket.

  54. hicksaholic Says:

I have also decided that while I am opposed to capital punishment, I will make an exception for the top execs of these huge companies unwilling to spend the money to prevent this type of catastrophe. It’s another prime example of corporate greed. Capitalism is great up to a point but there must be some controls or corporate greed runs rampant(kind of like this post)

  55. Fairhope Says:

Just saw my brother-in-law on the Fox News Channel. Apparently he escorted the BP spokesperson to the meeting with the fishermen in Bayou La Batre. God help her if he starts talking politics!!!

  56. Fairhope Says:

Hicks: I’m also looking out my front door at Mobile Bay with a sinking feeling. I’ve been watching Fox News all day and I’m wondering if it’s overblown coverage like they do with hurricanes or is it truely gonna be awful? I’ve lived on the water for 4 years now and it seems it’s always something to worry about. Is it worth it???????

  57. casualfan Says:

FH-An oil spill is always tragic…on the people, the communities, the land, the economy and the wild life. I feel really bad for Louisiana because they are still recovering from Katrina and now this. I pray that Lake Pontchartrain won’t be affected by this. Besides, seeing oil wash up on a beach is just down right ugly and it smells aweful.

  58. casualfan Says:

And that would be awful and not aweful. =(

  59. Fairhope Says:

CF: Please don’t take this as sounding bitchy but I get so upset when everybody thinks New Orleans is the only place that was hit by Katrina. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was ground zero. Whole towns were devastated. Small fishing towns like Bayou La Batre, Coden and Dauphin Island were devastated in Alabama. The street I live on was heavily damaged…houses with only their roofs remaining flat on the ground. THis almost exactly one year after Ivan created the same destruction. The levies broke in New Orleans. It flooded. You didn’t hear the the cry of “where is the government?” in MS or AL because the good people of these states don’t rely heavily on the federal government. We are hard working red blooded middle America and we take care of ourselves. We don’t stand around and wait for government handouts! THe vietmanese communities of Bayou La Batre and Coden rallied around each other and survived. Their fishing boats were destroyed but you didn’t see Brad Pitt there helping them rebuild. Sean Penn was nowhere to be seen in MS or AL. Even on the recent anniversary of Katrina Obama only visited New Orleans totally ignoring MS and AL. This because LA voted for him. I can’t stand the liberal media and liberal hollywood and this was a perfect case in point!!!

  60. hicksaholic Says:

FH, everything I am hearing is this is unprecedented with the potential to be a lot worse than Katrina. It seems to get worse by the hour. The winds will shift on Tuesday from the south to the north so if we can hang on til then that will help but if the well isn’t stopped it’s just a matter of time. Plus somebody(or probably everybody) is going to get the terrible effects. It tripled in size in ONE day. Can you imagine if they can’t contain the well pretty quickly?
Hear BP is trying to settle for $5000 with whoever will settle without a lawyer. I’ve got a gulffront lot. Thinking about going to take before pics tomorrow.
If this was truly preventable I am going to be SO PISSED I will never buy another BP product again, but I guess a lot of the problem lies with us as a nation. We do not regard energy conservation as critical as a nation. I guess those countries who don’t have our incredible natural resources have learned the hard lessons years ago and now it is our turn.
On a side note, I’ve heard the stench in Venice LA is incredible already.
Please pray for the Gulf Coast- we need it.

  61. hicksaholic Says:

I feel terrible for ANYONE effected by Katrina(and God knows there were a lot effected) but New Orleans being a below sea level city seemed to go through a special hell. Bayou La Batre was devastated by Katrina too but I think most evacuated safely prior to the storm(it’s a fairly small town). The west end of Dauphin Island was heavily damaged but most of those homes were second homes so no one was in them when the storm struck. In New Orleans the combination of the poor, the fact they couldn’t(or more likely didn’t have the means) to evacuate and the levees failing was tragic. New Orleans had by far the bulk of the Katrina deaths probably due to inability to leave and/or not understanding the seriousness of the situation. Very sad regardless.

  62. mamaforpeace Says:

You know what pisses ME off??? The assumption that the poor are poor because they are not hard working. If they would just be willing to work hard enough, they would never need a hand-out. When I hear that, I think there but for the grace of God…
Terrible disasters, all of them. And preventable to a certain extent: better levees and better back up systems on the oil rigs (if you are interested, here is a link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704423504575212031417936798.html
In any case, my heart goes out to anyone affected by these disasters, rich or poor.

  63. mamaforpeace Says:

On a lighter note… it’s hard to remain a TH fan when so little is going on. I came around to not minding Grease so much because there were some shadow tours once in a while. Now I feel like I would have had a better chance to see Hicks when he was a broke musician (if I had been lucky enough to know about him). He had a lot more gigs going on then!

  64. taylorfan06 Says:

On a lighter note… it’s hard to remain a TH fan when so little is going on.

    ________________________________________________________

I’m not sure I really understand that logic.
    The music is ALWAYS there!

  65. casualfan Says:

FH-I’ll refrain from responding to your overly zealous post.

Hicksaholic and MFP-Love both of your comments.

MFP-Believe me, I understand your frustration re Taylor and we aren’t alone.

TF6-I think what MFP is saying is that it’s hard to remain invested as a fan of someone who has stalled in his music career and doesn’t seem to have an interest in re-starting it, which I completely understand. We can continue the game on the merry-go-round or simply move on, which obviously most of his fans have chosen to do.

The music is only living on from the past my dear. 😉

  66. Fairhope Says:

My post was far from overly zealous. You weren’t there. You did not see what I saw. Biloxi, Gulfport, Pass Christian, Pascagoula are not places where people just have second homes. These are blue collar towns! GIve me a break about New Orleans. My heart bleeds for years of government entitlments that left generation after generation of people dependant on the government. Get off your ass, quit having illegitimate children and get a job! And Hicks, let me do my research but I believe just as many people died in MS as New Orleans. Baton Rouge and Houston were also affected because of the crime rates that soared in their cities from the refugees that arrived from New Orleans. I’ve lived here all my life. I know exactly what happens in New Orleans. I know there are hard working people there too. But step off a side street in the french quarter and you better watch your ass because they don’t care if you are a sally bleeding heart do gooder. They’ll shot you and take your money in a heart beat. Quit kidding yourselves!!!!!

  67. casualfan Says:

How do you know I wasn’t there FH? One of my nephews got killed in Katrina and yes-I did see the devastation. One of my sisters lived in the Gulfport area and her home was completely destroyed. My family was deeply affected by both NO AND the coast along with close friends of mine. So don’t preach to me about what you saw or anything else because you don’t know me personally or anything about me OR the people of New Orleans for that matter.

If you don’t care for NO then don’t go back there, but remember that violence is everywhere, including in the great state of Alabama.

  68. Don’t know why anyone would find it hard to follow Taylor’s career. He may not be doing exactly what you wish he was doing but he is busy and there have been lots of media appearences and articles to read. He put out a CD with all that was going on last yr and is now talking about another one. So he is putting music out there. The shadow shows were nice. Would have liked a few more but I know it is hard to sustain those over the whole Grease Tour. Given the fact that alot of touring artists are having a hard time right now I think Grease was a good choice. It kept his name out there and helped put a more positive spin on him as a bankable artist. Elliot is out there trying to put dates together and having a hard time. He has an awesome voice. He got radio play with his first CD and seemed to be off to a better start than Taylor but now is having trouble breaking through to radio again. He had to cancel several shows because of low ticket sales last summer. It’s a hard business made even harder by the economy. Who knows what’s ahead for Taylor the only thing certain is that I intend to be there to see. LOL.

I’m in total agreement Dee. Nice post. I plan to remain a “fan for life.” I think that Taylor will remain active and keep his name out there. The next cd can’t come soon enough for me, as well as another gig in CA. I’ll continue to look forward to both.

  70. Snowstorm Says:

Keep dreaming about Taylor’s big career. What’s next is holing himself up down South and the occasional town festival gig.

  71. taylorfan06 Says:

I was just watching Top 20 Countdown on VH1. Every song is so formulamatic. The only songs that really stood out were Adam Lambert and Lady Antebellum.

I haver to say that I strongly dislike Justin “Mouseboy” Timberlake. I hate that he is relevant in music. Why is that? Are we doomed?

  72. casualfan Says:

TF6-I’m not a fan of Justin either, but everyone has different taste in music and his group NSYNC appealed to the masses. It’s all a matter of personal taste.

  73. taylorfan06 Says:

I know that’s true but I still hate it! I find Mouseboy just gross!!!
Not a big fan of the “wigger”/poser thing. Lord help us. JMO.

  74. taylorfan06 Says:

I actually liked the pop sensibility of NSYNC over what he morphed into.
“Bye Bye Bye” is actually a guilty pleasure of mine on my iPod.

  75. taylorfan06 Says:

That song had a nice hook. That really “hooks” me in with a song. Very few songs are doing that for me these days. Actually, the last few years.

Sorry can’t edit Also meant to say go there.

  78. mamaforpeace Says:

I am sorry, but for me, there isn’t enough music out there from TH that I really like to sustain as much of an interest as I had before. Plus, I really like to see him perform, either in person or via videos, and damn it! I want something new. I know he is doing Grease and trying to keep his name out there. But that does nothing for ME! And being neither friend nor family to Taylor, ME is what matters:) He can certainly go ahead and do whatever he wants. He can keep talking about projects he has. If he puts a new cd out, I’ll be one of the first to buy it. If he puts on a real show (not a judging contest or whatever), I’ll go to it if I can. But for now, nada! As i said, we probably had a better chance to see him perform before he won AI. He somehow found the money to do gigs then. Lots of musicians keep doing that who don’t have the money TH has. It’s in their blood, they can’t help it. Come hell or high waters (oh, wait, that was a previous post!!!), they’ll keep playing their music. That is what you have to do if you want to be an independent artist. So, yes, I find it hard to remain a committed fan. But I’ll be here when he comes up with something new.

  79. Fairhope Says:

So let’s just agree to disagree and call it over.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head. Go Anne!!!!

  83. mamaforpeace Says:

Well, Anne, I have to say when it comes to friends and family and people I love, I totally agree with you. When it comes to a celebrity, not so much.

  84. mfp…..I don’t get much involved with celebrities or their drama…Taylor Hicks effects my soul when he belts out music I love , and when he does something I don’t care for ….that’s Ok because it my have effect on someone else’s soul..so it’s all good. I still love Elvis and Solomon Burke and Jackie Wilson etc ,,,not because they are always out there doing something to entertain me (obviously) but because like Taylor when they sing a great song nobody does it better or with more feeling. It;s simple.I don’t expect any singer to crank out cd’s every year or tour 365 days a year or be in the press every week ….I know when it happens it is worth the wait.

  85. mamaforpeace Says:

I get it, Anne, really I do! I am still here after all.

  86. hicksaholic Says:

I do wish Taylor could do more concerts though. I’m going to the judging thing because it’s close to me and he will at least do a few songs. It’s better than nothing but I would love a full blown Workplay type event.

  98. I’m not sure I get some of you guys? You complain that he’s in Grease and not doing real music and then he schedules a real music gig and you complain that it’s not good enough. I’ve read over and over again from some that he should be booking gigs even if they are small ones. That if he wanted to be a true working musician he would be singing even if it’s back to the small dives. Seems to me booking a gig out in the open where new people other than fans can hear him is a great way to broaden a fan base. That is what he is suppose to be doing isn’t it?

  99. casualfan Says:

Dee, I’m not complaining at all. I think it’s great that he’s being booked at all-doesn’t matter where it is at this point as long as he’s bringing the music. But having a little fun shouldn’t be a negative thing.

  100. OK. CF. Just wondering. LOL.

  101. casualfan Says:

Bottom line: TAYLOR HICKS = GREAT ENTERTAINMENT

No spin. No defending. Just My View.

  104. He is doing 6 shows on Oct. 9th and 10th at Epcot and I already have made my hotel and flight reservations. The hotel prices are higher because it is Columbus Day weekend holiday , so this year Epcot gave him the prime spot and advertised he may make an appearance at the AI experience at Hollywood studios. He has dropped hints about DWTS. Since that is the top rated show, that would be great if he is selected as a contestent. I’ve noticed no one has given suggestions for what products or services Tay could sponsor. He looks great in certain sunglasses, Kentucky Derby for example, so sunglasses work for me. For whatever reason, I’d like to see him do a razor blade commercial. He could talk about a tough beard, smear his face with shave cream, jut out his chin and shave his neck and face on air. His eyes would stand out and he’d look hot and manly.

  105. casualfan Says:

Congrats Rosie. No doubt you will enjoy yourself.

  106. hicksaholic Says:

    Rosie,
I don’t know why but I was laughing out loud at your post about the shaving. You put a lot of thought into that. Funny.

I agree… if Taylor sings anywhere it’s good-that’s why I can’t skip the stupid judging thing.

  107. casualfan Says:

Hicksaholic-You are going to a good one. I would LOVE to see that myself. It’s different and no doubt he will incert his wit and humor-all of which I love about him. You will see a side of T that not many has seen. CONGRATS!

  108. casualfan Says:

    insert, not incert…jeeez

  109. taylorfan06 Says:

    Good times… past, present, future….

  110. Lee for the AI win! Taylor’s fans should also get into Lee’s music. The little guy put his heart and soul into his song tonight. Tay’s season, the top 5 each sang two songs. Tonight they top 5 only had a chance to sing one Sinatra song. Mike and Crystal have talent, but Lee just has that voice. What the guy lacks in charisma, he has a voice for radio. I gave in and have been voting my ass off. He will be safe and so will I. I won’t get invested in his career, but I hope he has one, as he deserves it.

  111. taylorfan06 Says:

It’s been 30 years! Great artist. Great song.
Very inspired. Another one for Taylor.

  112. taylorfan06 Says:

Twofer Tuesday – from the AMAZING Bob Seger. ENJOY!!!
    I really love this one!

  113. All of ya’ll are a bit daffy and may need a shot of B vitamins to get you steady. Taylor is now marketing B vitamin shots via twitter. I assume it is a shot in the arm and not in one’s behind. Behind the scene, needle pricks, work for me as far as Mr. Hicks promoting/ marketing a product. The more of the behind view— the better the the $$’s earned.

  114. casualfan Says:

Rosie, I’ve said that about Lee from the beginning. In a lot of ways, he reminds me of Taylor much more than Crystal ever did. I never understood the comparisons with Crystal and Taylor.

I take B12 everyday and no, I’m in no way “daffy” as you say.

  115. casualfan Says:

  116. casualfan Says:

  117. I’m deathly allergic to Vit. B12 shots. Found out the hard way. LOL.

If I could choose a product for Taylor to endorse it would be Levi Jeans.
He fills jeans out sooo nice. LOL.

  118. casualfan Says:

Not sure about what you guys think, but I really feel that Lee is going to win this competition.

  119. taylorfan06 Says:

  120. mamaforpeace Says:

A REAL mentor on AI for once. I feel Harry Connick Jr took the job seriously. I though Mile and Lee were the best tonight. Does anyone else think that Lee reminds them of Dave Matthews a bit?

  121. casualfan Says:

Yeah he does, but he also has aspects of Taylor.

I completely agree with you on Harry. Aaron made the comment that it was fun performing with the “Big Band” and Harry replied that it was his life. Harry is one of the few musicians left-IMO who really holds true to the integrity of the music and to his craft. He’s a true Icon. His passion truly lives on thru his words and his melody. To him, it really is “all about the music”

  122. mamaforpeace Says:

Total agreement on both of your statements, CF. I was wondering if I was the only one who saw the similarity between Lee and Dave. He does remind me of Taylor too w/o the “entertainer” aspect.

  123. taylorfan06 Says:

Sorry folks, but Idol really blows this year. Lee is odd. He will not make it in this business. I just don’t get it! And i’ve given up trying. He always looks like he’s been smelling the paint fumes. Snap out of it! *flashback to Cher in Moonstruck* And Kara? can someone vote off her pursed lipped ass?

  124. casualfan Says:

Nothing is a sure thing in the music industry TF6 but I think Lee has a career ahead of him. He’s got something and with the right cultivation he will go places.

MFP-I agree with the entertainer comment too. Lee is a musician. He reminds me of the pre-Idol Taylor in many ways. There is something raw about him. Crystal is good, but she has a bit of an attitude and is starting to sound a little monotonous to me.

  125. casualfan Says:

Did y’all know there was a second oil rig accident in Louisiana? It was minor of course, but still….glad nothing serious came of this.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE63T55Q20100430

  126. hicksaholic Says:

Been following the oil spill situation closely. Did you know BP offered Bayou La Batre fishermen jobs to help protect the mainland but it was a 38 page contract with a clause that prevented them from collecting from BP in a lawsuit? BP says it was a “misstep” and removed the clause. Now BP says it may take 3 months to stop the leak. They said although they will try the dome it has only been used successfully in depths up to 400 feet not 5000 feet like this one. My response is no shit Sherlock. Sorry, but this BP stuff and total lack of corporate moral responsibility infuriates me. It is pure corporate greed at its finest. Obviously we as a oil glutton consuming nation (myself included) bear responsibility too.

  127. I love Lee’s voice and thought he was fantastic last night. *fingers crossed he wins it all. Love Crystal too but there is something about those raspy voice guys that I love.

  128. Ange Bleu Says:

A lot of the gigs that Taylor is scheduled to do may have been set up six months ,or even longer, ago. If he does come out here (Movieland) they’ll probably be a lot of negotiations & screen tests. and interviews. Then there’s more horsing around. It will probably be months before anything does or doesn’t come together. Such is showbiz. However, I’m wondering about his agent. Who represents him? He doesn’t seem to have a manager, or if he does he’s not doing a good job. Yes, I’ve heard that Taylor has been approached by DWTS to be on the show. It’s all rumors, but supposedly they are offering the same money deal as Kate Gosselin received – l/2mil. Hard to believe. I believe it was reported on MSN that Jon Gosselin turned down l/2 mil to be on the show. I thought most of the contestants were paid around $200 thou to be on the show, but apparently they’ll pay more for someone they really want. They offered George Clooney seven mil and were turned down. It they get Taylor they’ll have the next best thing.

  129. casualfan Says:

Good for George! It shows he’s got class.

  130. George doesn’t need 7 million, but Taylor could use a half a million and revitalize his career. I see it as a win win thing for Taylor. Being on the most popular tv show would give Tay a boost and the year and a half of press interviews has helped him hone his tv verbal skills.

  131. casualfan Says:

George Clooney would never put himself into that position. He’s an A listed Actor who doesn’t need to appear on any reality show. He’s got much more class than that.

  132. casualfan Says:

Why is everyone so obsessed with Taylor being on DWTS? NO ONE in this fandom knows for a fact that anything like that has been discussed with Taylor or if he’s ever been approached by them in the first place. Just because he’s referenced DWTS doesn’t mean anything. The poor guy can’t even casually mention anything without it being taken so seriously.

And the only way Taylor will ever revitalize his career is by getting his ass into the studio and recording quality music. Enough said.

If anyone is truly interested in how passion for the music really is, check out the next blog about Spoonfull James. Perhaps Taylor should take lessons from them. They ARE all about the music.

  133. If one of Spoonful James won AI, I think they’d act just like Taylor has with regards to trying to maintain a good career. I had to laugh at the comment that Tay can’t mention anything without it being taken seriously. Truer words were never spoken. During one of his Jax interviews the person asked him about the fans being all up in his business or using any means to get close to him. Taylor did a great eye roll and exasperated expression, but none of the SP made a comment. It is way more likely he’d be on DWTS’s then being Leno’s new band leader, yet some fans discussed the later as though it were possible.

  134. mamaforpeace Says:

My vote is NO DWTS, please! Enough of all those crappy gigs! Do some real MUSIC gigs already.
And Hicks, thanks for your post. It’s amazing how many people complain about the poor “using the system”, and how little you hear complaints about corporate greed.

  135. casualfan Says:

I agree with what you are saying Rosie. None of us know what T is going to do untill he actually does it.

    Amen MFP…AMEN! 😉

  136. Thanks for those fantastic Green Day songs! I forget how good they are. 🙂
