This, my friends…

is a music video. You guys can say what you want about Adam Lambert, but I love how he pushes the edge every time.

When I blather on and on about being true to the music, this is what I’m talking about. No apologies, no fear, just letting the music take him whatever it wants to go. Wow. Whatever fate has in store for Adam Lambert, I think it’s going to be big. Pushing the envelope and getting people talking is usually a good thing, and he definitely has a knack for it.

What’s interesting to me is that when I think of Adam Lambert, I don’t think American Idol. In one fell swoop, he managed to distance himself from the corporation that is AI. When I hear Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, I still think, oh, American Idol. But somehow, Adam Lambert has done the impossible, and I bet his career will take off because of it.

Given that and the fact that you think Adam is true to the music, then why don’t you have a blog about him?

Just looked like one more Lady Gaga or whoever. They are interchangeable.
Frankly, I think the music was the last thing thought about in that video.
Its all for show, been done a hundred times, and pretty phony. Its cookie cutter shock but seems to be what people want so more power to them.
He could become the biggest thing on earth or not, its all the same to me.
I kind of like watching him cause I always get to laughing. 🙂

Henry, Totally agree with you, think it was way overproduced, took away from the song itself. I found it hard to listen to the song with all that going on, his voice seems manufactured now not clear like it was on Idol. Shock or no shock just didn’t reach me at all.

    JI

  3. Grey-LOVE IT! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  4. But somehow, Adam Lambert has done the impossible, and I bet his career will take off because of it.
    ===============================================
Totally agree! He’s over the top and that’s exactly how he wants it! He can also be passionate, soulful and serious. AI opened the door for him and he proudly went through that door and onto the road of success!

    Thanks Grey!

  5. Seeing how this is America, I can pretty much blog about whatever I want. It’s my prerogative. That being said, it’s also your prerogative to read it or not. Thanks Henry for the candid openness, as always!

  6. Given that and the fact that you think Adam is true to the music, then why don’t you have a blog about him?

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAA!! I think the answer is obvious, darling.
    😀

Anyway, the choreography, the videography is of a professional level not equaled in “Seven Mile Breakdown”. But it’s all good. Comparing Hicks and Lambert does have an apples/oranges aspect to it. But then again, I like all kinds of fruit. I’m not that picky!! 😀

  7. But then again, I like all kinds of fruit. I’m not that picky!!

ooops! You did it again! ****ROFLMAO****

  8. Taylor is featured on Drake’s new CD, ‘Thank Me Later’, to be released Feb. 2010. Tay’s track is Wanna Luv U But Can’t Do It. Drake is the hottest thing right now and the CD features all the big names in hip hop rap and R&B. Drake says only 3 or 4 of the tracks will be hip hop, as it is a mostly singing CD. David Foster is on Tay’s track! That Tay keeps everything close to the vest. Hope you all saw the vid of Taylor with the 3 Stealing Angels. They were all giggly and atwitter. My opinion is Adam is way over rated, and Ai is using him as much as he is using them.. I’m very picky when it comes to fruits and nuts!

    Here’s a new banner pic for you…

  10. Oh, this is what happens when different musicians are discussed on a music blog. Interesting.

  11. Pearl Necklace Says:

If Taylor would have not cow towed to the pearl clutchers from the start, he’d probably still be talked about to this day. He allowed the grannies to dictate then eventually ruin his career.

Adam came out (pun intended) and said “Entitlement isn’t sexy.” and that he isn’t anyone’s babysitter. He’s an entertainer.

Adam was smart to say he was an entertainer from the start. This way, when he fails and goes to Broadway, there’ll be no blogs picking him apart over semantics.

  12. Oh, this is a general all around music blog? Excuse me, I didn’t realize. I was fooled by the grey in the name and the picture. My bad.

    Nice banner. 😆

YKW, what was obvious to you wasn’t to me. ??

What is hysterical to me is that Adam is not doing exactly what AI wants. He is their designated shock jock. Put out there to make them a whole bunch of money and he won’t stray to far from what they want.
I am sure his video cost a whole lot more than others but then he didn’t have to pay for it. He has owners to take care of that.
I’m just not as gullible as some.
Apparently voice alone can do it, I see Susan Boyle sold over 600,000 in one week. Astounding. And damned if the same people aren’t getting rich off her too. Smart folks.

Saw that about the rappers CD rosie. I like Drake, he also does R&B but I have to know more. Very unexpected and too many mistakes are made. Hope its right, we shall see.

  13. I guess I didn’t realize that you could only use the word “grey” regarding Taylor Hicks. Wow. But I really think you’re missing the point, Henry. You don’t have to come here. You don’t have to read here. Nobody’s forcing you to do that. You like to come here, say your little diatribes, then run back to other blogs, talking about this one. What’s funny is that you don’t realize that by doing that, you’re giving me more hits. So, carry on.

  14. Never concerned myself with your hits. Why would I care?
I guess it was the combination of the word gray with the pic of Taylor that fooled me. I should have known that you picked that color at random.
I read your blog same as I do many others, watched you video and expressed an opinion. Thats a diatribe? If so then I see many, here , there and everywhere.
And other blogs are talked about here, so whats the difference?

  15. Oh okay, Henry..you’re definitely right. You never come here to piss everybody off. I totally believe you. 😉

While the original intent of this blog may have been to discuss Taylor and his music, it most certainly is not a just Taylor Hicks blog now. Frankly, he’s just not doing enough to keep a whole blog going.

  16. Ok, I thought the blog pics were silly. On just about every thread including those featuring Tay, other artist and their vids are featured. We tend to ramble and not always adress what the topic is. That is why I posted the news about Drake, and think no mistake has been made. What I don’t get is the tude of some that when featuring other artists, especially guys from AI. There tends to be the attitude that they do it right and Tay did and does it wrong. It should not be too hard to understand that constant theme, upsets some of Taylor’s big fans.

IAG, ITA with your post. This video is a feast for the eyes and ears!!! I don’t think its overproduced at all. Adam looks great and he’s definitely “in control”. He captures the spirit of the song with visuals that creat a mood that’s dark and a bit pervy, which I love ; ) Dance/club songs when done well are a lot of fun. Music doesn’t have to be so serious all the time and I think he’s just having naughty fun with this song.

Anyway, I had to delurk to say that I am not new to the Taylor community and have been one of his biggest advocates, but lately he has done nothing to keep me entertained. While at first I didn’t have an issue with him doing Grease, I think the length of time he is investing in the show has left me with a “meh” kinda feeling.

I realze he’s doing shadow shows trying to keep the music alive, but maybe he is getting a bit lazy in terms of keeping his audience engaged. I don’t understand why he can’t add a few modern cover songs into his set? I like Gotta Move, but wow…how many more times am I going to hear it?

I would love it if he would add some modern soul or do some sort of acoustic version of a current song – kinda like what Kris Allen/David Cook did on Idol. Please Taylor…just think about it…Lol
For the time being I will be digging on Adam while watching and waiting to see what Taylor does after Grease. Still think Tay is super talented but needs to focus his energy into a more modern vibe. JMHO

  18. Welcome, luv!! Glad you came out of lurkdom. 🙂

  19. Tayforever Says:

So it’s okay to bash the living hell out of Taylor, but no way can we criticize Adam? (Even though it’s a “music blog” where “everyone has a right to their opinion”?)

Just trying to figure out the rules…

  20. FYI, Adam’s first week CD sales have him 19th best for 2009, first week sales. Three former AI peeps, D., Kelly, and Kerry did better. With all his hype on TV and Magazine covers and his supposedly legions of fans, I think he made a piss poor showing. He has also backtracked like a humble coward on all his TV appearances this week. Me and most of his fans think AI execs got to him and pulled his chain. There is no more giving the bird tude from him. In fact he sounds like he is no longer flying like an Eagle, but hopping like a baby sparrow.

  21. Tayforever, you can bash Adam. I just did……

  22. luv 2 b entertained Says:

Thanks Grey!!! Its not easy for me but I was feeling courageous today : )

and btw, that should b Gonna Move in my post not Gotta move..Lol

  23. When Adam sang those lyrics it just hit me in a place in my heart that I forgot existed. Sure I’m a bit older, but I still love music. It’s just that over the last few years (too many to count), I haven’t heard anything that MOVED me in any way. But this . . .

    So hot out the box
Can we pick up the pace
Turn it up, heat it up
    I need to be entertained
Push the limit, are you with it, baby, don’t be afraid
Imma hurt you real good baby

Well, that just changed everything for me. I cried a little at the deep well of emotion that I’ve been repressing for so long. This is what the music industry needs – someone who’s willing to look them in the face and say “I’m bringing real music back to fuckin’ dance music – and I’ll take that to the bank”!

I mean how long can I listen to stuff like this clearly mindless carp?

“Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun and baby when it’s love if its not rough it isn’t fun, fun”
    – Lady Ga Ga Madonna

    When Adam’s answer is:

“Can you handle what I’m ’bout to do
‘Cause it’s about to get rough for you ”

Wait a minute, are Adam and Lady Ga Ga a couple. I thought he was gay and she was a he, or not, hell – I’m so confused. Go Adam, sell millions!

  24. casualfan Says:

No, it doesn’t and it shouldn’t be dreary. People go to dance clubs to have fun and escape reality which is how it should be. Adam’s music reminds me how fun it all can be and to not be taken too seriously. I’m in my early 40’s and had forgotten how fun the dance scene can be. Adam is colorful, uplifting and fun.

  26. CF, Hahaha. Good One!

  27. Rosie-That’s awesome about Taylor being on someone elses cd. With the way his music career has been going it’s great to see someone pick him up to give him a boost. No doubt he’s humbled by that.

hahaha Damn that was so clever and funny. Should keep me laughing all day. 🙄 😆 😆

  28. Legacy, I responded to your post on the last thread. I know what the Mile High Club is. My sense of humor can be too dry or subtle for those who don’t know me to get my yokes. So on the last thread I responded to your post in yet another dry humor fashion.

  29. 😆 charcoal

Actually I do find Adam entertaining. The idea of him “getting rough with you”. Very entertaining. 😆

Hes not getting off to too whippy of a start on that selling millions. But its just a start. He’ll get there.

This makes me think of boogie a little. The gals are getting their rocks off over Adam. Hysterical and totally weird to me. 🙂

  30. Can’t get the vid to play for me But I like Adam and think everything he does has a theatrical flare to it. That’s where his roots are. If he had won AI I think the PTB would have had a heart attack. Now they can be in the background of his career and not take the hits for all the outrageous stuff he’s bound to do and still pocket all the money while keeping their distance at the same time. LOL. As far as Taylor, he’s the hardest working guy I know. That’s one of the reasons I keep pulling for him. He’s had every reason to whine and cry about how he was treated but has always taken the high road .When Blake Lewis didn’t sell in the numbers he thought he would and was dropped, he whined like a baby. LOL. I think Taylor still has a lot of life in his career. I’m far from dismissing him.

  31. Charcoal said, “I’m bringing real music back to fuckin’ dance music – and I’ll take that to the bank”! His fans Think he is “The Real Thing”. Well until they decide he’s not. At least they will accept him on Broadway and he can dress up to his hearts delight, and they will say he is just being himself and showing his various talents.

  32. I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since American Idol and have went to more than my share of concerts. I have met Taylor on several occasions and we have had good conversations. Taylor enjoys talking about music and his face lights up with excitement all the time. I don’t understand why there is so much anger and hatred over discussing the music of Adam Lambert or any other artist here for that matter. If Taylor’s nature is to celebrate music then shouldn’t we as fans also support that?

Grey I enjoy your blog and find it not in the least boring or intimidating. It seems that most-if not all of Taylor Hicks fan sites/blogs are content on reliving the same events over and over again. It’s a refreshing change to see someone not so narrow minded and willing to walk to the edge.

I will leave with an observation. If people are so offended by what is written on this blog as they so vocally state on other blogs, then why do they find it necessary to venture over here? Perhaps they should stretch their own imagination and exercise their own creativity into making the blog they so frequent a more interesting place to be.

    Just my thoughts.

Hope all to have a happy holiday season.

  33. One more thing for those who keep saying Adam is being REAL don’t be fooled. He is very calculated. Not only is he Gay but in several interviews he has alluded to being Bi-curious. This came across SO FALSE esp. since I remembered him saying he was never interested in females. All a farce to play to female fans. I don’t mean this as a slam either, only making note of it, because I am a Adam fan but I have no illusions about him.

  34. casualfan Says:

Dee-I have no illusions about Adam. I don’t give a damn what his sexual preference is and people who keep bringing up that fact are the ones with the problems. He’s playing up to his fan-base which is totally normal and expected. He will tell them what they want to hear-as with any other musician, actor or anyone else in the business. But I do feel he’s being real with his music and that’s what matters to me. If an artist has to shift their genre around just to gain fans and get noticed then they should switch to another profession. On the other hand if an artist wants to play different genre’s because they love and enjoy where-ever the music takes them then IMO they are still being true to themselves.

Henry that’s one thing we have in common because I find you equally entertaining. 😉

  36. I Hate IT!! Really, that is my reaction. I was not impressed with the song when I first heard it and I think I dislike it more now. The video is awful IMHO. I had high hopes for Adam as an artist, with that great voice of his. I’m SO disappointed. He peaked in the middle of the show and has continued downhill from there.

Charcoal pointed out some lyrics in Poker Face that I also read & disliked very much yesterday after watching the Daughtry version of the song. I liked how Daughtry sang it, but the lyrics are gawd-awful, just like “For Your Entertainment.”

  37. CF . . you may have been posting tongue-in-cheek but in case you weren’t . . . you must know that collaborative and super group albums seem to be ‘the thing’ lately.

Probably would have just skimmed and left as usually do when the mood is contentious but happen to be listening to Assembly of Dust’s Some Assembly Required . . I rather doubt any of the artists on this album think it is a handout to be asked to work together . . suspect they are flattered to be asked and enjoy doing it.

Despite the efforts of the bloodhounds, I seriously doubt all of Taylor’s connections / music friendships are known to the fanbase.
Am I excited by him being on a rapper’s album ? . . not really . . but I’ll listen with an open mind when it shows up since I’ve learned to never say never when it comes to music . . if I can learn to like some bluegrass music then anything is possible.

I’m not going to get into the Adam issue . . it’s a lose-lose conversation and I rarely feel the need to piss in anyone’s musical cheerios ( Legacy, I do love you dearly ). If he is doing what he wants to do then more power to him . . he’ll find his “Whataya Want From Me” audience.

If the world survived Ziggy Stardust and Spiders from Mars . . I think it will survive Adam 😉

  38. Well CF when Taylor plays up to his fans he’s blasted for it. As far as changing different genre’s Taylor does what he likes and so does Adam. They both enjoy all kinds of music.

  39. See some new peeps here. Averymae, if you are familiar with this blog then you should know that is what we do. Vids of other music is on just about every thread, in fact too much sometimes to even watch half of it. When you read between the lines, some here imply Tay should be a little more like someone else or say he isn’t true to his music. This is the 2nd thread devoted to Adam in recent time. So as a regular here I thought I’d let people know my opinion of him, just like I do with Tay. I’ve seen no hate or anger directed towards Adam. I’ve gotten a kick out of reading his MJ threads. He has some OTT fans who come off to me as delusional. But that is the way it is when you are not a fan and read the words of others who are. Fans tend to see and hear what they wish and ignore what non fans see as reality. That goes for fans of anyone, Taylor included.

  40. I would enjoy hearing Adam sing the old song, ‘A Lion Sleeps Tonight’. Or is it titled ‘In The Jungle’?

  41. I find it funny (as in strange) how some people seem to resent Taylor for not being as successful as they had hoped and expected…. While I think Taylor is doing fine with Grease, as far as his musical success goes, I’m disappointed FOR him, not IN him. CF, I don’t see being featured in a song on someone else’s album as some sort of humbling thing. Did you look at the names of the other artists being “featured” on the other songs on that CD? Some are pretty impressive.

Now the track list is not in the Wiki article any more. It might not have been set in stone yet…. the name of the first single was not even in the list. So now who knows if the song w/Taylor is even going to be on the CD? We’ll find out eventually.

  47. The names of the songs, and the artists, do NOT sound like my cuppa at all! LOL I’m not commenting on it to say it’s a good or a bad thing, I just find the whole thing intriguing and interesting. I’m curious to hear the song. I usually don’t care for hip-hop. Some rap is OK – I get tired of it really fast, like I do acoustic music. (CF, WAS your comment TIC?)

  48. OK, I see you answered. And about the tracklist, I said in the post that it was probably not set in stone and who knows if the song with Taylor will even end up on the CD?

  49. CF . . to be clear _ I did assume you were looking for a chain to yank ergo my tongue-in-cheek comment . . but it’s very possible some drop-in readers would take what you said at face value . . so – since I had one handy – I added a different perspective. 52. Oh I wish someone could bring over that video of Taylor with those girls. It was too funny to see his band and manager far away from him while he was cozied up with a table full of admiring young women. We don’t get to see him flirt much. I know Fairhope would like it.

  53. casualfan Says:

My favorite Susan Boyle song to date…very haunting and does the Rolling Stones proud.

Grammy noms are announced tonight on CBS if anyone is interested.

  55. Snowstorm Says:

Rosie, why are you so interested in Taylor’s personal life?

  56. casualfan Says:

Thanks Snow for the info. Have always enjoyed the Grammy’s. (already posted this…not sure why it didn’t show)

  57. Snow, it was a video of Taylor that wasn’t planned, which to me makes it far more interesting than the Mr. Hollywood interview that Iag devoted a third of her blog thread to. Snow have you ever noticed that there are numerous magazines displayed when you check out your groceries? Get real, woman, about life and what interests fans of celebs.

  58. Snowstorm Says:

Your facination in Taylor’s love life goes way beyond simple curiousity. Leave Taylor alone.. he’s not your son and he’s a stranger to you! Worry about your own life and your loved ones! I’m sure he doesn’t want or need help from a stranger regarding his love life!

  62. casualfan Says:

JI-I have to agree with you on Adam’s voice. He totally got into the song. He’s got the whole pkg and I am looking forward to seeing him live in concert.

  63. Oh, wow, her voice is beautiful!! Can’t wait to hear more..

Thinking now this whole rap thing is a joke of some kind. Not aimed any anyone in particular, but the track list as a whole might have been put in by someone as a joke. I thought the names of the songs looked funny.

Snow, stop pretending not to care if Taylor has a GF or not. The video is really cute. It has nothing to do with his personal life. He was at a dinner with a female musical group, and Josh is there as is his manager Paul and others. They are goofing around trying to get him to tweet for his followers to follow them. Love Taylor’s “Maybe” and “If You’re Lucky.” LOL

  64. Now THAT is the Adam I like and enjoy also JI! He is much more exciting and entertaining when he performs like that then with all the hype and theatrics IMO. I wonder if he does not have the confidence yet – he has all that theatrical background and maybe thinks he needs that to be “entertaining?” Maybe just singing is not comfortable for him yet? But he was not boring at all. Or maybe it’s just the AI people who want to make him OTT, like a male version of GaGa? I wonder which type of performing he likes better – like on the AMA or on Ellen? I prefer the Ellen 1000% more.

  65. Grey, that song is radio friendly and he did a good job. I like the lyrics and melody. I liked D. Cook on AI, but his Light On song makes me cringe when I hear it in stores when shopping. I don’t cringe when I hear Daughtry on the radio or Kelly or Carrie, and most likely will not with Adam’s songs, other than those with a screech. We all know that had Taylor had a professional video, of most any song off of his TH CD, out of the gate, and better yet in late Nov 2006, he would have sold more. Radio isn’t big on picking up any AI winner or finalist, who doesn’t have video promotion, and the backing and support of a big label. Tay had a huge win in 2006, recorded a few mainstream tracks of radio friendly ballads, and The Runaround on his first CD and went nowhere with same. His AI win had nothing to do with a single song on IYT or UTR. He won due to what he sang on AI. Likewise, his lack of success had nothing to do with the songs he recorded on his TH CD. The songs, The Distance, Nineteen, MYS and SMB, should and would be played on radio now, had things gone differently from the get go. Hicks did not sell out. Things didn’t jive with Jive.

  66. casualfan Says:

Did you listen to his interview with Ellen? He admitted to getting carried away. I think he has alot of confidence which shows along with the fact that he’s very bright and upbeat. He will fine tune himself in good time which is evident on the Ellen show. Barbara Walters made a good choice in naming him one of the most interesting people of 2009.

  67. I do want to read the lyrics though. Could not understand them. I just know I like that kind of performance better.

  68. casualfan Says:

rosie, Taylor was quirky, charming and different on American Idol and stood out from the pack. I’m not sure why his music doesn’t connect with the public but hopefully he will find his way to where he wants to go. Taylor reintroduced me back to the music and back to the classics and old school which I had lost. Adam reintroduced me back into the sparky, colorful music scene of today and I thank both of them for that. Daughtry has given me an appreciation for rock again and I thank him for that so it’s all good for me.

I’m not interested in videos of any of them with girls, guys or whoever they are with in their personal lives. I learned to not venture into that part of their world because it only leads to speculations, rumors and other things that I don’t care to know about. Respect has been lost in going down that road and I don’t care to go down it again.

  69. You know it sucks that one’s IQ, looks, voice, artistic talent and health for the most part are due to genetics. My voice squeaks in a high pitch when I just talk. Then too, I have a bit of that awful Baltimore accent. Think that is why Taylor gave me his sideways stare when I spoke before he stood in front of me. Bless Susan B. for her voice and the courage to go on England’s telly big show.

NolaMar, Thanks for posting the vid with Taylor hadn’t seen it yet. Looks like all them were having a good time!

  71. What was the girl on the twitter video saying? Taylor was gonna take her out to the bidnets? beignets? big hair????? What?????

  72. Maybe someday when the theatrical antics of overcrafted stage shows burn you out you’ll want to return to something about music that resonates with you. Something that makes you feel and hurt and want and remember. Nothing wrong with big blown out stage performances – but they don’t last. I mean really, what the hell is music for if not to let you look at your own humanity a bit through the lens of others. One guy, one girl, one guitar, one desk – it’s enough.

  73. Just knew you’d stop by Fair. I think the girl said he’d take her out with the Binets. Could that be another group there? One of the girls is the great grandaughter of Loretta Lynn and one is John Wayne’s Grandaughter. I can tell who is who by their looks. Loretta’s GGD’s name is Tayla Lynn and she goes by Tay Tay! Taylor was a bit anxious for some action, me thinks. Young bait in any City, time or place, gets a 33 yr old guy a bit distracted from business. Despite what Snow said, I enjoyed the rare glimpse into him just being a 33 yr old dude. He was a bit of a prick, basking in his fame, but funny and quick witted and the girls giggles were a bonus.

  74. Charcoal, The song that touches me most is the original, It’s A Wonderful World, which I never heard until 1991. My 2nd favorite was my ex long time husband/teen sweetheart singing Georgia to me. All the rest is just filler, static, and stats and the names of singers and songs. There are wedding and funeral marches and all the rest is just filler in our lives and background music. On out death beds we will think of people, not songs or money or treasures. But hey, nevertheless, we live and discuss all manner of shit, from politics, music, AI and the weather.

  75. jerseyirish Says:

Charcoal, That was beautiful a guy, a girl, a desk and guitar, simple but very well presented, nothing more needed.

  77. There is a time and place for a girl, a guy and a desk, but there can also be a time and place for overcrafted stage shows. I happen to like both…and whatever I feel at the moment is the kind I listen to. I love acoustic, I like some rock, some top 40, some oldies, some country. My ipod is a mess of songs…and that’s the way I like it. Keeps things interesting. 🙂

  85. Life is about living and dying and surviving and making a living in between. With that thought in mind the sponsers of Jimmy Kimmel and Rockin News Year Eve decided to persuade CBs to cancel Adam’s performaces. Some of his fans and some here enjoyed him pushing buttons of morality and Tv standards for mainstream Americans. I’m not Snow, but I bit back, I did tell you so. Pissing off people, big wigs, regular guys on the street, and behaving like you have balls aplenty to spare, when you hardly have one, is not the way to go when you became known and finished 2nd on a relality TV show. I find it ironic, that many of those who liked Taylor, as in a worshipness, got sucked into Mr. Lambert. Just hope all his fans can see thru the thick fog that surrounds him. Damn he need to find himself, wipe off the makeup and hair dye, rid himself of the props and decide if he want to be a singer.

  86. Rosie, Your post make no sense to me. I see no fog around Adam. He’s made it pretty clear on who he is. If he feels he has to apologize for his actions on the AMA’s then so be it. What the network is doing is typical politics and it will be old news by next week.

And while you are talking about pissing off big wigs and so on… Keep in mind that Hicks displayed a pompous attitude in the beginning of American Idol by challenging them and was essentially black balled in the music industry. Now that’s not something to do in the beginning of a reality show competition is it?

  87. Wow, rosie, you can be really silly but that was damned eloquent. I’m not picking sides- I’m on the fence on this one- but I wanted to tell you that was beautifully put.

  88. jerseyirish Says:

Rosie, I read about the Kimmel show cancelling him and the New Years Eve, I think the New Years Eve appearance being cancelled will be a big ouch for him. These vids that cf has put up tonight are all good his voice the way I remembered it on Idol. Didn’t like everything he did, but did enjoy most of his performances, towards the end of the season the screeching
was getting a bit much, but always felt he had talent. Don’t have a problem with the makeup its part of who he is, geez I think he does a better job with the makeup then some women I see when I am out and about.

  89. Some of you make it sound like Adam is the first one to ever do the face in the crotch thing on national TV. Here’s a performance by Pink at the Billboard awards that NEVER got censored by the FCC…..go figure.

  90. I only apologize for my spelling in my last posted comments. At my best, spelling is weak. When I hurry with my thoughts I mispell and misplace words, and leave out words. But I stand by my belief he is not the together young man, that many think he is. He has over reached in his strive for fame, like no other from AI or any new comer in the music business in my memory.

  91. ( I would have just aggravated the Lambert lovers – which is kind of fun….)

Now that is something I guess I’ll never understand . . . why is it fun ?
Is it a two way street ? . . are people who enjoy doing that more understanding and tolerant if an artist they like is the target of someone else just having fun ?

Something else that confounds me . . . why do people waste time and energy on artists they don’t like ? . . sometimes it reminds me of people who are constantly trying to “improve” those they date – or worse marry.

And that said I’m now going to say I don’t like Glen’s performance in the video Charcoal posted. 😉
First to admit it is purely subjective and suspect the title may have been a consideration . . but I like The Swell Season and think a better introduction is in order for those who may not be aware of their music so . .

  92. Since am now wandering through their videos I can’t resist posting this too.

  93. Thanks for all the Swell Season vids! I listened to the new CD a couple of weeks ago when it was on the NPR free listening page. It touched me, moved me, like a lot of music does not any more, and has been on my long music “wish list” ever since. I can’t wait to watch these vids.

I don’t want to watch Pink shove someone’s face in her crotch any more than I want to see Adam Lambert do it.

I echo Caryl’s sentiments about Rosie’s post at 10:10! Rosie, not only do I find myself agreeing with your opinions most of the time, but I’m floored by your ability to express them so eloquently at times, and more often, so humorously. I am extremely amused by your detailed observations and musings – they really are the bright spots of my day! Hurry back, you hear?

  94. casualfan Says:

  95. All the fuss over Adam’s AMA performance has got to be because of the guy-on-guy action. The video cf posted proves that. It’s not because the performance was overly sexual, it’s because it was overly GAY. That’s just wrong.

Nobody would have cared if the guy he made out with during the song had been a woman, right? So there ya go. Some people are born gay, just like some people are born left-handed. The world needs to get over it.

  96. jerseyirish Says:

Caryl, To me it doesn’t matter man/woman, woman/woman, man/man, it is a nationally televised show all age groups watch such show. I remember back when my two were little it was always a thrill for them to “stay up late” and watch such shows would I want my 8-10 yr old to see something like that. No I wouldn’t what is acceptable for adult eyes may not be acceptable for childrens eyes. I think that is the point most are missing, that kids watch these shows. He did not perform the way he did in rehearsal they did not announce that the show would have adult content in it, they were caught off guard. Time will tell if this will have an impact on his career or not, being cancelled for three shows is not a good thing.

Music appeal, for me, depends on the time, place and what your soul is seeking at any particular moment. Like Grey, I have eclectic taste in music, variety is the spice.

Sitting and listening to ‘one guy, one girl, one guitar, one desk’ all the time with would become just way too PBS for me to live everyday. But if that’s your thang folks, make it do what it do for you. 😉

This little pop tune one of my guilty pleasures lately. Look, 2 guys, 1 guitar, no desk.

Lyrics: Not earth shattering, soul shattering but paint a picture.
By the light of the moon she rubs her eyes
Sits down on the bed and starts to cry
And there’s something less about her
And I don’t know what I’m supposed to do
So I sit down and I cry too
    Don’t let her see

  98. Rob Thomas takes a lot of crap for being too pop-y, but I think he’s great. That acoustic version is just as good (better?) than the official video. It’s nice to hear a voice that sounds the same live as it does on the CD.

  99. luv 2 b entertained Says:

Cf, thanks for posting those vids of Adam…it shows how versatile he is as an artist. He can do pretty much anything with that voice. I tend to like more than just two singers and a guitar sometimes myself. Just listening to one genre is like only eating one thing for the rest of your life…can’t limit myself like that.

After reading the comments, I wanted to ask what does Adam wiping off his makeup and not dying his hair have to do with his singing ability?

Anyway, I personally find it disgusting that his performances are being cancelled and it is just pure discrimination because he is gay. He has obviously shown that he knows how to behave for different types of occasions. His Ellen performance was amazing and also appropriate for afternoon tv.

I don’t take pleasure in seeing Adam blackballed as it appears some other posters do. It bothers me because many Tay supporters have been quite upset when HE was the target of such supposed activity.

Was he not trying to organize the contestants against the producers of the show that gave him his big break? Did he not refuse to sing certain songs that were given to him? Did he not choose to not record his record during the tour like all the other idols did?? WTF? He was not an established artist with the clout to be making those kind of demands….yet he did so. But I suppose that’s just Taylor standing up for his artistic integrity and freedom of expression whereas Adam is just overreaching? Wow…

Sadly, I agree that most alternative viewpoints will be lost on Tay’s “real and biggest” fans and will only be considered bashing.

But, on this blog its nice to see that there is a bit of reason and that most don’t blindly accept what Tay does as perfection. It makes me have hope that he still has a group of “normal” fans out there….Lol

For the record, I am not here to blindly bash Taylor. Both he and Adam are very talented and as JI stated, both are paying the price for being bold, but in a different way. i am hoping they both overcome their respective backlash and succeed in this business.

Btw, cool thing to hear that taylor may be on Drake’s record. Ups his “hip” factor doesn’t it? Could be a great thing for him!

Hate I missed all the Adam talk. I find him interesting and although his performance choices on the AMA were not the best, I hope he can get past this and move on. I have to feel there is a bit of gay discrimination going on, not that the producers should not have been pissed if he veered from his rehearsal script. But Adam has gone on numerous media outlets now saying he understands his performance may have offended some and that was not his intent. I just wish people would get as fired up about violence, animal abuse, poverty whatever as everyone has gotten about an overtly sexual performance. I do think Adam is very talented and I appreciate his candidness about his sexual orientation. I do think he could be an inspiration to young people that are different, to show them that you just have to find your inner talent and express yourself. Different is not necessarily bad.
Fairhope, you sound like me- my computer was out for a couple of days and you would have thought I was denied food and water. Unfortunately these days missing a couple of days checking on Taylor news won’t require too much catching up.

  113. IAG & CF…so happy you have found an entertainer you feel the same way about that some of us feel about Taylor Hicks…We have been accused of drinking the kool aid …and whoa you guys have tasted from the well as far as Adam is concerned. How may times have you condemmed Taylor for apologizing for dropping the F bomb, ,Adam does a complete 360 on his performence now saying he went over the top and it wasn;t the thing to do…but that’s OK drink up . but please don’t indicate only Taylor’s fans are over the top… you guys have also apparently reached the summit …it’s a good thing gives you someone to really take and interest in and in a POSITIVE way. I still think is AMA performence was horrible but I do like his voice…won’t be buying his cd … but good voice

  114. Yes, Anne. I’m so glad that Taylor Hicks has fans like you. It’s fantastic.

  115. I’ve sat back and tried to think of a nice response to Anne. I keep thinking…why is it that if you’re a Taylor Hicks fan, you can only like him? He’s it. There are no other singers. God forbid if you say something good about someone else. It’s just amazing to me.

This post was supposed to be about Adam. Period. I didn’t bring Taylor Hicks into this post, nor did I really want Taylor Hicks in this post. Comparing Taylor and Adam is like comparing apple and oranges. Both fruits, but totally different kinds.

What is really drinking the koolaid is pretending that Taylor is the be all end all. I’ve never said that about Adam. There are plenty of great singers out there.

Here’s the thing the Soul Patrol needs to realize. The fucking competition is over. Let’s move on.

  116. mamaforpeace Says:

I think Anne had a point. She wasn’t saying TH is the only good singer, she was pointing out a double standard about the aplology thing. Myself, I like all sorts of singers, even some (shhh! don’t tell anyone) more than Taylor. And I agree, Taylor and Adam are totally different. But I think what they have in common is that they both apologized b/c they felt they may have alienated some fans too soon in their career.

  117. taylorfan06 Says:

Not a huge fan of Adam’s but I wish him much success. The song I really like on his cd is Track 5, “Soaked”. A cool song with an amazing vocal and melody that is the standout for me.

I doubt it will be a single, but this is the type of song I envisioned for Adam. Not so silly or poppy like much of the songs are. That song is a keeper!

  118. casualfan Says:

Anne-I could post an entire journal of thoughts right now in response to your “double standards” claim but to be honest I don’t give a flying fuck what you think of me. I will only say that when it comes to double standards-the Soul Patrol has written the book on what those standards are and has become a mockery and laughing stock at every water cooler in the music industry.

  119. casualfan Says:

  120. IAG, that is several times now that you’ve claimed TH fans don’t listen to any other artists. Who? I guess there might be some somewhere, but not me, and none that post on this blog that I know of.

If you don’t want Taylor brought into a certain discussion you might want to state that at the start. On the Will Hoge page you brought Taylor into it yourself by saying he would never do what WH did. Now on the Adam post you say you didn’t want Taylor talked about. (BTW it was YKW who first mentions Taylor on this page.)

  123. hicksfan7 Says:

mfp – that is what I took away from Anne’s post also – the double standard being about the apology given by both Tay and Adam in regard to offending fans unintentionally.

  124. I have to say it really struck me also, that Adam is not being condemned for his back track on the AMA performance. I guess he has not exactly said those two words, “I’m Sorry,” so maybe it does not count as an official apology.

  125. casualfan Says:

As it’s been said many times before…..No one is right, No one is wrong…it’s only a matter of opinion.

Grey-Thanks for allowing me to have my “girly-girl” moment with Adam. It was a reminder that whatever my age…I can still have fun. 😉

  126. casualfan Says:

    Oh I forgot…..he’s HAWT!!!!!!!!!!

  127. IAG..boy who the hell pissed in your ocrn flakes…for God sake all I said was that it was strange that TH was damned for apoligizing for the F bomb…which he was…The double standards on here are ridiculous finding fault is only allowed if it is fault with Taylor Hicks ..others are stangely off limits. My musical tastes are not only Taylor they are long and deep I don’t like rap and I’m not crazy about some rock, but it seems when I don’t agree with some here it’s because I don’t know music and only like Taylor….I have said before I like Adam’s voice just fine don’t like his screaming at the end of each song and I wouldn’t go out and but his cd…so shoot me. I think his performance on Ellen was good ..his performance on the AMA’s were disgusting.

Okay – so I watched the first Adam video at the top – didn’t HATE IT, BUT – I just don’t like the way his voice sounds when he gets to the ‘big’ parts of the songs – sounds like screechy screaming to me. Hurts my ears. Guess I prefer ‘growling’ /anything deeper for those ‘big’ emotional parts of the songs. And I don’t like ‘dark and pervy’ either -= LOL, and not a fan of the Club Scene…so that all doesn’t apply for me.

cf – “I’m not sure why his music doesn’t connect with the public” – maybe it’s because the public doesn’t get to hear much of it…? just a thought.

About Tay being a part of that CD – first it cracked me up that Justin Timberlake was also one of those listed for one of the songs – hahha remember all that JT fuss back in the day! But if this is true, and this is a legitimate list of the songs on the CD – I don’t see the Tay song getting cut – I mean – come on – who cuts DAVID FOSTER?

  130. taylorfan06 Says:

cf – thanks for the “soaked” posts. I knew Adam was a Muse fan, but didn’t know they gave this song to Adam. I think he definitely did them proud.

  134. blueberry Says:

I wonder what it says about me that I’m fascinated by the course this topic has taken. Not the Adam thing, some days I like him, some days not – just depends on my mood, but he is talented, just might not always be my thing. And that is okay. Maybe part of my interest is my fear that the creator of this blog will say “enough” and I really don’t want that to happen because 1) I really do like Taylor Hicks and there is usually stuff about him here and 2) I really appreciate the contributions about other musicians about whom I would have absolutely no knowledge of had it not been for this site. Priceless stuff…

On the down side, if anyone is asking, is the predictable comments about age, knowledge etc. Maybe because I just celebrated a birthday this week that I think makes me “middle-age” (not sure exactly what that age is) I just might be overly sensitive and tired of these comments, but, on the positive side, it is pretty obvious when and from whom these comments will come! I have to restrain myself from wanting to defend my age by listing my attributes! I have come to the conclusion the author of those comments must be having a very bad day – then I don’t post. Why make their day worse…
Two other quick points from the previous topic: I am one who will buy WATW if and when it becomes available.
I do not care what 98 percent of the population is buying or knows about
(in terms of music). If I like something, I will like it, no matter what the masses think. I guess with age comes free will and confidence in your own choices!

One last thing – I am not now, nor have I ever been in love, infatuated with, or whatever it is called, with Taylor Hicks. I just enjoy his music very much.

  135. Anne, not that I think IAG nor CF need me to defend them but c’mon you sound like a bit of an ass in your remark:

“IAG & CF …so happy you have found an entertainer you feel the same way about that some of us feel about Taylor Hicks…We have been accused of drinking the kool aid …and whoa you guys have tasted from the well as far as Adam is concerned.”

You’re jumping to the kool-aide comment just because they said they liked the guy. Neither said they did not like Mr Hicks just they appreciated Adam. That’s what has drawn the ire, the snarky comments etc… the written appreciation for another Idol not Taylor.

That’s why IAG said what she did about so many of the avid Hicks’ fans seeming to not be into other artists; the talk has to be centric Hicks or there’s negative assumptions made.

Too I’ve read several times the past few days comments from Henry8 and a few who are seemingly indignant this blog is not only about Taylor because of its name and the photo at the top.

Also, whenever another artist brought up here you and others start in on some oddly misplaced sense for a need to defend Hicks or go on a trantrum that HE’s being compared to anyone else. Or because some of us like say, Foy Vance too or Adam we’re somehow insulting Taylor.

    It’s nutty.

  137. Who has the words to “Soaked”?

Let’s see…. Adam had a network and their sponsors threatening to cancel his appearances and canceling some of them— so he gave an apology.

Taylor had 21 bible bangers on a small blog angry at him for saying the F word- and he gave an apology.

Am i the only one that sees the difference here?

  139. casualfan Says:

LOL! Never heard the term “bible banger” before…LOL! That capped off my good day with a laugh-THANKS!

    “Soaked” Adam Lambert/Muse
    Soaked to the bone
    And sink like a stone
    Walk home alone
    It’s not the first time
    It’s not the worst crime
    Your soul will be OK

When you’ve had enough searching for love
    And you miss the touch
    Of someone new

    Burned by your dreams
    It’s never how it seems
    Cold crushed esteem

    Take shelter and hide forever
    Your soul will be OK

    When you’ve had enough
    Searching for love
    But you miss the touch
    Of someone new

    I’ve had enough
    Searching for love
    But I miss the touch
    Of someone new

    Soaked to the bone
    Sink like a stone
    I will take you home
    It’s not the first time
    It’s not the worst crime
    Our souls will be OK

    =============================================
For me at least-the fact that he could piss off networks and sponsors verses 21 bible bangers in the first place is a huge difference. They may be canceling some of his performances but others are picking him up and he’s now got the attention of the national organization GLADD behind him. He’s getting himself out there with interviews, photo ops and whatever else. He’s on people’s radar and he will be watched which exposes him and his musical talent on an even wider range. As Taylor has said more than once…PR is PR-good or bad, it’s when they stop talking that you should worry.

One can always pull a positive from a negative situation if one looks.

    ***Disclaimer Notice***
My post is NOT intended to be a comparison and is simply a response to another poster’s comment. 😉

  142. casualfan Says:

That would be GLAAD not GLADD

  143. jerseyirish Says:

I think both saw their words/actions offended folks and stepped forward to try and makes amends, in both cases I have more respect for both of them for doing so. Its not always easy to step forward and admit to a mistake of judgement.

  144. NotYourGrandma Says:

Only I don’t see how saying the F word when you’re not in preschool anymore is a mistake of judgement.

  145. You’re jumping to the kool-aide comment just because they said they liked the guy. Neither said they did not like Mr Hicks just they appreciated Adam. That’s what has drawn the ire, the snarky comments etc… the written appreciation for another Idol not Taylor.

    ===============================================
I have ,along with others on here been accused of drinking the koolaid because of our appreciation of TH….as I have said before it seems that ONLY TH fans are critized and ridiculed . I have NEVER seen or heard TH fans be upset at the mention of other singers..there is a whole world of incredible voices out there..I don’t expect Taylor to be the only on discussed at all…all I said was that Adam did a 360 when he felt people were offended by his performance and admitted he went to far and was a little over the top.(his words) and he did the right thing by doing so….when Taylor apoligized for the F bomb because he felt his words offended people he was raked over the coals and critized for selling out. And to me weither it is a network or 21 bible bangers doesn”t matter …really ,,,are those 21 everday people any less important then those with the big bucks. I would hope that most people wouldn’t think so.

  146. Sunny, not indignant that this blog isn’t about Taylor, more indignant that it is, given how the author feels about his body of work and how he conducts his business.
Perhaps the comparisons start from the person at the top.

    quote-“Now This is a Video”
Did someone say it wasn’t a video? Someones else video is not a video?

quote-Its silly to limit ourselves to one artist. We might be surprised what we would find if we didn’t?

    Like anyone does?

Take a look back , many a blog is written as if it is meant to shed light on why Taylor doesn’t do it that way. And thats where the comparison starts.

  147. LOL! As if on cue…..

  148. The fucking competition is over so let’s move on? Have you informed the media about this? They are the ones that keep this kind of crap going. I kind of think AI loves it too.

  149. Another cool artist

  150. “….as I have said before it seems that ONLY TH fans are criticized and ridiculed.”

This is exactly what I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve debated posting this all day, and I’m finally going to do it with a little encouragement from my friend of the night. (Merlot)

    Dear IAG,

When I started posting on this blog about 7 months ago I thought it was a fan site for TH. Now you say it is not a TH fan site, but a Music Blog, and that’s fine. But it’s all become kind of confusing. It seems that one day it is OK to praise TH and the next day it’s not. One day you are posting fabulous videos of Taylor’s performances, and the next he is being torn to shreds. Then you put up another artist and say “if only Taylor would be like this one” and then you put up another artist and get upset if anyone compares that artist to Taylor.

It had gotten to where I could just ignore the baiting, digs & criticism about Taylor, & just try to enjoy the music discussion and differing opinions. But lately I don’t find it fun here any more. I’m sorry to say that, but I just feel it has become a place where a few of the regular posters’ seem bent on baiting TH fans & stirring up contention. Or, more often lately, his more enthusiastic fans will be made fun of for enjoying a particular photo, video or interview he did.

It’s Taylor’s picture at the top of the page, but his fans are often made fun of or disparaged and he is continually bashed. I know you often say criticism is not the same thing as bashing, and that is true, but that line is very often crossed here. WAY crossed. Perhaps that is subjective, but that is MHO and I believe that of many others fans too. I’m not a “pie in the sky” fan, but I think I would rather that than what often goes on here. I know Taylor is not perfect but I don’t see the point in continually tearing him apart even if I don’t agree with everything he says or does. This place, while fun before, is now taking all the fun and joy out of being an online TH fan. I now see more clearly what happened to TH’s fan base and it makes me feel really bad for him. (And you question why he doesn’t “let his fans in?” Ha! I’m surprised he meets with us in public at all.)

Maybe you should make it clear what you want this blog to be. If “enthusiastic” Taylor fans are not welcome, so be it. Just say it so they know. If they are, then I hope you won’t tolerate them being bashed & mocked anymore. If you only want to discuss the particular artist you are blogging about, then say that so the TH fans won’t clutter up the page with talk about HIM. If you want this to be a general “music blog” then maybe you might want to change the name of it and the picture at the top so TH fans don’t mistake it for a TH fan site, like I did. Those are only suggestions. It is, of course, your blog. I’m sure I won’t be missed by many if I don’t come back, but I would rather have fun… the bickering is really a downer. That is what is is now – bickering – not discussion.

My skin is not thick enough for the recurring insults, and I refuse to be baited any more. I won’t walk away from being a Taylor Hicks fan or of supporting him, just this site, the way it is now.

  151. Seriously iag, that video is an example of what you mean by “being true to the music”? Acting out the lyric maybe, being true to the music? , I just don’t see it. And I’m not sure AL has any idea of who he really is…he may be clear about his sexuality(or not) , but does he know who he really is? I’m not so sure. I always have the impression that he is acting out a role, wearing a costume, it all seems like a show. The clothes, the make-up, the over the top performance….artifice not art. A costume and a mask.

  152. mamaforpeace Says:

Nola, I agree that it has become somewhat confusing what IAG wants this blog to be about. I enjoy many of the posters (even those whom I may find a bit annoying once in a while), and I enjoy the music discussions and postings about other artists. But I, like you, thought this was a TH blog… the name, the picture, a lot of the posts when I first started reading… it all seemed pretty clear. I really liked it because I felt you did not have to be an over the top fan, that you didn’t have to love everything Taylor, and that the discussions could be about other artists as well! It seemed like a pretty sane place where different opinions were encouraged. But if this is not the case anymore, if the only opinions of Taylor that are respected are the negative ones, then it may not be what some of us are looking for. I would find this sad, but it’s your home IAG, and your decision what you want it to be. I’ll hang around for a while and see what happens. I don’t feel insulted (as I said once before it isn’t a matter important enough to get worked up about), but I am definitely confused.

  153. mamaforpeace Says:

Want to talk about pushing buttons??? Remember this one:

  154. mamaforpeace Says:

Now to me THIS is a real music video. Go figure!

    I APPLAUD YOU NOLAMAR!!!!!!!!!

Many have gone by the wayside here primarily by what is so brilliantly stated in the above letter. I know that I don’t enjoy posting here much anymore myself.

Long story short, I’ll continue to support and be a fan of the VERY talented Taylor Reuben Hicks. (as well as many, many other artist whose careers I have never followed on line but love just as much.)

  156. casualfan Says:

Perhaps it’s time for this so called Taylor basher to leave this blog once and for all. I left once before but came back because I really like this blog. But God forbid do I want to continue being responsible for all the dedicated fans of Taylor Hicks to stop posting here and enjoying this blog.

Some of y’all have the art of intimidation, bullying and threats down to a science. These are all typical traits of the Soul Patrol.

  157. NotYourGrandma Says:

Oh Gawd. If you’re so bent out of shape over a topic of a blog and whether or not people are insulting or praising Taylor Hicks – all things which are completely irrelevant – you need to find something else to do.

Here’s the reality – he’s kind of LUCKY to have a blog that talks about him at all. Good or bad. His music career is in a complete disaster zone and Grease is a low tier play and not impressive in the least. He doesn’t have many fans and there’s very little buzz about him at all. It’s like he’s disappeared. While his peers are singing at the AMA’s he’s singing in a mall in Jacksonville Florida. Yet you complain that the blog isn’t kind enough to him- or the blogger isn’t nice enough and really needs to make up her mind on what her blog is about? How about it doesn’t matter. If she’s talking about him AT ALL on this blog you should be thrilled. At least if gives the impression of interest.

Anne, not that I think IAG nor CF need me to defend them but c’mon you sound like a bit of an ass in your remark:

These are the kind of remarks that are made when one makes a positive post about Taylor Hicks. These remarks are tottally unnessary and meant to insite a negetive reaction. IMO.

NolaMar…you said so eloguently what a lot of MUSIC lovers feel. We appreciate the different videos but the “competition” seems to be started with the if only TH did it this way. I don’t think it is a competion of music just some mutual respect for their abilities.

  160. Is there any doubt in anybodies mind that The Soul Patrol is exactly like The Claymates?

The public looks at you as crazy, OTT, middle-aged women with no lives and you shoulder some of the blame for his lack of popularity. Think about it, nobody wants to join a club of crazy, obsessed, women, especially younger women.

Face the facts, Taylor Hicks has made mistakes, with both his image and his music and your denial of these facts and constantly defending him, makes you look stupid and delusional.

  161. Snowstorm says:

    ————————————————————————————-

Wow. You must be right – you’ve said this enough. Thanks for enlightening us.

  162. They say it isn’t good for one’s mental or physical health to keep anger and sadness inside. Iag, YKW. CF, NYG and a few others who post here from time to time, seem to be angry with Taylor and enjoy informing others what they think he is doing wrong. They call it being “real” about him and his career, and state the rest of his fans drink kool aide. It just might be that they are sad he hasn’t achieved more success in music and choose to blame him. We, so called Kool Aide fans, are also sad about that, but we don’t choose to pick him apart or blame him, ridicule his videos or music, business decisions or manner. Those who are angry with Taylor or diappointed in him, should post a list of their complaints and get it out of their system once and for all. It gets real old reading their gripes in drips and drabble, on almost every thread, as well as reading they think this one, or that one, does it so much better. I know YKW started it on this Adam thread and the prior one and I have no clue why.

  163. OMG, I left out Snowstorm as a complainer!

  164. Rosie and others, if you don’t like it, what are you doing here?

Go to the sites where everything is rainbows, puppy dogs and unicorns. 🙂

Surely there are TH sites on the interwebs where you can gush and swoon to your hearts extent. That’s what I don’t get, what are you people doing here that do not like this type of discussion?

  165. I think NolaMar’s comment is valid. We were once a pretty interesting and “happy” community here at iag. It was fun. But the tone has changed. I’m not attacking anybody, OK? I like iag (the blogger). She’s smart and funny. But…..

There’s this underlying anger towards Taylor that seeps through in the blog posts and in some of the comments. The fact that Taylor’s music isn’t on the radio or that he had to turn to musical theater in order to keep working doesn’t make me angry. It makes me sad. Those of you who are MAD at him need to ask yourselves why. None of us need to know the answer to that question, but maybe you can take a deep breath and leave the guy alone.

  166. SS – amazing – you are spot-on correct as usual! I not only LOOK stupid and delusional, I AM stupid and delusional I enjoy coming here not only to hear what is wrong with Taylor, but also what is wong with ME! Wooo!
Happy Holidays, may the generous spirit of giving insults continue!

  167. Look it, ALL Idol fans are a bit crazy, so don’t get all bent out of shape.

Look at the Glamberts, there are some REAL loons in that fanbase. OMG, some of them are even worse than the Soul Patrol.. in fact, they might very well be former soul patrollers. The difference is that Glamboy has lots of younger fans to balance it out. If Glamboy does nothing with his music, the younger ones leave and he’s stuck with the crazy old ladies!

  168. Snowstorm Says:

And, don’t forget Idol comes back next month, so there’s a whole new batch of hawt young men to swoon over! Go for it! 🙂

  169. mamaforpeace Says:

SS, I can only speak for myself of course, but I am here because I do enjoy so many of the posters and topics on this blog. It’s only when things get out of balance, and people who say the least positive thing about TH are jumped on that I think it gets out of hand. I don’t enjoy other blogs as much b/c it’s the other way around… all Taylor, all the time, and watch out if you are the least bit critical. Snow, I am sorry to say, you are the one person who gets on my nerves a bit because you keep saying the same thing over and over again, and that doesn’t bring much to the discussion. But others, Cf and Nola especially, I think it would be a shame if you left. CF, don’t feel you are the one that’s being singled out… there are many others in your camp. I am in your camp sometimes! I don’t like the whole Grease thing for example (and please, let’s not go over the pros and cons again. Been there, done that… a lot!). OK, people, let’s all take a big breath. This is only a music blog, this is only Taylor Hicks. We are not discussing how to achieve world peace here. But maybe we could just move on and be respectful of each others.

  170. […] music and Taylor Hicks related blog, It’s All Grey. The site owner starts a rather innocuous post about a certain admiration she has for another reality show contestant from American Idol, Adam […]
