  1. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAME OVER!

  2. Goodbye Adam.

  3. HORRIBLE !!!!!

  4. I don’t care what anyone says Siegfried has never been the same since Roy was eaten by that tiger.

  5. Was it the homosexual kiss that grossed you out? What was it? What don’t you like?

  6. I like a good boy on boy scene as much as the next sexually unambiguous but liberal leaning straight guy. It was the “music” that grossed me out.

  7. Oh, this is great…

    from Rolling Stone
    http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/11/23/full-frontal-glambgasm-rob-sheffield-on-adam-lamberts-amas/

…he was smart to go for spectacle rather than subtlety on an occasion like this. And when he took an apparently unplanned tumble halfway through the performance, he just kept moving without missing a note, like the trooper he is. Good Lord, it was filthy, not to mention one of the most awesomely outrageous rock & roll moments to show up on prime-time network TV lately. It’s already hard to remember what the world was like before Adam Lambert showed up, less than a year ago — but we can be sure it was a colder, drearier, and less pervy place, and moments like this epitomize why we’re glad to have this lady-stardust guy in our lives. Don’t trip off his glitz, America!

  8. Charcoal, I respect your musical opinions. While Adam’s music isn’t at the top of my love list, I don’t mind it. There is a place for it in today’s scene. But I loved the shock and awe that he handed out last night. It’s enough to catch people off guard and make them think.

But the drama over it is ridiculous. It’s just a performance. I mean really, in my opinion, Lady Gaga’s act was pretty weird. But, it’s just a performance. That’s all.

  9. mamaforpeace Says:

Ihaven’t watched the video yet, but charcoal, you crack me up!!!

  10. jerseyirish Says:

The video wouldn’t play says its disabled because of copyright things. Didn’t see the awards show, but what most said to me at work today, felt he was a little over the edge totally turned off by his performance. Four of them said they were going to buy his CD but after seeing that they won’t. I hadn’t planned on buying his CD because I only really liked a few of his performances and knew that type of music would not be on his CD. Wish him well and a sucessful career! 🙂

  11. Just so everyone knows….when I said “Game Over” I didn’t mean it in a negative way. I thought it was awesome and I commend him for taking a stand and being himself with his creativity and yes…even shock value. Him flipping everyone off at the end was classic! He’s saying “the hell with what everyone thinks…I’m doing this MY WAY”. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

I think Adam is going to be great in his nitch and that performance was just the beginning.

    That’s “ENTERTAINMENT”! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

  12. “I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren’t really for everybody either,” he continued.

    http://omg.yahoo.com/news/adam-lambert-on-amas-censored-performance-thats-discrimination/31666?nc

  13. Artistic freedom could be having real sex on stage or acting out his lyrics “work til your totally blown”. Wait he just about did that. This was not cable tv and many teens stay up to 11 to watch the AMAs. The other Idols, Kelly, Carrie and Chris all can sing better than Adam and seem to have not just talent but class. He looked and sounded bad but created a huge buzz, although it may be the buzz of killer bees. I saw it live, do not think he fell and have watched the vids 3 times in order to form my own opinion. One could say lots of the hip hop stars are going for artistic freedom. Eminem was bleeped all over the place. I could sit and write some really filty lyrics and so could most of you. I can make dirty words and deeds rhyme. We could all grab our crotches, pretend to whip someone and kiss and grab a girl or guy and screech. We could all then claim we are the entertainment. Hell, public stone throwing used to be live entertainment for some, so perhaps some would find entertainment today watching real time executions of prisoners.

  14. Ehh ew. Lol.

  15. As many have said on this blog many times before….Music is subjective and we each have our own likes and dislikes. As Adam said in the article I posted here-his music isn’t for everybody. If you don’t like it….turn it off and don’t listen to it.

Adam is honest in who he is as an artist and I respect him for that. I also feel that he’s one of the most honest AND talented contestant that AI ever had on their show.

  16. CF, I read the link you gave after I posted. My opinion is Adam is taking AI fame , fan and media hype a bit too far. He is comparing himself to past successful singers and acts and is tending to admonish his critics. If he enjoys being the shock queen and wants success, perhaps he should shut up and just do his thing and let the chips fall where they may. He needs to understand most of the criticism of his performance has nothing to do with gay or straight. Neither does most of the kudoos.

  17. Well, at least he didn’t thank his audience for letting him be himself, and then turn around and apologize for who he is or what he performs.

  18. Rosie, Then he has to learn that now doesn’t he? He’s no different than the Madonna’s, Lady GaGa’s, Brittany Spears of the music world. Shock value has been around for ages…Look at Kiss-in their time they were considered way over the top with their outragous outfits and attitudes. Yet they made millions and became Icons. I’m not saying that Lambert will become a rock legend, but he’s his own person and proud of it.

YKW-I completely agree with you. Adam is what you see is what you get and I love that about him.

  19. PurpleButterflies Says:

The raunchy stuff didn’t bother me. I get a kick out of Lady Gaga so it wasn’t the risque factor that I didn’t care for. Though I don’t think prime time network tv is the appropriate place for such displays. I didn’t care for the song. The first couple of bars were great. He showed what he can do with his voice. After that, the song went downhill. I was hoping that Adam would sound more “Freddie Mercury-ish.” Of course there will never be another Freddie Mercury, but Adam did have a somewhat similar sound. I don’t know what the rest of the CD sounds like, but if it is anything like his single, it’s not something I would buy.

  20. YKW, You are no longer a Hicks fan, and lets be real from the little I’ve read from you are now a Taylor Hicks critic. There is nothing wrong with that. Your above at least post, with regards to your commenting about one of Tay’s concert comments and so called apology made Zero sense to me. Guess I’m naive about what Tay apologized for. Why bother to compare Hicks to Lambert? Critics will judge Adam three years from now, differently than the present and so willl his fans. I’m not dissing Adam, just saying I do not see a superstar, a great voice or performer, shock can be lame, and I do tend to view him as a more messed up person than just about all of the past succesful AI winners and contestants. He could be super successful money and fame wise. Do not buy into the what you see is what you get thing. JMO, but I think Adam will not only be apologizing and blaming others publicaly 3 years from now, but will attempt to reinvent himself.

  21. PurpleButterflies Says:

Rosie, I have to agree with your 6:07 comment. I wish the man well, but he needs to cut out the tude before he does himself in.

  22. jerseyirish Says:

Rosie, Couldn’t agree with you more. I think he is trying for too much too quickly and bascially setting himself up for a let down. Folks enjoyed his displays on Idol they were with class, but if he continues to do things that networks feel they have to edit as you said they edited his performance before it was aired on the West Coast then he needs to be concerned and rethink things. Did they edit Lady Gaga’s performance was hers over the top?

    JI

  23. I think Adam went way over the top. ..the whole thing was a train wreck for a music award night…it was more about shock and who could be the baddest ass and little about music . If you want to have sex stay home and have a blast…if you want to perform music ..get up there and give it your all, but please pick the time and place for both. One belongs in the bedroom and one belongs on stage.

  24. mamaforpeace Says:

Now I can’t see the video. Damn! As far as Adam wanting to be his own person, keeping his artistic integrity, being compared to some of the greats of past time… Let me see! Where did I hear this before???

  25. PurpleButterflies Says:

Jersey, I don’t think hers was edited. Her attire, or lack thereof, left little to the imagination, but she did behave herself.

  26. jerseyirish Says:

PurpleButterflies, Thanks for letting me know. Wanted to watch the show, but had to help hubby with a project last night. As soon as we got done the football game went on. 😦

YKW, You are no longer a Hicks fan, and lets be real from the little I’ve read from you are now a Taylor Hicks critic.
    ============================================
Here it goes…as usual people are making assumptions on things they know nothing about. Calling YKW or anyone else a non-Hicks fan according to your standards is not cool. You don’t know where YKW or myself for that matter is coming from.

If someone doesn’t fit into the criteria of what exactly is a Hicks fan they are chastised for it. This is why I no longer care to be part of the Hicks community. Thanks for reminding me of just that Rosie.

  28. Thanks CF for calling out the people who are making assumptions. YKW and other non rabid fans have made this site so enjoyable. I just wish I could be here more often.. I love you CF, YKW, et al… keep on keepin on!!

  29. Good music is good MUSIC. To me that means musicians playing real instruments and singing live on stage. It means melodies and lyrics that speak of life, loss and love, not murder, rape and raunch. It does not mean OTT props and dancers, or simulated sex or auto tune or lip-synching. It does not need “shock and awe” or spectacle. It’s no wonder that the music business is in such a freefall. It has become a cesspool of crap songs (and I use that term very loosely) and crap performers.

I rarely listen to what is popular music today and even more rarely watch programs such as the AMA’s – which have become an exercise in who can shock the viewers the most, not who can sing and perform their MUSIC the best. The few video clips from the AMA’s that I tried to watch today only reaffirmed my opinion of the sorry state of popular music.

Thankfully, true musicians still exist. Most of them are not heard on the radio or seen on the TV screens. They are not the talk of the entertainment magazines or of the gossip sites. But for those of us who search them out, they still record and they still perform real, good music. They are the true artists, and I give thanks for them.

JMO, of course. (Oh, and as a nod to Charcoal, for the record, I’m a left-leaning moderate.)

  30. littlewing Says:

I like FYE but don’t think Adam sounded his best last night. He tweeted to Perez Hilton that the sound was off…but it was more than that I think (like maybe nerves, or perhaps too much choreography threw him off his game.). It amazes me that I’ve read comments from some so-called fans who have now sworn off buying the new album because of the AMAs…I mean sure it was OTT, but what did they expect? He’s been pretty upfront about being fearless and pushing boundaries. I really fail to see how the stuff Adam did is somehow any worse than the Eminem/Fiddy performance…hell the words were X-rated and so many bleeps totally runied the song.

I must say the best song of the night for me was Timbaland with Nelly Furtado and SoShy doing his new single Morning After. That shit was off the chain and he has a rich and deep voice. Loved the goth overtones. Totally buying this!

  31. Momo, I love you too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s get together and make love in the bedroom, or….. on the kitchen table, the backyard hammock, on the washer during the spin cycle, or the back 40 of the Wal*Mart parking lot on Black Friday! Whooooooo hooooooooo!! Of course, SOME people just want us to keep it in the appropriate places, just so their delicate sensibilites won’t be offended. Ah, the sadness.

As for my reference in the above post, why don’t you ask your hero Charcoal? I’m referring to the time when Taylor decided to publicly apologize on the Gray Charles’ blog for his colorful language when the pearl clutching fans swooned over his gutter mouth. Shocking!!

It means melodies and lyrics that speak of life, loss and love, not murder, rape and raunch.
Okay, so I guess we’re just not listening to TayTay’s lyrics such as “.. I pushed the groom out of the car and made love to the bride… ” Oh my gosh, and that’s not in the bedroom, either!!!!!! :O

  33. CF and YKW, Hope you get the fact what I post is just my opinion. Should you two decide to never ever type a single word about him, I declare myself blame free…… I’m PURE!

As long as it is not on stage or on my TV ..go ahead have a blast ..I just don’t care to watch thanks

  36. “I don’t care what anyone says Siegfried has never been the same since Roy was eaten by that tiger.”

BAWWWW. I ALMOST RUINED MY KEYBOARD WITH POP. LOL. I enjoyed Adam on AI but his singing was not good on this song. It reminded me more of some Off Broadway acting number than a vocal performance. He may have been being true to himself as some of you say but to me it came across as contrived.

  37. hicksaholic Says:

I have mixed emotions on Adam’s performance last night. I am concerned about the kids watching but the reality is they are probably very knowledgable about what was portrayed.

I like Adam, think he is very talented and am willing to adopt a wait and see attitude. The music is the important thing. All the rest is just the hype associated with trying to get the attention. It appears Adam wins on getting the attention(whether it is good or not I’m not sure)

  38. Three years ago, Tay presented on the AMA’s. Three years ago, Tay was the AI winner for season 5 and had hype. He looked so good presenting or announcing The BlacK Eyed Peas as winners. For those who liked him then, and have since decided to pick him apart on any level, you were lame ass fans from the get go.

  39. It helps to be able to tell honesty from contrived.
Adam was shocking in the same way a seven year old is shocking when hes trying to gross out his parents. And of course the other kids love it and think its soooo cool .
I have not been able to get the fuss over Adam , he just seems like a child trying to get attention and freak everyone out to me. I am not freaked out and neither am I impressed. I see no real caring about music. But whatever floats your boat. I think he needs to grow up or hes going to flame out real fast. JMO

  40. Rosie,
For those who liked him then, and have since decided to pick him apart on any level, you were lame ass fans from the get go.

    ===============================================
Taylor dropping the F bomb was his shining moment. I actually gained respect for Hicks when he did that. He was keeping it real. His mistake was in apologizing.

  43. CF– Young people drop the F-bomb all the time without even thinking about it. Why would you even see that as any kind of “Shining” moment? The F word has no more meaning today than Shit or Damn did for the previous generation. Cussing is Keeping it real? I guess I missed something? Or maybe my Dad was a lot more COOL than I thought.

  44. NotYourGrandma Says:

“I think he needs to grow up or hes going to flame out real fast. JMO”

Is that the reason for Taylor flaming out real fast? At least Lambert is himself. He’s not pretending to be this flamboyant gay guy- he is this flamboyant gay guy.

  45. So . . . it appears that Taylorland is all abuzz with talk about Adam Lambert.

That says it all, doesn’t it?

  46. Amen, Soulaz. Amen.

I don’t think Casualfan thought the word Fuck was Taylor’s shining moment. IMO, that’s probably how this bar singer actually talks. It was in that moment that Taylor was being himself, and some of his fans ripped him apart for that. Instead of remaining true to himself, and saying…like Adam did…if I offended you, then maybe I’m not for you, he apologized…in essence renouncing his true self. That’s when the loss of respect started.

  47. Exactly Grey! Thanks for explaining that…obviously the msg was lost in translation. 😉

  48. Didn’t Charcoal explain that to you once? Brick walls are brick walls aren’t they? Only loss of respect came from a few immature goofballs.
The most important thing Taylor ever did was say fuck?
Adam is brave because he loves to shock? Then so is every 10 year old.
    Good grief. 🙄

  49. Great little blurb from Adam…I adore this man more and more.

    http://ow.ly/FdAG

  50. I LOVE these Great Danes

  51. Henry, the most important thing Taylor could have done was stay true to the music.

I’m not going to fight with you about how, why or how much respect I do or don’t have for Taylor, or how much anyone else has for him for that matter. It really doesn’t matter what I say…you’ll find something wrong.

What I will say is that instead of being out there…promoting his music…he’s riding around in a cone…and doing this:

Woo. Meanwhile, Adam Lambert, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler are performing at music award shows. Whatever.

  52. When Taylor apologized for saying the “F” word, what he did was hand over his balls to puritan, God-fearing, judgmental old hags! Worst mistake of his career! Instead he should have said, “this is who I am, take it or leave it”.

Rosie, what the hell is wrong with you? Why should anybody talk about Hicks? What the hell has he done in music since AI? He’s done NOTHING! He’s on the same career path as Reuben Studdard. His gray hair and handsome face has gotten him absolutely no where. He’s a middle-aged woman’s dreamboat and I’m starting to believe his actual musical talent is very limited.

As far as Adam Lambert… he’s a genius. Look how everybody is talking about him. This is how you drum up interest which can translate into record sales beyond the Idol audience. This is who he is… he is in your face and edgy. He doesn’t make up excuses and apologize to those that were offended.

  53. minus the old hag comments-I applaud your post SS. You hit it right on the head. Adam knew exactly what he was doing and it worked. He’s trending on Twitter and has been since the award show. Kuddos to Lambert for having the courage to be his own man!

  54. jerseyirish Says:

Just my two cents on the F bomb. Did I feel he needed to appologize for saying it no I didn’t but seems he must have been raised the way I was and how I have raised my kids. If something you do or say is offensive you appologize for the behavior. Case in point my son a couple months back was in Walmart had alot stuff in his hands something fell he said “mother F—er” picked up what dropped then immediatley said “Oops that slipped I’m sorry” one woman was so offended she went and got the manager and wanted my son removed from the store, funny he said she was late 20’s early 30’s so much for old church hags theory. Some people young or old are offended by certain words/pharses thats the reality of it.

    JI

  55. JI-The reality of it is T is a BAR singer. The only reason he apologized was because he saw the meat of his fanbase upset over what he had said. How he was raised had nothing to do with it.

  56. Wow, I don’t know where to begin.

Taylor is floating around in cones and lighting Christmas trees because he was never given a showcase like Lambert’s AMA performance to launch his real world music career. He was never given TV specials, Soundstage shows, or so much as even a proper music video like Kelly, Carrie or Daughtry. He never received a dime’s worth of support from the music industry or radio. If he had been given these opportunities, I’ll bet the farm that he wouldn’t have choked like Lambert did. And I might add it would be quite a trick for Taylor Hicks to appear on the AMAs, as he would have been the only indie artist to be found on that show, which is basically a major label advertisement for black Friday.

Adam is undeniably talented, but he was a professional Broadway performer amongst a group of amateurs, so of course he’s going to look good in comparison. But I’ll tell you, you can walk down Broadway and trip over all kinds of people that are just as talented as Adam. In the real world of Broadway, he was a touring understudy, not a Broadway lead. The amount of preferential treatment and hype he has received have been a definite turnoff for me.

If people want to condemn Taylor Hicks for apologizing to a group of fans and turn around and praise Adam Lambert for deliberately offending the same type of people, go right ahead. Personally, I would rather see him apologize to a group who is supporting him than to kowtow to another group who fills entire blogs on their perpetual disappointment in him.

SS, every artist is musically limited. Taylor can’t remember lyrics and isn’t the best guitar player , but he can write songs and play the hell out of the harp. Are you going to say Lambert is limited because he isn’t a musician or songwriter? Both can sing their faces off, that really should be enough?

What I see is Taylor Hicks being ignored after he assembles Eric Clapton’s touring band for his record, while Adam Lambert hits media critical mass for shoving some dude’s face in his crotch. Whatever floats your boat.

  57. jerseyirish Says:

cf, Totally don’t agree with that, he saw that his words offended folks and new the right thing to do was applogize. My son is a bar musician too and saw that saying what he did offened and said sorry. An elderly couple in back of him patted him on the back and said too bad you had to applogize for being yourself, but you did the right thing. He was more embarrased by the woman’s reaction even though he said sorry. Doesn’t matter who you are what your standing is no one is above applogizing for offensive behavior, I believe Presidents have sent out applogies for things they have sad or done, its just common courtesy.

    JI

  58. Jenni Jac, didn’t you ask yourself why he wasn’t given those opportunities that Adam and others have gotten? It’s really very simple. It’s because his music sucks! Do you understand what supply and demand is? HE IS NOT IN DEMAND!

Everything else didn’t matter. His looks don’t matter, his harp playing don’t matter, his band don’t matter, his performing skills don’t matter, his dancing don’t matter, the good guy crap don’t matter, his personality don’t matter, his charm don’t matter, his voice don’t matter… HIS SONGS ARE CRAP.. and that’s what matters!

    Plain and simple!

  59. JI-Respectfully, your opinion comes from experiences with other people. Not all people have the same standards. I’m not going to debate on this…someone always seems to think they know better.

  60. SS-LOL! You are a colorful character indeed.

  61. cf, you gotta tell it like it is and his fans don’t understand. The crap his fans harp upon day in and day out don’t matter. His music was crap and the majority don’t like and don’t want.

  62. Jenni Jac I’m glad you came over to try to straighten out these guys. I agree with everything you posted. BTW, I’m Tyme on the BB.

  63. Oh, please try and straighten us out some more. Is that going to make Taylor’s career better?

  64. Damn, didn’t get to see it and now I can’t find it. One link I found took me to itunes where I could conveniently buy Adam’s CD. Hmmmm……..

btw, of course Taylor had to apologize for the f-word. He’s said ten thousand times that he loves the fact that AI attracts viewers from 8 to 80. I think he forgot for the moment that those people were following him after AI. His audience had changed. He had to clean it up. Though personally I liked hearing that he said it (it made him less corn-ball in my mind), it was just good business.

  65. Yay, I found a video of Adam’s song! I’m sure it’ll be gone in a minute. I don’t know what the big deal is. It looked SO choreographed, like he was thinking, “OK, I sing that line and then I mash this guy’s face into my crotch and then I go here and move my hips around a little while I sing another line…”

Maybe I’m not explaining myself well, but it looked more theatrical than sexual to me. *shrug* It didn’t shock or offend me. The song was fine, his singing is fine, but I won’t be buying his music. Not my thang.

Now, I’m gonna go find Kris Allen’s performance from the AMA’s!

What’s that? He didn’t perform? Are you sure? He won AI, didn’t he? Hm…what is this reminding me of? No, no, don’t tell me, it’ll come to me……

  66. Not all people have the same standards.

Maybe they would if people didn.t accept the crap Adam Lambert handed over as entertainment. If the shock value is what they need to sell record they can have it. And just to point out Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the night…hell of the year and I didn’t see her shove one head in her crotch…Go figure

    In Snowstorm’s VERY limited opinion

  68. No, it’s a fact. He is NOT in demand anywhere, except for tree-lighting ceremories and he has AI to thank for even getting that much.

Are you honestly going to challenge me? Laughable!

  69. Maybe I’m not explaining myself well, but it looked more theatrical than sexual to me. *shrug* It didn’t shock or offend me.
    ============================================
Caryl, It was theatrical and very well choreographed.

  70. Caryl, you are so funny and you manage to not get all caught up in our arguing. Snow, you were being honest for the first time by showing your disdain for Tay and his music. Iag and CF would like to Build A Taylor, just like one can Build A Bear. My opinion is Adam did not sing his best the other night and blew his chance of being heard by some non AI viewers. AI has been a family oriented show and now they have produced a singer who has had his GMA appearance cancelled. Who knows what he might do for shock value on any show? The FCC got a lot of complaints about his performance. Anne, good point about Taylor Swift. IAG, what did you object to in Jenni Jacs post?

Rosie, Perhaps it’s time you stopped your contrived “opinions” regarding on how others feel on this blog. This is not the first post you’ve made assuming that we want something or know something and it’s getting old.

If your posts are being deleted off the BB and other blogs that should be telling you something.

  73. CF it was a little joke. You, Grey and others do tend to say Tay should do this or that like so and so singer. Haha, On the other thread you said I have never been deleted on this blog and now you are implying I’m the queen of deletions. Trust me my deleted posts here were just for mentioning someone’s name as a joke and for asking someone a question. On the BB I was offensive once, guess I forgot which blog I was on. Old ladies who enjoy crap music, tend to be forgetful.

  74. SS, if you think Taylor’s “The Right Place” is crap while “For Your Entertainment” is high art worthy of a closing spot on the AMAs, I won’t argue. Enjoyment of music is subjective. I happen to think Taylor has some pretty great music out there. The main thing that limits a mainstream appreciation thus “demand” of Taylor’s music is that it is out of style, the young record buying audience of today has no foundation to appreciate songs like “Battlefield” and SMB . That is of course if they ever even get to hear them at all.

Taylor’s career is what it is and no amount of praise or complaint or “what-if’s” from fans will change that. At 33, his future is not in pop music, but it is in stage performances. He’ll probably continue to do well on the music side with casino and small club or theater concerts . That is where most every ex-idol is headed anyway, the only difference is how long it takes them to level out after the record company loses interest.

  75. Jenni jac, do you understand that Taylor is a niche artist? That means his music does not have widespread appeal. His AI fans certainly gave him a chance with his post-Idol cd.. other than die-hards who stuck with him, most of them have abandoned him because most of them didn’t like what he did. Those are the facts. He set himself up as a Soul singer, but instead of getting Modern Soul (Robin Thicke), we got a cd of time-warped 80’s tunes that sounded like he ripped off Ray Charles (who btw, his music was not popular at the time of his death).

The problem with being a niche artist is that your potential audience is too small to achieve an acceptable level of success. Hey, if wants to continue on this path, that’s up to him, but at some point, money becomes an issue and not getting gigs becomes an issue. He either has to compromise and change his direction in music or abandon it completely and focus on an acting career, which really might be his strength afterall.

I just wish his fans would face reality. You don’t do him any favors. You need to accept the fact that his music is not commercial and the 80’s are not coming back and neither is Ray Charles.

  76. rosie, when I said that I didn’t know that your posts had been deleted until Grey made her post. I also didn’t say or imply that you are the queen of anything.

I think all of us are getting a little stir crazy because of the holidays upon us and perhaps taking things way too personally. At least I’m a bit on edge in part because a close friend of mine lost her partner of 25 years due to cancer this Sunday so I’m a bit bummed. She was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and poof-she’s gone….puts alot of things into perspective doesn’t it.

  77. CF, I know I’m on edge and the weather has been damp and raining for days. I’ve been reading the posts on MJ’s about Adam and he has caused quite the stir. Barbara Walters is interviewing him as one of the most fascinating people of 09. My heart aches for Taylor who 3 yrs ago was on top of the world. When he sang at Rockefeller Center he had a huge band backing him up and he did so well. So it was sad to see the vids of him at Jacksonville. I do get upset when peeps blame him for not being more successful and say his music is crap. Sorry about your friend. Cancer sucks.

  78. Are you honestly going to challenge me? Laughable

    ————————————————————————————-
Wouldn”t bother your opinion is insignificant to me.

  79. ===”Jenni jac, do you understand that Taylor is a niche artist?”===

Totally…that’s why I’m not here chastising him for not having a Carrie Underwood level career.

===”The problem with being a niche artist is that your potential audience is too small to achieve an acceptable level of success.”===

    Acceptable to who?

  80. I understand the weather thing. Our nights are cold with our days warm. My allergies are horrible this time of year and with my immune system being down, I get sick very easily. Thank you for your kind words about my friend. I never met her partner but spoke with her on the phone often. I was shell shocked in hearing about the cancer and how fast she went down. Back in 94 I had cancer but survived it so I am one of the lucky ones. Now I’m battling something else that is life threatening. I think it’s in the water myself.

Re Taylor…My heart doesn’t ache for Taylor because he is in a better place than he was before Idol. I may be over critical at times about Taylor but I have never denied the fact that he’s one hell of a live performer-hopefully we will see more of those performances in 2010.

  81. Acceptable to who?

Are you kidding me? Do you have any clue how difficult a career in music is? How is he going to eat and pay bills if he’s not making any money with music? Thank God, for the Grease gig!

He’s not getting very many venue gigs, is he? A venue will not book you if you can’t bring in people. No wonder he’s always posting the few gigs he says… he wants people to get on planes to come see him. Without them, he won’t be able to get any kind of crowd to come to his shows!

  82. I doubt T has to ever worry about money. I’ve heard that he’s a miser and knows how to stretch his pennies. A wise trait to have in this economy.

  83. Let’s hope he invested his AI money well and he doesn’t have a home, so he must stay with good old Mom and Dad.

But, doesn’t he take lots of expensive vacations?

  84. Rumor has it that he’s quite savvy in that department. Vacations make for good tax write offs. 😉

  85. mamaforpeace Says:

CF, I’ve heard about the ABC thing, and indeed, shame on them!

  86. mamaforpeace Says:

SS, Ray Charles is a legend and he influenced music in ways that will last way beyond many popular artists today. May I remind you that Genius Loves Company won best album of the year at the Grammy’s? Your view of music seems to be limited to how financially successful it is. Who rocks your boat musically SS? Not just b/c it made tons of money. I’d love to know, really.

  87. Ray Charles is a legand in the same category as Elvis and The Beatles, however, he was not commercial at the time of his death.

My taste in music are eclectic. I like new, modern music as well as classics. I like mostly R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Alternative, Country Pop and Modern Jazz. I listen to the beat and lyrics. If one of these components is missing, I dismiss the song.

  88. “If you don’t like it….turn it off and don’t listen to it.” Thank you, I will….and I won’t buy it either.

I don’t care how “honest” Adam Lambert is. I honestly don’t like raunchy music acts. (Please, how silly to compare WDB lyrics to simulated oral sex on TV.) Everyone has different levels of what they find acceptable to them. I find Adam’s behavior to be tasteless, and just like on AI, it distracts from what I think is an probably awesome talent. I wish he would devote his energy to developing and improving that talent instead of working so hard to shock everyone and made sure the whole world knows what he’s all about.

“Of course, SOME people just want us to keep it in the appropriate places, just so their delicate sensibilities won’t be offended. Ah, the sadness.” Oh, this is such hypocrisy! You mock people who don’t have the same “sensibilities” as you. LOL Your all for tolerating OTT raunchiness, but then have no tolerance of people who don’t find simulated oral sex entertaining or something they want to watch on a music awards show.

Thank you Meg, you said what I’m unable to express very well:

“Good music is good MUSIC. It has become a cesspool of crap songs (and I use that term very loosely) and crap performers.”

I watched four very talented musicians sing & play their hearts out Sunday night for a handful of people in a bar in deserted downtown Birmingham. I’ll take THEIR music over the multi-million selling “musical acts” like GaGa, Britney, or Adam’s kind of “entertainment” any day of the year. It’s so sad who gets the attention and who struggles to survive in the music business.

  89. NolaMar, you are not in GaGa, Britney, or Adam’s demographic. So, if you don’t like it, I doubt they are losing any sleep over it. For one person who doesn’t like it, there are 10 who do.

Your kids (or maybe grandkids) are probably digging it (and buying it).

  90. Wow, talk about totally missing my point SS! Oh, well.. (BTW, I have 6 kids aged 17 – 31 and not one of them like any of them. But my 17 year old does like Taylor Swift.)

  91. Damn, wish we could edit! I meant not one of them likes any of those artists you mentioned. But of COURSE plenty of people do. You think I don’t know that? LOL

  92. How do you know? I’m assuming they don’t live with you.

  93. Haha!! Believe me, I know…

  94. jerseyirish Says:

My kids don’t like any of those artists either, they have told me, think they are more hype than talent. Neither of mine are mainstream music lovers don’t listen to the radio they buy or download what they like to listen to.

    JI

  95. You are probably around my Mom’s age and she would say the same thing you are saying… that I don’t like Lady Gaga. But I do like her and have downloaded her music. Not a big Brittney fan, but I have liked some of her tunes as well.

kids don’t tall their parents anything.. trust me.

  96. Snow, there are many Adam fans who did not approve of his performance the other night. He gave the finger at the end to his critics. He is trying to be too big too fast and may piss off others in the music business. He should concentrate on his singing and tone down his act and quit saying in almost every interview that he is sexual or he may become a joke.

  97. jerseyirish Says:

snow, I hear their music they don’t listen to any of those artists. My son’s band practices here 3 times a week, I am keenly aware of the type of music they like. Gaga and Brittney never appealed to me. Wnen I go to a show I want to hear good music, not see a side show. A truely talented person can peform their music and captivate an audience without the hype, if they aren’t really talented they need the hype to get the attention. Thats just my opinion, doesn’t matter how old or young one is the music has to appeal to them to take interest in it.

    JI

  98. rosie, it was all attention seeking and he achieved his goal. He got people’s attention from outside of the AI bubble. Good for him! Unlike Taylor, Adam knows who he is musically. He has everything going for him. An appearance on Letterman is the big time.

Music has always been sexual in different degrees. Hasn’t Taylor bumped and grinded on stage… what do you think that is?

  99. Gaga and Brittney are not supposed to appeal to middle-age women.

  100. I hated Lady Gaga at first, but I have to admit I’m fascinated by her now. I just saw a commercial (or something- I wasn’t really paying attention) which showed her dancing erratically (NOT erotically! haha) and for some reason it reminded me of Michael Jackson, the way he invented dance moves, etc…I found myself thinking, “She may be a genius.”

I know, I know, my good buddies reading that just groaned. LOL! That’s OK, we don’t have to agree on everything.

  101. OK, whose the impostor posting as Caryl?? 😉

  102. jerseyirish Says:

Caryl, Thats great you can see more in Gaga and her performances.

  103. “Not all people have the same standards.” CF, You said this, but you seem to be the one who does not comprehend or respect this!!

Excellent post Jenni Jac. Thank you.

  104. haha! NolaMar!

Jersey, diplomatic as ever! You’re very sweet.

I know, the three of us are boring. We’ll stop now.

  105. How and why does Taylor get dragged into a discussion about Adam??

Adam Lambert, I love his voice and his personality, and his “this is who I am … take it or leave it” attitude. His part on the AMA’s should have been better . His management let him down and an opportunity (while not lost) was not used to his best advantage (again this is only my opinion)

Lady Gaga: she is quickly becoming my favorite crazy bitch!

and since Taylor was already mentioned here I will do so as well….

Taylor Hicks: I love his music (well, most of it), his energy and being a fan is a hell of a lot of fun for me. I no longer give a fuck ( I used that word on purpose) what anyone else thinks, I long ago outgrew the need to fit into a group, crowd, or demographic and only attempt to please myself now-a-days. One of the perks of being older and wiser!!! lol

Well said Snow. All of the do-gooders who claim to be offended by Lambert’s stage antics don’t have a problem reading and writing fanfic, pornfic, slashfic and anything else about Taylor Hicks and his ass. Sites have been dedicated specifically to his groin, chat rooms have been X Rated, Chat goers on ning.com got their hands slapped by managment for talking about Taylor in an inappropriate way not long ago.

But then again, it’s the exception to the rule because it’s Taylor Hicks’s balls being discussed so that’s acceptable. (rolls eyes)

How and why does Taylor get dragged into a discussion about Adam??

Because no matter what artist I bring up on this blog, apparently some people feel the need to bring Taylor up. When I do posts like this, it’s to talk about something other than Taylor. However, it never seems to work out that way.

  109. And since Taylor has already been discussed….this is an excellent point.

  110. Totally missed Adam giving the finger!
Either nerves or excitement but Adam seemed short of breath or something…………..I hate “that note” btw…..which he only uses a time or two in the recorded single but kept on screeeetching it in his live performance…………I totally dug the drop & roll, tho.
and what’s the fuss about? Is he gay or something?
    ROFL
Cool that he got the pimp spot at the AMA’s …. must’ve cost the record company lots of payola! LOL (that is a joke, btw).

I missed Eminems duet, was channel hopping back & forth.

TOTALLY LOVED the duet “New York” with Alicia Keys & Jay Z.
Alicia Keys is so talented……….ditto Jay Z.

  111. IAG, with all due respect, no one on this Thread was mentioning Hicks until YKW on Nov. 23rd 6:10 pm. threw in a Hicks dig. Also on your most recent thread about Hoge, you brought up Taylor right in your blog post. So Legacy raised a good question. The so called rabid Taylor fans are not the first to bring him up on threads about other artists. It is instead those who tend to wish to Build A Taylor and mold him and take bits and pieces of other singers talents or personality and make comparisons to Taylor. We all had been discussing Adam’s AMA performance before YKW made her statement. Then Snow and others jumped in as well as myself. I’m glad we don’t have strict rules on your blog and most of us get along most of the time.

  112. Funny, Rosie…I don’t see Hicks name anywhere in that post by YKW.

  113. “But then again, it’s the exception to the rule because it’s Taylor Hick’s balls being discussed so that’s acceptable.” Who ever discussed Taylor’s balls!!! I’ve never read or written any porn or other fiction about Taylor. You make it sound as if it is rampant. Whatever, it has nothing to do with how either artists performs on stage.

  114. Grey, If she was atempting her hand at a riddle, she needs to write more difficult ones to solve. lol

  115. jerseyirish Says:

Rosie, The only fan fic I ever saw was on Idletard didn’t interest me in the least. Have never seen or been involved in any porn talk of Taylor or anyone else, just not my thing. As far as the ning site didn’t see that either. Guess it must be more underground than in the open.

    ————————————————————————————-

All of the do-gooders who talk about Taylor and his ass don’t do on stage where there are millions of people …some of whom are going to be offended..ther is a world of difference between discuss on a Taylor blog and the horrible performance Adam chose to start his career with.
Adam did not go on that stage to entertain anyone ….he got on that stage to SHOCK….he wanted to please no one but himself. The music was not a consideration at all. I am no prude but I was disgisted. I like Adam on AI (not crazy about the screeching) but when he left that out and just sang his voice was great, but there are a lot of great voices out there , but respect for your audience should also be a factor this is not an “it’s all about me” venture. Lady Gaga is the same I absolutely love her voice but the theatrics turn me off…I just want to hear good singing…the rest of it I can see elsewhere if I’m so inclined. The male kissing thing is not a big deal(unnessary ,but not a big deal) The oral sex simulation and the bondage thing were disturbing to me .

  117. “All of the do-gooders who talk about Taylor and his ass don’t do on stage where there are millions of people”

No, they just do it on the internet where millions and millions of people can read crap from delusional and psychotic AI fans.

What about Dancing With The Stars.. the women are half naked and I’ve seen dance moves that looked like sex to me, but that’s OK, right?

    edited by IAG

  118. edited by IAG. SS, You’ve said many times Tay has few fans left and that no one is talking about Taylor. Now you’ve just stated there may be millions and millions of people who wish to track down all thing Taylor on the net. For those who don’t get the difference between some fans of any AI contestant reading or writing porn fiction on locked blogs, and the performance of any Idol contestant on nationwide TV., well what can I say. Some peeps in the world don’t enjoy suggestive performances and some do. There is no need to call any of those peeps names or force one’s opinion down anyone’s throat. I agree with the many who feel Adam’s voice was not very good at the AMA’s and he may have wanted to get as much shock value as possible. What in the heck does Taylor Hicks have to do with Adam Lambert? Perhaps some still want to write the program for every step of Tay’s career since he won AI. I just wasn’t asked to write the program for Tay’s career.

  119. I don’t understand why I wasn’t offended by Adam’s performance, but I wasn’t. I’ve seen worse. In front of the stage at a TH show, for instance. (Ha! Just made myself LOL for real!)

    Everybody needs to lighten up.

  120. Rosie, as usual you don’t know what you’re talking about. Idletard posted lots of Tay slash and porn. Thousands of people read that crap for the first time. First time I read it too. I certainly didn’t go seeking that shit.

As far as Anne goes, I’m just calling a spade a spade.

  121. SS, If you believe that I don’t know what I’m talking about then perhaps you shouldn’t even bother responding. That is how I react to 85% of your posts. Easy Button on Ignore! I read Idletard for over a year, but guess I missed the “lots of Tay slash and porn”. See you down sized your estimate from millions to thousands, so I guess old Rosie made some sense to you.

  122. Caryl, I do try to keep it light. I hope you and everyone else who posts here has a great Thanksgiving. PS, don’t tell but I did engage in a bit of gazing and commentary in RHS’s back room.

  123. Rosie, trust me, you have never made any sense to me.

You do realize this is the world-wide web, where millions of people, from all over the world, can read. Do you understand that Ro Ro?

  124. Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

  125. Rosie, I wasn’t talking to you. I’m really glad you’re not afraid to speak your mind. I wonder how many people are reading right now who never post a comment because…well, I don’t know why. But someone has to show the other side of the argument. I’m glad you’ve got the…wait for it…here it comes…BALLS…to give it. ( Am I obsessed with rosie’s balls? hmm…)

And now I must go finish my shopping for my least favorite holiday. Don’t get me started.

  126. Snow, keep your unqualified opinions about others to yourself, please. I’ve edited some comments…

    ==========================================
    BINGO!

  129. I have no issues with the sexual aspect of this performance. My issue is that Lambert was given an unprecedented showcase to launch his career while multiple AMA nominees Zac Brown band and Kings Of Leon sat in the audience. And what did he do with that opportunity? He strayed from what was rehearsed and approved by the network, sang badly (that closing screech could have opened garage doors across the country), and then he gave his critics the finger afterwards. That’s not going to win over his peers in the audience. That makes me curious as to how many artists went on record to praise or defend him afterwards.

The most professional part of the whole spectacle was the tuck and roll recovery after he tripped up the stairs. In terms of similar performance, Lady GaGa wiped the floor with him. Furthermore the song itself did not sounded more showtune than contemporary pop music .

Adam Lambert is Simon Fuller’s foray into shock rock lite. Perhaps a little Rocky Horror Picture Show thrown in for good measure. It’s nothing genius or revolutionary. From Alice Cooper to Madonna to Marilyn Manson, I’ve seen it all before.

  130. Jenni-where did you read that he strayed from what was rehearsed? The entire performance looked very well rehearsed and IMO was choreographed extremely well.

I don’t see where this will will hurt his career. As you yourself said of the Madonna’s, Alice Coopers and so on….all of these people have made very successful careers out of shock value.

And the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” is a cult classic that has earned it’s rightful place in movie history.

  131. Ok, I found the article where he admits to getting carried away. Wonderful article and I love the way he carries himself in interviews. His voice is always clear and he doesn’t stutter at responses. Good job Adam!

Whatever you said about me SS I missed ..it was edited before I read it ,but like I said before your opinion of me. music, Taylor Hicks or the “older generation” if insignifiant to me. You really are more to be pitied !!!

    Oh and by the way I’m not a spade..I’m definately a DIAMOND..sweetie

  133. Jenni Jac, once again I agree with all you posted. My post which NotYour Grandma quoted, was all about Adam and had zero to do with Mr. Hicks or comparing anyone. However, due to my words, I think she thought I meant Adam could upset music execs. Not so, my opinion is his trying to over reach for attention and world wide fame, and comparing himself to seasoned performers could well upset other singers, artists and performers in the pop or hip hop world. Not a good move IMO. It would be like Ms Underwood talking and behaving like she was the greatest thing since Patsy Cline. It would be like Kelly boasting she was the best undiscovered voice and talent ever. It would be like Daughtry saying fuck you any existing rock band, I’m the best and then having he and his band push all the buttons of decency. Lay back and wait for due acclaim from your peers. I have no clue to how those in the music business behave or react to one another. So I’m just going by common curtesy and figuring out one’s place in the world and life. All of the past succesful artists did it by bit by bit and most who lasted had a good voice. A gimmack only goes so far. Cf, someone’s granny, Snow and others tend to believe any Tay fan is just nutty, confused, and jealous of any other singer’s success especialy those who came thru AI. For whatever reasons, they do not see themselves as being the ones who compare other singers to Taylor. They post about loons, the rabid, old ladies, puritans, the naive and delusional when discussing fans who enjoy Taylor as a singer, musician. person, Grease star and business person. They so enjoy giving their opins of what he did wrong then and what he does wrong now, down to correcting his speech patterns. But I have chosen to read and somewhat respect their ideas, while interjecting my opinions. Ps I’ve always thought the true sign of a great singer and person is someone who does not stutter. Well Mel Tilles, sounded fine. Ya really gotta watch out for anyone who says (you know) more than once in 4 sentances. Rumor has it they can’t sing or perform and you need to be leery of them. Doncha just love those artists who admit to being carried away! Same for all the passion crime murderers. I feel an urge to go shoplift some cosmetics before the stores close.

    JI

  135. JI-I know I read that myself and I posted an article above where he said that too. 😉

  136. Rosie as usual you amuse me. You fall into the pit every time and work yourself into a froth over banter and what some of us deem as entertainment and sheer boredom. None of it means anything in the grand scheme of things.

  137. Did he really fall or was it on purpose? And the person he kissed looked female to me. Am I wrong?

  138. CF, I do need help getting out of the pit. You have about two years on me posting. Don’t know how you, Grey and everyone else lasted this long. What should be just fun and amusement and back and forth banter is not rocket science. Most of all I wonder how IAG does it. I know she has a different opinion on many topics than many of her posters, but for the most part she just lets it ride. Trust me I do not feel ballsy at all, although I’ve begun to search for lumps there. In so many ways I’m glad I was not around posting and reading from the get go. But just jumping in and posting and seeing the reactions to what I posted was also a bit of a shock.

  139. Fairhope, The latest is he tripped over someone and did a tuck and roll. I’ve also read his bass player he kissed was a guy. But hey, Adam looks female to me, so I’m no gender expert. lol

  140. Nah, fairhope, it was a dude. But I don’t see what the fuss is all about.

  141. I’m with you, Caryl…

Personally I don’t see one thing wrong with apologizing for offending someone.
SS – how do you know WHY Tay apologized?

    and in regards to this:
“Everything else didn’t matter. YOU don’t matter. JMHO of course.
(go ahead, I am prepared to be edited)

  143. None of that crap mattered and you know it. Most of his songs suck.

Nobody likes Taylor. What other proof do you want?

I did think there were some nice moments. Whitney Houston emotional performance, the wonderful duet by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z, and I really liked Kelley Clarkson. The rest mostly looked like a big over produced Broadway show to me (just MO, of course!). As far as Adam, I felt a bit sorry for him. I think he’s been pushed too hard, just so not ready for prime time yet! I’m sure the fall didn’t help. As far as all the hoopla about the kiss and all, I just couldn’t see what was so different about what he did and what some of the other performers did. Much ado about nothing.
SS, thank you for answering my question about what music you like… (way up thread) you seems to have very varied taste. I would have liked to know who you listen to. Who’s on your iPod at this time? Just curious since you have very strong opinions about what makes an artist successful.

  148. hicksaholic Says:

    caryl,
I’m with you too. Wasn’t really a big deal to me either. I was a little surprised but it didn’t look that different that what a lot of female performers have been doing for years. I will agree it definitely was not his best vocal. I imagine the fall and nerves accounted for that. I think Adam will be fine. I do admire his attitude that if you are offended he may not be for you. And he did finally say he was sorry if children were watching, but he mentioned earlier risque performances at the same time. I would imagine he is thinking to himself that any kid over 11 knows what a blow job is and a sex on sex kiss.
Adam is extremely well spoken in an interview. He is apparently very bright and/or very comfortable speaking in public.
As I posted somewhere else, I find Adam interesting and will be watching for his live televised performances. I will save my money to go see Taylor perform and buy Taylor’s cds.

  149. hicksaholic Says:

Plus I do believe a lot of the AMA performance was to quickly move past his AI past.

  150. hicksfan7:

Thanks for the LOL moment at 10:53 yesterday. It just hit me right, I guess.

  151. Random thought: Just to get Taylor’s name back in the papers, I think he should start dating Kate Goslin.

    LOL!

  152. In honor of this thread, how ’bout Jon Goslin?

  153. Adam is extremely well spoken in an interview. He is apparently very bright and/or very comfortable speaking in public.

This is one of the many things I also enjoy about Adam. He is obviously very bright, well spoken and very interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing where he goes on this journey.

Caryl, haha!!! That is a good one! 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, enjoy! 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving to all:)

  156. Happy Thanksgiving to all too!

  157. hey anytime Meg – and I am with you – thankful for the true artists/musicians!
Caryl – glad I stopped in for some Thanksgiving Day LAUGHS! HAHHAH

  158. Kate and Taylor DO have one thing in common- people focus a lot on their hair!

Interesting…..what exactly is the definition of a TRUE musician?

  160. hey cf – Happy Thanksgiving! And since you decided to ‘go fishing’ this evening I will have to take your bait and just say TRUE musicians are only those that I LIKE! Bwaaahaaaahaaa

or – I could use a phrase Meg used earlier in this thread –
“Good music is good MUSIC. To me that means musicians playing real instruments and singing live on stage. It means melodies and lyrics that speak of life, loss and love”

yeah – they hear it, they feel it, they write it, they play it, they LIVE it…etc etc.

  161. HF7-Sorry, I don’t get the going fishing part-but ok.

It’s good to see you say all of the above because you are describing ALL musicians, ALL song writers, ALL entertainers. Every word, every note, every melody that every musician performs is an extension of who they are. Each one of us has different musical tastes but they all have the same basic ingrediants. Each artist puts their own spices in the dish to make each one unique but the basics are all there. 😉

    Thanks for answering my question.

  162. “What Do You Want From Me”…..Great song! =)

  163. If only he had done that on the AMA’s instead of that debacle on Sunday night.

  164. I think Adam accomplished exactly what he wanted to accomplish. He may have gotten a little over excited but he’s no dummy.

  165. mamaforpeace Says:

Thanks for posting that video, CF. I really like the first song, but even though I didn’t care for the the second song, I still found it enjoyable to watch him perform. And you’re right.. he is no dummy. Just like the fall he took on stage, which he managed to cover up so it wasn’t a total disaster, I think he’ll recover from that bad performance at the AMA (I’m talking about his singing, not anything else).

  166. I don’t think Adam’s AMA performance appealed to those in the theater that night, and I do mean both his singing and everything else. I think he cheapened himself, music, art and American Idol and many of those who voted for him. I wonder what his parents think and if they take the view some of you seem to take that attention equals fame and smarts.

  167. Rosie, In the video I posted of him on The Early Show his mom was there and they had a short interview with her. She was asked that question and she answered that even though she was a bit “taken back” by his performance, she supports him all the way. From what I’ve read about his mom, she’s very supportive of him and is active in helping him with his career. She strikes me as a “hip” kind of mom who is also very savvy and bright.

  168. mamaforpeace Says:

Way back when, rock and roll was considered the devil’s music. Presley’s hip grinding was shocking. Parents were up in arms over what all this would do to their kids… some of the same kids who now as adults worry about what the world is coming to now. I am not trying to excuse or justify anything. Just making an observation. But honestly, I do worry more about the next generation when I think about the environment, the economy, the wars… than about Adam Lambert.

  169. I agree Rosie ,,,I don’t see how attention especiallly this type and pissing off ABC is very smart at all.

  170. Another random thought: If the name of the game is ‘getting attention,’ maybe Taylor doesn’t need to date Kate Goslin. Maybe he just needs the hairdo:

  171. jerseyirish Says:

Caryl, You are too much , now that is funny!!! 😆

    JI

  172. Well, now I’m feeling kind of bad for that last photo. Taylor shouldn’t have to compromise who he is just to get attention. Here, I changed it knowing he would want it that way:

  173. OMG, If Adam Lambert saw either of those smiling pics of Tay with the do, he’d go for him. What a difference a hair style and color makes. I want to see one with very dark brown hair as in Tay pre gray.

  174. mamaforpeace Says:

Taylor makes a really good looking blonde! And Caryl, thanks for the laugh:)

  175. jerseyirish Says:

Caryl, :l0l: 😆 😆 That just made me laugh!!

    JI

  176. The AMA’s are a crock anyway, as are most awards shows. Just bullshit to hype that time slot and create revenue and yes, boost sales for the featured performers. Controversial performers bring viewers, which is the key to promote profits; simple math.

Rose it’s sounding like you’re possibly spending too my ‘Tyme’ on the BB, love.

This has been an amusing way to spend my coffee time and procrastinate on doing what I need be doing this morning.

The ceaseless issue of ‘real’ music and ‘real’ artists never fails to entertain. You all realize their is no win to that argument, surely. Many people would call all this rubbish, since they consider real music to be classically driven and written by Beethoven and Mozart… It’s all in the personal preference.

Regarding pissing off ABC, Anne, why you make it sound like THAT is the foible of the century. Who gives a flying fuck if ABC is pissed off anyway? Woo. I think it shows a narrow minded view their cancelling him and stupid on the network’s part.

To wrap this, Mr. Hicks should never ever go Emo and never ever do blonde. lol ( nice cropping, Caryl )

  177. My ususal typing finesse: *Rose it’s sounding like you’re possibly spending too my ‘Tyme’ on the BB, love.

Rose it’s sounding like you’re possibly spending too much ‘Tyme’ on the BB, love.

I swear I had oxygen deprivation at birth. *eyeroll*

  178. Where you been, Sunny?

  179. Living life, Caryl. Living life. 😛

I’m on Twitter a little while everyday almost, though. You can catch me on there, but my stream is large now so to get me, put “@” and my twitter name in any messages out, sometimes the only way I know who all is on or has been on any given day. (or DM)

Regarding real life, our band’s got 5 gigs starting next weekend through New Years so busy with that; loads of practice; too work has been brutal. Some of us have to actually work for a living. 😉

We’re actually getting paid these days, ha, so we’re joking now we’ve gone pro. Pub seems to be wanting us to commit to 2 nights a month but negotiating with all concerned at this point to see if feasible.

We even did a DVD last show, (the Dallas SPCA Dog Day event) I need put some of that footage up soon as I figure out how/take time to figure out how. lol

I’m around just not hanging exclusively with the Taylor Hicks scene anymore.

Did a new post today on The Damien Cripps Band met them on Twitter.

  180. Regarding pissing off ABC, Anne, why you make it sound like THAT is the foible of the century. Who gives a flying fuck if ABC is pissed off anyway? Woo. I think it shows a narrow minded view their cancelling him and stupid on the network’s part.

    ————————————————————————————-
Sunny…I don’t care if he pissed off ABC or not…he obviously didn’t either. What I am saying is you don’t start your career pissing off Big networks. You said it was narrow minded of them to cancel him…Well he basicly said (with his finger) fuck you I did what I wanted to do.. take or leave it …they left it ..that was their perogative.

  181. ABC will get over it and Adam’s career is just fine.

  182. Sunny – re: “The ceaseless issue of ‘real’ music and ‘real’ artists never fails to entertain. You all realize their is no win to that argument, surely. Many people would call all this rubbish, since they consider real music to be classically driven and written by Beethoven and Mozart… It’s all in the personal preference. ”

I was under the impression that that was what we were doing here – expressing our personal preferences. (as opposed to attempting to win an argument)

  183. What Adam did on the AMA’s was an example of his performances pre AI. Some fans liked the AI Adam and don’t get he is still the same guy he was before AI. Some of his fans are OTT, in that they post vids of him singing when someone says they don’t care for his singing. Most are still predicting he will be huge. All of this reminds me of fans of Taylor at that point in time of his career. No one can force someone to enjoy the voice or performance of any singer.

  184. Well in expressing personal preferences hicksfan7 oftentimes it sounds as if one chiding the other because they may not like the same things. Comments like ‘I don’t like his/her sound, I like real music such as so and so’ not uncommon… just saying. Express all you want, man, I will too. As you wrote, this is an open expression forum.

I’m weary of my Idol’s better than your Idol that is so prevalent in any discussion that pops up regarding Hicks, et al. Reminds me of this:

  185. Just caught this tweet from gLambert: “ellen:airing 2m.Singing ‘whatya want from me’! AMA performance was a one time event. Goin in a new direction now. Focus back on the music.”

Seems the suits are getting to him… boo.

  186. The screen shot of that video looks a bit disturbing.

  187. I like “What Do You Want From Me”-Pink wrote that tune.

Look forward to seeing him on Ellen.

  188. I guess that’s “Whataya Want from Me”

  189. CF it’s the Ken L ration commercial, My Dog’s better…. lol

  190. Question: Is a male dog without his balls better than one with everything intact?

  191. LOL! I like the dog that is scooping up his own poop. But that first ss is still disturbing.
