    Taylor RULES!!! ALWAYS original!

  2. taylorfan06 Says:

    I was there!!!

  3. hicksaholic Says:

All I want to say is THANKS

  4. I was there, too. I took that video, actually.

  5. taylorfan06 Says:

Great job! Did you see me there throwing panties on the stage? (kidding)
I do have a sense of humor, see.

  6. AHAHHHA!! Thanks.

  7. jerseyirish Says:

iag, Love Taylor’s take on “Here Comes the Sun”, as always he did a great job!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Taylors take was better, more soulful and less pop. He has a better voice than George but so far George has proved he is a better song writer. Tay sang the hell out of his “Something” on AI. I’ll take a Taylor cover any day over many originals and he did Trouble better than Ray L.

  9. LOL, Taylor reads this blog because….ta da, we have a new audio blog on HQ! HAHA!

  10. Virtual Speak Says:

Bwhaa haa haaa SS! It’s kind of a longer one for him too.. his Blackberry rang at the end! lol

  11. Don’t kid yourself – Taylor does NOT read this blog. Take it from one who knows.

  12. LOL, I kept waiting for him say something about no cellcerts at his mini concerts. Taylor is such a pussy…for once, I would like him to stand up for himself – maybe I would have more respect for him, instead he worrys too much about offending fans. C’mon grow some balls, Taylor!

  13. Taylor reads here? I should start trying to sound super intelligent so he’ll think I’m cool . . .

Okay, I’ll discuss the three videos briefly. Taylor will like that. Or maybe not, depending on what I say.

I loved Taylor’s take on Here Comes the Sun, but I don’t know if I can bring myself to say his version is better than George Harrison’s. Mainly because, for me, George Harrison is pure love. I miss him so.

As an aside, and to bring up ancient history, I was in the audience during the rehearsal for the show when Taylor sang Something. I was mesmerized, honest to God. I don’t think I breathed the whole time he was singing. He most definitely did Mr. Harrison proud that night.

I love that Taylor covers Badge, because it seems like a less obvious choice than a song like After Midnight . . . I would love to hear him sing that one though. That’d be pretty damn hot.

  14. bamahotpocket Says:

Just the tinest crumb of a whisper there greeneyes.. Take it from who isn’t impressed.

  15. Well..the irony of it all!! ahahhahahahhahhaa

He goes on and on explaining his plan to his fans? WHAT? And boy, does he sound nice. What the hell? He’s usually all surly when he has to do these.

    I’ve got nothing, people.

  16. Ok, so.

    1. He’s planning on blogging every week.
    2. He explains why he’s doing Grease to his fans.
    3. He thanks the fans…and it sounds sincere.
    4. I have never heard him string that many sentences together. Not even in interviews.
    5. What’s even more interesting is what he didn’t say. Why didn’t he talk about the media ban for the entire tour??

  17. Virtual Speak Says:

IAG- Love the first video… love it! Also love that he talks about his acoustic tour.. ๐Ÿ™„

Here Comes The Sun was love. I wouldn’t say it was the caliber the incomparable George Harrison. But, he did do a fantastic job on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Soulaz you were at an AI Show and saw him do Something? OMG! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

    Can I touch you? Whoa.

Yes, he does do George Harrison proud for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Virtual Speak Says:

Wasn’t that interesting that he said so much, yet said so little? He should have addressed the media issue.

  19. He’s going to blog every week….oh yeah, sure he is.. I’ll believe it, when I see it. C’mon Taylor prove me wrong!

  20. Why didnโ€™t he talk about the media ban for the entire tour??

    Where did he say this?

  21. Virtual Speak Says:

I thought you knew greeneyes? ๐Ÿ˜†

  22. If he had mentioned the “Media Ban Scandal of 2009” it just would have caused another shit storm. I’m actually not surprised at all that he didn’t mention it. Maybe he’s trying to keep a couple degrees of separation between himself and his own rule.

Kevin Bacon may know what’s going on. We should ask him. I wonder if he reads here too???? ๐Ÿ˜›

  23. AHAHAAHHAH Soulaz…so does Elvis. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. Snowstorm Says:

    You kill me, soulaz!

  25. Virtual Speak Says:

If Kevin Bacon admits it.. he better pony up the million dollars he promised to Taylor.. heh heh

  26. greeneyes Says:

I’m just trying to figure out where he actually said this — and if he did say it — or people just “assumed” he said it.

  27. Did you know that Kevin Bacon’s band, the aptly named “Bacon Brothers Band,” played Ramshead last year?

So, how many degrees of separation are there between the Taylor fans attending his show in Ramshead and Kevin Bacon? Because, I think we’re on to something here. I know some people who will be there, and maybe they can use their new relationship with Kevin Bacon to get the final answer on the media ban.

  28. Snowstorm Says:

Good idea soulaz… let’s get the SP detectives on this right away!

  29. So, Mr. Hicks is going to offer up one of these audio blogs weekly? I swear he’s said that before, somewhere. I’ll believe it when I see it. Or hear it, I guess. And he did sound … NICE!! FRIENDLY!! He IS trying to reinvent himself!! Oh dear, there I go hating again, shame on me.

I’ll stop now. Let’s return now to our original program “Hi-Jinks with Snowstorm and Soulaz”!!

  30. So Tay reads here and has shown he has big balls and is stepping up to the plate to blog. Greeneyes is just jellus of our power.

  31. Greeneyes, I’ve never heard him say there will be a media ban for all of 2009. Many assume it will be lifted when the CD is released. I see absolutely no reason why he would need to address that in an audio blog. The thread yesterday was about communication and he has just about provided us with a novela and thanked fans without saying Soul Patrol. The man deserves some respect and credit. It is apparant he is trying to please his fans despite the fact yaking on audio blogs does not seem to be one of his favs.

  32. AHAHAAHAHA Rosie!!

    To whom it may concern:
Just to set the record straight…we are kidding about Taylor reading here. I have never said that Taylor reads here. I don’t want to be accused of starting rumors that Taylor reads this blog.

Yours in I”ve been around the Taylor Hicks fandom too long,

P.S. However, he did not yell “Soul Patrol!” in the audio blog. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  33. RedRoseSpeedway Says:

Taylor’s version of Here Comes the Sun is just okay for me. To me George Harrison’s version is MUCH MUCH better. I usually love Taylor’s Beatles covers but this one, for me, is his weakest.

  34. Weekly blogs? Eh. Like someone else said, I’ll believe it when I see it. Or can he read my mind and know that I was thinking of letting my membership lapse?

Until December of 2009, he is not coming within 200 miles of me. There is no need for me to renew — even for the “fascinating” audioblogs.

I still have a few months left on the HQ. I guess I’ll see if anything comes around to make me want to part with $25.

  35. Soulaz, Something is my favorite AI performance of Taylor’s.

When he did that one, his emotion completely blew me away.

  36. Interesting little article about Bruce Springsteen…

The Boss is owning up to a mistake.

In an interview with Sundayโ€™s New York Times, Bruce Springsteen says he shouldnโ€™t have made a deal with Wal-Mart. This month, the store started exclusively selling a Springsteen greatest hits CD.

Some fans were critical because Springsteen has been a longtime supporter of workerโ€™s rights, and Wal-Mart has faced criticism for its labor practices.

Springsteen told the Times that his team didnโ€™t vet the issue as closely as he should have, and that he โ€œdropped the ball on it.โ€

Springsteen went on to say: โ€œIt was a mistake. Our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one. Fans will call you on that stuff, as it should be.โ€

For those of you that think fans should just sit back and shut up, The Boss doesn’t seem to agree with you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Springsteen kicks ass. I’m just saying….

  38. I feel ya, BF . . . Taylor will be here in Arizona, just a couple hours away from me, in late February, but no word on a “shadow tour” date here.

He’s continuing to state he will do a show at each tour stop, though. I guess I’ll believe we’ll get weekly audioblogs, when I see a show announced for Tucson.

Oh, and feel free to just smack me when you feel as if I’ve mentioned the fact that he’s probably not doing a show here in Arizona one too many times.

  39. My understanding is that Taylor has asked for a “blog” ban as a subset of the media ban. Therefore, shortly, this site and many others will cease of exist.

  40. “to” exist, obviously. whew, good thing the ban hasn’t started yet or I couldn’t correct my comment.

  41. Damn . . . and I was about to launch my awesome new blog, “Taylor is the be-all of my existence,” or TIBO ME for short.

  42. (Let’s see if Taylor reads here. Let’s make a crazy suggestion and see if he does it:)

(ok, the seed has been planted. Now all we have to do and sit back and wait…)

  43. Charcoal, does that include forums…cause there a couple that could go.

Do you think that means the old graycharles site, too? Because all that’s up there is a period. Like..the end.

  44. Clearly, the cease and desist letters must go out to the folks at Blogger and WordPress first. Otherwsie these things will keep popping up.

  45. Ok, ok…along Caryl’s line of thinking…

Now, nothing to do but sit back and wait. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  46. What the heck . . .

Sitting back to wait for the magic to happen.

I’m betting MONEY he totally does this one! Just watch….just watch!

  48. (Don’t forget to do an evil laugh after every suggestion or it won’t come true!)

    And now we wait…

  49. caryl wins.

  50. Caryl always wins. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  51. Virtual Speak Says:

    yah that oughta work…

  52. Well…it’s MY game!

Charcoal is oddly silent. Perhaps he doesn’t approve of the puppet master game. Or maybe he’s typing up those blog ban letters.

  53. jerseyirish Says:

Charcol, Why would he want all blogs/forums shut down? I believe the biggest part of his fanbase is on the internet.

Caryl, You are too funny, you always make me smile with your quick wit!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Sitting back and waiting. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  55. 1) Nice post about Springsteen, iag. Principled man.
    2) This isn’t the first audio blog with no SP shout out. But it’s nice to hear anyways.
    3) Caryl wins. Yeah.

  56. blue: aw, that was mean! And we were having such fun. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

True: hmm….not sure how you mean that, but I’m gonna dance away in blissful ignorance…yay!

I’m off to a Mormon wedding reception. Do Mormons dance? I’ll letcha know.

  57. Mormons do not dance, they are willing to ice skate when necessary but they quickly wary of cracks.

  58. “become” wary. this connection i have in prague seems to be robbing me of one word per comment. i think i’ve made my point.

  59. JI, I think Charcoal was just trying to be witty. That’s all. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  60. Mormons do dance, at least on glittery reality shows. Maybe weddings count.

On-topic fodder: I don’t usually like Hick’s Beatles covers, but I think his take on Here Comes the Sun is one of the more interesting ones I’ve heard. The guitar playing is weak, and it wouldn’t kill him to learn another verse, but it’s a very effective interpretation, IMO.

  61. jerseyirish Says:

Whoa. What a second. The BOSS thinks fans should think critically for themselves??!? Bruce Fucking Springsteen doesn’t think a fan should just sit there and blindly support their artist???!!!?

  63. I’m back already! No alcohol, no caffeine, no music and no ice skating. (I tossed my skates in the car at the last minute, just in case.) But they are a lovely family (eleven kids!).

  64. YKW, Walmart is a employee rights issue and political correctness. I doubt Bruce chooses what, when, where and how he records and performs based on what his fans think.

  65. Springsteen is a wise man. What a concept- fans that can think for themselves…

  66. Speaking of Bruuuuce. I just got this e-mail from my sister:

    “He’s touring again!!!!”

I’ve NEVER seen him live. Gotta do it.

  67. I just checked for tickets to see Bruce Springsteen and saw this:**No cameras or audio/video recorders allowed!**

yeah, yeah, I know that’s not so unusual, but why does everybody go ape-shit when Taylor says it? Not looking for a fight, just curious.

  68. Well, honestly, caryl…Taylor’s tours have always been no cameras, for the most part. I was only at a couple concerts where it was strictly enforced. Myrtle Beach and NOLA, both House of Blues. Well, I take that back. When he played the casino in Biloxi, we couldn’t have cameras then either.

  69. I doubt Bruce chooses what, when, where and how he records and performs based on what his fans think.

Rosie, did you read the article?

It may not be specifically about recording and/or performing, but the point is that Springsteen fans are unhappy about his choice of vendor for this latest CD. In other words, his fans are not just sitting back and thanking Mr. Springsteen for bestowing a new CD on them. They are critical of the deal that was made for distribution, and Springsteen is backing them up in their criticism.
Imagine that, criticism that an artist appreciates and acknowledges.

  70. YKW, Walmart is a employee rights issue and political correctness.

Rosie, what does this sentence mean and strawberry muffin.

  71. Um, are you ordering a strawberry muffin, True?

  72. All right….

This is the second intelligent comment
    on this blog.

  74. taylorfan06 Says:

I agree with that one, 15

  75. Reasons the Fandom Goes Apeshit Over Mr. Hicks’ Media Ban:
    1. Mr. Hicks has publically encouraged media at past events.
    2. He’s “Taylor Hicks”. It’s the equivalent of a local college band not allowing media at their bar gigs. Mr. Hicks is not the equivalent of Bruce Springsteen.
    3. The Fandom is not going apeshit over the media ban itself. The Fandom is going apeshit over the “bad fans” who choose to dare to defy the Anointed Mr. Hicks, taking their destiny into their own hands and furtively taping and bringing those tapes to the masses!!!

    LONG LIVE THE BAD FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. The media ban topic has been beaten to death. After its death it was beaten, beaten some more and then beaten again. Then it was set on fire.

So is there a cellcert this Saturday?

Oh yeah the topic, the audio blog. Nice that he talked to us and used lots of words. Unfortunately he really didn’t say much of anything. But it’s a start.

  77. Here’s an obvious reason…fans feel like they own Taylor.

I’m in a bitchy mood today and another thing the stupid SP does that gets on my nerves is the overboard fawning they do. Treating him like he’s a five year old child. I’ll bet the old ladies always wanted a son like Taylor, lol. His myspace is good for a laugh. You’ll find obsessed old ladies making him some hot cocoa and tucking him into bed. What a bunch of pathetic women!

  78. Redrosespeedway Says:

Do they really do that on his myspace? That’s hysterical!

  79. Rosie is out to lunch and can’t answer any questions. Anyway 15 is the expert on intelligent statements.

  80. I really like this Springsteen statement. Because it’s real life, it’s reality, it’s the fan/musician relationship. If your fans don’t like your decision, as a musician, you gotta problem. What’s so weird is that in the Soul Patrol book of fan worship , apparently having an opinion on a decision, or disliking something is considered bad, illegal, and blasphemous. I seriously think these people are confusing religion with Taylor Hicks.

Here’s a question I’m curious about. How do you guys think his album is going to do? Here’s my prediction: I think the album is going to have some good songs on it but I don’t think it will do well. I think the sales will be very limited and it won’t make a dent and i think his fans will blame the economy. The reason i don’t think it will do well is because i think his image has been dragged in the mud (his own fault of course) and people won’t even bring themselves to buy an album from Taylor Hicks as its equivalent to liking Mickey Mouse.

  81. Okay. This may be the one and only time you will see (read) Fairhope in a great mood. This is off topic but fits the title of this blog:

It is a beautiful day in Fairhope. I’m looking out my front window at Mobile Bay. Not a cloud in the sky, the water is smooth and sparkling and there is a lone sailboat on the horizon. (God, I sound like britelite!). The only thing that would make it even better is if the dolphins were jumping. Needs to warm up about 10 or 15 degrees and then there would be perfection. Spring is near y’all!

  82. Blue: Does Mickey Mouse have an 8 inch………?

  83. Blue wrote: “I seriously think these people are confusing religion with Taylor Hicks.”

Well, he does always make that comment about “taking us to church” when he’s onstage….just sayin. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  84. taylorfan06 Says:

SS, I find it funny that you say you’re in a bitchy mood “today”.
I haven’t noticed a difference. You really are beyond judgmental and exaggerate things greatly. But I know, you’re just being “realistic”.
I think Fox News would love to have you on their team. Are you any relation to Ann ( I mean Man) Coulter?

  85. taylorfan06 Says:

I forgot to add LOL, yeah right.

  86. Well, to be honest, from my observations, some fans absolutely DO feel some ownership or entitlement when it comes to Taylor. I think this is a frequent side effect for artists competing on American Idol, and it happens within other AI fanbases as well.

When fans actively participate, or so they believe, in the “launching” of an artist through their votes, it’s a really easy trap to fall into. Some fans may have a hard time letting go of that feeling as the competition falls further into the past, while others move on and settle into a different type of fan relationship with the artist.

To say that ALL fans feel ownership of Taylor is not correct, in my opinion. I did, however purchase a controlling interest in his left pinky toe on EBay . . . and so I think I can safely say that I totally own that toe.

  87. Wow truefan, I love Fox News. I fit your description of a FNC devotee: realistic, VERY judgemental and a huge bitch!

BTW…your not being judgemental yourself, are you???????

  88. Yeah and Soul? I purchased 100% interest in that 8″……..

  89. Damn, Fairhope . . . maybe I spent my money on the wrong body part. It is a really awesome toe, though . . . seriously.

  90. Soulaz? Do you have a foot fetish? Just asking…..

  91. Now, this isn’t a fetish site, and I don’t know if I have to make any confessions here. But for the sake of transparancy . . . no. I just chose an allegedly vestigal body part. I could have as easily selected the appendix or a wisdom tooth. ๐Ÿ˜›

  92. But hands down….I chose the best part!

  93. Ladies it is all about the music. But he does have those two hefties and can go “The Distance”….

  94. Um, what is going on here? ๐Ÿ˜†

  95. itsallgrey, your blog is getting degrading by “some gals”, certainly not me , getting off topic of Taylors’ beautiful voice and talent. Maybe the winter has been too long, cold and lonely! Who knows! Some gals need creature comfort. Anyway as I said he sang it better than George, George was a better song writer, Tay was so sweet to give us a long audio blog, Tay or Bill or Kevin Bacon read here, your blog has power, and it is untrue that one can buy on ebay any interest in any of Taylor’s body parts. Lastly “The Distance”, is not measured in inches but time well spent!

  96. Hey! I had nothing to do with it this time!

  97. Lastly โ€œThe Distanceโ€, is not measured in inches but time well spent!

Hey, I heard some tracks on The Distance are around 9 inches, I mean, minutes, long!!!

  98. We have fun. Right Hicks Save, God bless Taysharmonica, has a very long interview posted. Tay mentions 14 tracks on “The Distance”, and stated he wrote and or co-wrote, not 30, but 50 songs in N.Y. LA and Nashville. I believe him cause he has talent is honest and good and he can always go “The Distance”, plus I think I’m Soul Patrol worthy! PS, YKW— it is only 12-4, but can go “The Distance”, not in a sprint, but a marathon, and that makes it all worthwhile!

  99. So, he’s written or co-written fifty new songs? And how many actually made it to the album?

Wonder if any of them are like Limin’.

  100. casualfan Says:

    LOL YKW! “9” inches indeed;)

  101. I’m off swimming in MargaritaVille and having a Bloody Mary Morning (Day) and return to 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, 9 Inches and we’re not talking about Nails.

Charcoal – all the way from Prague, (hahaha), predicts blogger and wordpress to be banned.

15 is being nominated as “who can name intelligent comments”, (isn’t that ironic?) and Caryl did not start any of this, this time.LOL

Where is our moon-unit Spirit-Momma Bright anyway? At least Fair filled in while she’s absent.

Glad I saved a few brain cells to read all that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

P.S. “Here Comes the Sun” one of my favorite covers Mr. Hicks has done.

  102. brightlite Says:

    Spin LOL
Your post made me chuckle of course. What did you call me ummm Spirit-Momma Bright? lmao. okay I guess. I’ll take the title of that over some other names you have called me. lol. It is an improvement and that is good. Luckily I don’t hold grudges and I find carrying them even more tedious. I am perfectly balanced individual, I carry a chip on both shoulders. (That was a line from A Beautiful Mind, Russel Crow, btw. chuckle) Food for thought I guess huh?
I dare not ask who you are rooting for int he Bowl but I figured you aren’t a Steeler fan…could be wrong but I don’t picture that. This is a real east meets wets Bowl game for sure, but I am not looking at any of the butss on the players, nahhhhh nor am I checking out their packages…
Just kidding once again but it is a thought…hmmmm makes a girl wonder how much of the man is padding and how much is the man!
I am in a mood I guess, so let it be as it is for what its worth and not a moment more can we spend on things that time won’t allow nor condone in any sense my words convey more than meaning but truth alive and well waiting for the path and the journey to come together to make destiny preceding history. And I have not had one drink yet today. God help me.

    Be well my friend.

  103. brightlite Says:

One of my favorite songs. The Eagles speak to me. This is hot and it tells the story of my life in so many ways. I swear it was written for me. When you called me Spirit Bright Momma it made me think of the first line or two of the song.
    Until next time…

  104. spinshack Says:

Bright, “Spirit Momma” is a compliment *smiles* because that’s what you are, complete with flowers in your hair. I’m a Card fan, and have you seen a football player who can fill out those breeches quite like Larry Fitzgerald? Hubba Hubba! man I love those rear shots. ๐Ÿ˜‰

“Beautiful Mind” one of my favorite movies. One of my regular readers on IDOL BLUES once wrote to me I remind them of that character. ha. I’ll take that as it comes.
