As the new year approaches, I’m sure you’re starting to think of some new years resolutions. No? Me either. What I really want to know from you is…
…are you doing a shadow show in St. Louis? I would assume no, since it’s right around the corner and nobody’s heard anything about ANY shadow shows. Just remember you have lots of midwest fans who would love to see you in concert. I might even have to drag some of my non-Taylor friends with me!
There are lots of cool venues you could perform at…
The Pageant Looks like they still have a few openings in January.
Who wouldn’t want to play at a place called Pop’s Blue Moon?
And of course you could always play at Blueberry Hill…how cool would it be for Chuck Berry to sit in?
Anyway, just some ideas for you to think about….
Yours in please do more shadow shows so your fans won’t get so crazy,
Holy Moses I have been removed
I have seen the spectre he has been here too
Distant cousin from down the line
Brand of people who ain’t my kind
Holy Moses I have been removed
Holy Moses I have been deceived
Now the wind has changed direction and I’ll have to leave
Won’t you please excuse my frankness but it’s not my cup of tea
Holy Moses I have been deceived
I’m going back to the border
Where my affairs, my affairs ain’t abused
I can’t take any more bad water
I’ve been poisoned from my head down to my shoes
Holy Moses I have been deceived
Holy Moses let us live in peace
Let us strive to find a way to make all hatred cease
There’s a man over there what’s his colour I don’t care
He’s my brother let us live in peace
He’s my brother let us live in peace
He’s my brother let us live in peace
Wow. This girl has some pipes, no doubt about it. She also seems a little more comfortable being interviewed than she was on AI. Thank goodness. What’s really hard to believe is that her voice is only 17 years old.
Like the message of this song, too. Don’t waste the pretty on pain.
Dust it off, break it down
Get to what we’re talkin about
Do what we’re talkin about
Don’t try to hide it now
Why keep on working it out?
You keep on working it out
‘Cause I see how it’s putting you down
I just can’t be around
What you doing this for?
‘Cause the light in you started to fade
Don’t let it get away
Girl you’re worth so much more
Don’t waste the pretty on him
Don’t waste the pretty on pain
When it gets too much to take
Don’t give it away
Don’t waste the pretty on life
Soon it’s gonna fly on by
Whatever way you got to see
Don’t waste the pretty
Sit back and breath it in
Look at how lucky we are
Look at how lucky we are
This life we’re livin in
You got to follow your heart
You know I’m never too far
Away from the pain in your eyes
I can see your disguise
But it’s not too late
‘Cause I know you can turn it around
Don’t let it get you down
Don’t be scared, work it out
And listen when I say
Don’t waste the pretty on him
Don’t waste the pretty on pain
When it gets too much to take
Don’t give it away
Don’t waste the pretty on life
Soon it’s gonna fly on by
Whatever way you got to see
Don’t waste the pretty
And just incase you need reminding
Well you’re beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
And every noticed sin, you hide it
‘Cause you’re beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Don’t waste the pretty on him
Don’t waste the pretty on pain
When it gets too much to take
Don’t give it away
Don’t waste the pretty on life
Soon it’s gonna fly on by
Whatever way you got to see
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t, don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t , don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
(Yeah you’re beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful)
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t, don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t , don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Don’t waste the pretty
Here are some really cool music videos that I have come across…some performance, some not, in no particular order.
There is something about Ray LaMontagne’s voice that draws me in. I don’t know what it is, but it’s just comfortable to me. There are only a few other artists that demand that same reaction from me…
When I first heard that Taylor Hicks was covering this song, I was elated. He did a hell of a good job on it. Too bad the lady’s head in the front row keeps moving. But hey..whatcha gonna do?
I’m sure everybody probably has seen this next video, but it’s still very cool. I don’t know the specifics on how long it took to get everybody on the same page…I can imagine it took a while for everybody to catch on.
Will Hoge…awesome.
This is the unofficial video for this Train song, but it’s done really well. Clever.
This, hanging out in the lobby with his fans after the show. More Will Hoge. I can’t help it.
This is one of my favorite performances from Taylor Hicks. I was there in the second row to witness it in all it’s glory. Out of all the concerts that I went to, that had to be the best one.
Love Foy Vance and love how this video is made. It has a pretty deep message, too. I’m a sucker for lyrics.
This is cool.
And this one, as much as I don’t like Miley Cyrus’ singing voice, if that’s what we’re going to call it, watching this video makes it somewhat bearable. Total hilarity.
I have mulled and mulled over what to say after the latest Soul Patrol blowup. There are so many things that I can say…but instead, I’ve just decided to say this:
This is my sandbox and if you don’t like it, go play somewhere else.
I have built this blog in order to have a place to “talk Taylor” or talk about anything that I want. I have tried to be fair and kind regarding all the posters. I have respected the opinions of others. However, just because I respect your opinion does not mean that I agree with it. Just as some of you don’t agree with mine, I don’t agree with yours, and no amount of cajoling, arguing or intimidating will change that. There are other blogs, there are other boards. If you want to be overly enthusiastic, go to those. Nobody is forcing anybody else to read or comment on this blog. If you don’t like the style of the posts or the content, don’t come here. If you want to continue to come here, that’s fine, too. But be prepared. Apparently I am going to have to moderate a little bit more. Obviously, an open board where all opinions are given cannot be tolerated by certain factions of the Soul Patrol.
There is a reason why this is the only blog in the Taylor Hicks fandom where good and bad things can be said about Taylor Hicks.
So, you can stay or you can go. I don’t need paragraphs about why you’re not going to post anymore. Honestly, I don’t care. I am not here to serve your Taylor Hicks needs. I am here to write the blog that I want to write. That’s really the bottom line.
is a music video. You guys can say what you want about Adam Lambert, but I love how he pushes the edge every time.
When I blather on and on about being true to the music, this is what I’m talking about. No apologies, no fear, just letting the music take him whatever it wants to go. Wow. Whatever fate has in store for Adam Lambert, I think it’s going to be big. Pushing the envelope and getting people talking is usually a good thing, and he definitely has a knack for it.
What’s interesting to me is that when I think of Adam Lambert, I don’t think American Idol. In one fell swoop, he managed to distance himself from the corporation that is AI. When I hear Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, I still think, oh, American Idol. But somehow, Adam Lambert has done the impossible, and I bet his career will take off because of it.
This past weekend, I traveled to Indianapolis to see Will Hoge. He was playing in this really nice venue called Radio Radio.
Thank God that other people brought their camera to the venue Saturday night. At the last minute, I decided not to, which was probably best since we got there late and stood by the bar the whole night. It was definitely an awesome concert. Thanks to all that filmed him!!
This is one of my favorite songs from him…
The best part of the concert was towards the end. He told the crowd that he was going to do an experiment which was going to require some cooperation. Next thing I know, Will Hoge is headed towards us, towards the back of the bar with his guitar and his band following behind him. He then sang a song in the back while the audience gathered around him. So cool..no microphone, just him and the music. I can’t find any video of it, but it was definitely different. The whole time I kept thinking…no way would Taylor ever do that…not without his security detail anyway.
Another awesome vid…
He tours all the time. If he is ever in your area, I would definitely recommend him. After the concert, he stood at the merch table and met people. He was really nice, even to the people who might have had too much to drink. *cringes* It’s been a long time since I had that much fun at a concert…
Okay . . . reality check time. God is God. Clapton is Clapton. Lennon is Lennon. Hicks is Hicks.
One of them created the Beatles and changed the face of rock music. One of them created Derek and the Dominoes, Cream and the Yardbirds and is considered one of, if not the best, rock guitarist of all time. One of them created the whole friggin’ universe and everything in it. Oh, and one of them won American Idol and went on to “Taylorize Beauty School Dropout.”
